I've taken my dog here 4 or 5 times before with great results (thanks to Jen) but this last time he was butchered by a different groomer who had no business working with dogs in a salon. We are not regulars here but it was a very nice store. Very clean. I was looking for a particular cat food and our usual pet store was out of stock so I was able to order 2 cases of canned cat food online. My husband went in to pick it up. He had no problems which is wonderful! We're able to get exactly what we needed! We've tried hiding Moonshadow's medicine in other foods but she's a really smart kitty! Petsmart stuffed my dog in a kennel for two hours while completing other appointments in the grooming dept. He was so distressed that they had to cancel his appointment. None of their process was explained to me. From 5-7:30 they did nothing but stress out an animal unnecessarily. I will not be returning and ask that you consider whether warehousing animals to increase the amount of grooms in a day is humane. read more

Our dog got kennel cough here. She was there a really long time because they were training other people there. Very disappointed.

The staff is kind and helpful but the animals are housed incorrectly. I go to PetSmart to pick up supplies for my pets. every time I go there i'm dissatisfied in the care of the pets sold at PetSmart. the enclosures are incorrectly sized and maintained poorly. I often see rodents ,fish, birds, etc in a stressed state especially because it's a loud environment filled with little kids and other pets. these animals are prey animals they are extremely sensitive to there surroundings and get stressed out and they have to live there for a good amount of time. Yes I know these are temporary conditions for the animals but this is teaching people improper husbandry of these sensitive animals. it is not far to animal to live in a small enclosure with needs that are not meet a then die a unfulfilled life. And often times when you purchase an animal it comes with some sort of illness because PetSmart/anyone cannot afford the vet bills of the mass amounts of animals they sell. PetSmart also supports pet mills (basically like a factory for supplying animals) which is incredibly inhumane and the animals are left uncared for. Im done seeing animals treated like objects. im not supporting the inhumane practices of PetSmart anymore I advise you not support as well. read more

I just rescued a dog from the SPCA and since I didn't know what to expect from her, I knew I would need a bit of extra help handling her. I wanted her bathed before I brought her home as I am disabled. These groomers are very helpful. They walked her in and out for me and she smelled so much better when I got her back. They were very kind both to me and my new friend. read more

Staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful. If they don't have an answer, they'll point you to someone who does. Also, don't freak if your normally very well-behaved pet squats or lifts a leg -apparently no matter how much they clean, a pet store will always smell like a giant dog park to other animals (I'm still horrified, but slightly pacified) read more

Great place for a nail trim for my easily scared pup. They are not overbooked and have done a great job each time, their prices are great.

So took my sick dog in and less then 5 minutes with out looking at him I was up to 630 Dollars. By the end of it 4 hours later we r at 970. Wow lied about so much they didn't do there job if they had my dog wouldn't have died 5 hours after leaving there. So at 970 I didn't have 395 bucks they were so pushy I told them I would get there money they weren't going to give my dog the meds he supposedly needed. So they started wiping on this and that for me to do review on there web sight. Then they knocked off this and that till we got to 125 bucks so had to ask for help from people I didn't know to pay this or I couldn't leAve.i told them again I'll get your money keep him over night if u had to buy that was out of the question. After he died my wife called there up set they told her he had traced of leukemia then told her I refused the meds and then told her they told me he needed over night care in the hospital. Another lie so my wife was so up set at this point can't get him a cremation every dollor we had was gone. So after catching them stumbling they offered to cremated him for free. My wife felt a little better till she found out she got no ashes that we would have to pay intire thing out of pocket for this. Did not dawn on me untill after we handed him over that no way could use them they just got the only thing that could have proven neglect. read more

