Kalamazoo has not had a mobile groomer in nearly 15 years, so when my Dad mentioned Jessica and…read moreParamount Grooming to me I was super excited. As a non-driver I like to have as many mobile services as possible on our roster because it just makes our life simpler. After I called and made an appointment for Blue and explained that I was allergic to nearly everything on the planet Earth, Jessica was kind enough to work with us and offer to use our shampoo to bathe Blue. I also explained that Blue suffers from arthritis and we worked out a plan for Blue-Bird to not need to stand during her entire haircut and bath. Blue has been groomed before and I always felt a tad apprehensive dropping her off at the other groomer, but I have to say, even though I knew she was just in front of the house, I felt at ease with Jessica. After her bath and trim Blue looked amazing! The best part, Blue, a normally shy and timid senior dog who does not warm up around strangers, was so happy. It was obvious that even though Blue had just had a bath, which is not her favorite activity, she was treated sweetly because Blue was in a good mood. For practical purposes, I had been brushing and trimming Blue for the past four or five years, but she needed a professional to clean her up a bit. Blue received a mini groom and because she was sensitive around the ears and my allergies precluded the ear cleaning, her ears were just wiped out. Her nails were trimmed and the hair around her feet were trimmed. The dryer and brush got out a lot of her undercoat. She looks fantastic and her coat feels so much better.

Having a less common breed I came prepared with what I was looking for in the cut but figured my first visit might be a learning curve for everyone. My how I was surprised! The proprietor James is super great with dogs! They already had a couple dogs get trimmed and things seemed to be running like a well oiled machine. I made an appointment a week before, I got a courtesy reminder the day before and they were ready for me when I arrived. Theirs a yelp coupon for first time customers too! I showed the owner the pictures I brought, he was friendly and courteous and talked to me about what they would do to make my dog look beautiful. 2 hours later they were just finishing up and I could tell it was a great experience for my puppy. She was all trimmed up, with clean ears and a wagging tail. As I was leaving some other dogs were on their way in for their appointment. Clearly a popular place and people seem to like the experience. I didn't give five stars because i wanted to leave room for my next couple visits when they do more than trimming her legs, face and butt. I'll make an updated review then and hope to give that last allusiveHowever, so far I would recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a friendly competent groomer. While they sell dog and cat toys and accessories, the biggest draw, of course, are the fresh baked pet goodies! I have a pug named Arthur and every year, we take him in on his birthday to pick out special treats for him. For other occasions, too, sometimes. Also, for Christmas this past year, I went in and bought treats for all the dogs in the family - they all approved, haha. There is a wide variety of treats - all very cutely decorated. We've bought squirrels and nuts and puppies and ice cream cones and I also bought a 'Corgi Cannoli' for my friend's dog - who is a Corgi mix. ;-P They also offer some grooming services. We have taken Artie in for nail trimmings in between his grooming appointments - a cheap and convenient service.