I took my dog to Petsmart 12/8/2022 and Emily G completely butchered my dog. I have taken my dogs here previously at least 4 times and never had any complaints. This time around my dogs haircut was half-assed. My dog was at the groomer for 4 hours and in return this is what I got. I can say for a fact this was NOT worth 4 hours of work. I asked for her to get the closest shave possible all over body minus the tail and ears to which I wanted a trim. This is what I got back. On one paw the nails weren't even trimmed. Her tail wasn't brushed out as there were knots in it. The paws weren't shaved down. The back has patches of long hair mixed with buzzed hair. The worst part of it was her head. She was given back to me looking like a bobble head which isn't even remotely close to what I asked for. While I was there I asked if her head to be shaved shorter and was told "it's not possible." However, that isn't the case when I went to petsmart previously. I paid $57 for bath & haircut. I even added $35 for the holiday package which included holiday bandana, cookie, coupon book, teeth brushing, and nail grinding. I received none of those upon checkout, I was rushed out the door. This horrible experience has me not coming back and I advise everyone else to groom your dog elsewhere or at least not with Emily G. read more

lets just say i will never take my dog to this grooming salon again. Horrible service to say the least. I had my dogs grooming appt scheduled for 5 wks in advance. they call to reschedule for the next wknd bc someone called in or couldn't work. they called me the day before to reschedule. so here we are on our rescheduled day to find out that they canceled our appt and they don't have my dog in their books. no one in that salon knew why he was canceled just that he was t on their books. then they put me on hold to talk to a manager and she tells me they canceled the wrong dog appt. no sorry for the inconvenience. the lady prior to this conversation said that he would get a free grooming visit. when we got the invoice it said $85. so when I question the manager of this she says "if we had to reschedule then it would have been free". i will never come here for grooming. read more

We brought her back again a later time and informed them of what happened previously and guess what they did it again and now I am at the vet waiting to pick her up. This place should be banned. This places service is so terrible. We literally tried to buy a fish and said we were doing it all wrong, stunting our current fishes growth by getting another one, and we going to force them to be "anorexic". How is a fish gonna be anorexic?? it's a fish. First, is that seriously a way to speak to your customers? Second, if I wanna buy a 30 cent fish, let me buy the damn fish. Third, if you're that judgmental about keeping a fish in a small tank, than maybe don't keep 70 fish in a 5 gallon tank. This petsmart location is wonderful. I'm usually pretty skeptical about pet stores in general, but this one is always clean and the staff are very friendly. I have bought fish and I always have had my daughters dogs groomed here and have just no complaints at all. We have always been very happy getting the dogs groomed here and have had a great experience. They did a great job for less than a lot of other grooming places in the area. So as far as Petsmarts go, this one gets an A+ from me! read more

I will never recommend coming here and my dog didn't even get groomed! I scheduled an appointment several months ago since the wait time was so long. I had no problem with waiting and it was five weeks out but I understand businesses are very busy and time slots are limited. I waited the five weeks and got a call on Tuesday that my stylist had a family emergency and couldn't come in the next day to clip my dog. I understand things like this come up and was more then willing to reschedule! I called and got rescheduled for Friday afternoon. Friday morning rolled around and I got a call that again a different stylist I was supposed to see has again called out for family emergency... and once again I was a little annoyed but what are you gonna do‍. The gentlemen named Matt called and was extremely apologetic and told me due to the reschedule the service would be feted which in this economy I appreciated deeply to try to make the situation right. I called back a few hours later and spoke to a lady on the phone who said that the stylist would call me when she gets in on Sunday at 9:30 to tell me when on Sunday afternoon she can cut my dog. So Sunday rolls around and it hits 10:15 and I still hadn't gotten a call. I call the salon to see when I could get in that afternoon. And a lady gets in the phone and tells me that they have no availability for Sunday. I informed her of the situation and that two people had told me there was availability with someone on Sunday. Instead she offers Wednesday as the next available and there was no way I could get in on Sunday. At that point I had enough. I had been rescheduled enough and they weren't working with my schedule at all. I felt like for being a first time client and waiting five weeks, I had been super sweet with rescheduling twice and I was just not content with being rescheduled three times. Super disappointed and has to end up watching a YouTube video to cut my dog because I am going away for the fourth with him and everyone in the area was booking several weeks out! I will never give the grooming salon my business and for anyone who is thinking of scheduling... Go to a smaller more personal groomer better experience and definitely worth the price since you will actually get the haircut done. read more

Seriously concerned about the care of their guinea pigs. They CANNOT be in glass cages. No ventilation, causes respiratory distress and ammonia build up. Read any website and they will tell you that. Also they have a hay rack feeder that guinea pigs can and will get their heads stuck in. They have way too many in a small, unhealthy space. read more

PetsMart is a big chain and accordingly, have almost everything a pet lover could imagine. I find the staff here to be pretty friendly, and who doesn't smile when they are surrounded by little furry friends? The prices are reasonable and very clean and you can even bring Fido or Spot with you into the store...just be careful that they don't rip into something or you may be purchasing something you didn't originally intend to. read more

This pet smart is definatley more expensive than other shops, but has more specific items you cant find anywhere else. I have been a shopper here for about 2 years. I have dogs, fish and guinea pigs. Over these last two years i have had a array of experiences. Dogs 5 star I have taken my two pomeraian poodle puppies here to get a trim once every 3 months. Every time they go in they come out with good reports and as adorable as ever!! The staff in the back are super sweet, and great pet lovers. fish 2 stars I own multiple fantail fancy goldfish and have looked to multiple petsmarts over the years for advice. So i expected this store to be able to give me just as good of advice. so on a typical day i went in ad talked to a male employee in the fish department. i told him my problem, asked him about the research i had done online and he came up with a solution. the solution was for me to buy invisible shrimp. Long story short my oldest fish (2 years) died due to the shrimp. When i came back to the store i asked yet another employee about my problem, then he assured me the shrimp was the WORST possible thing i could have done. I told him of the other employee who had helped me before. turns out the first guy was mainentce and was not suppose to be answering customers questions. I then spoke to the manager who apologized that my fish had died and let me pick out a replacement for free. Guinea pigs 4 stars As a guinea pig amateur i had no idea what i was getting into. the staff helped me twice to get me started and to find the right pet. i now have two little piggies, who have to be in seperate cages because they fight. so on average about a 3.66 star out of 5 read more

Please share!!! My brother took his beautiful dog to Pet Smart on West Main to get her groomed today. He was super nervous about taking her..he's a first time pet owner and this was his first experience grooming her. Well let me tell you how unprofessional they were...When he dropped her off they said they would take care of her and it would be a couple of hours. So he drove to Battle Creek to hang out with family while he waited. He no more got to Battle Creek and they called and said come get your dog we are not going to groom her shes too scared. So he drove all the way back to Kalamazoo to pick her up and they were super rude to him and told him she needed a pill for anxiety and THEN they would take care of her. They however did not tell him that they tried to start grooming her and this is how they left her. He didnt realize it until he got out to the car. My mother in law called Pet Smart to talk to the manager and they kept putting her on hold. She left her name and number for the manager, Rosemary, and she ended up having to call back because she did not return her call. When she called back, rather than taking responsibility for the atrocious job they did on her, she blamed Evan, claiming that he is a horrible dog owner for letting her get atrociously matted, which is totally untrue. As far as I can see, who ever was assigned to groom her was not properly trained. If she was so horribly matted, as they said she was, they should have assessed that before they even touched her with the clippers. Instead, they did this to her, and even left hair hanging off her that we had to cut off! So instead of making this experience stress-free for him, they made it a nightmare. Yesterday I had the best experience with Michelle (I THINK was her name. I am bad with names. She was a cute, taller girl with glasses), and a trainer, Jessica (again, I think...I will call for accurate names and update this review to give credit where it is due.) I walked in last night about an hour before close with a very tiny, brand new puppy. I was anxious--I have fostered older dogs, but I have never taken in a puppy as my own to give a permanent home to. Well, I left with everything I needed, SO much extra knowledge and information on puppy training, and a warm feeling in my heart. Michelle even gave me suggestions regarding less expensive cat food for my felines (I usually go with Science Diet, but she sold me on their brand that is essentially similar). After a few pretty rough experiences here, I am so, so happy that I met these two ladies. They completely made my week with their kindness. Jessica was training a dog at one point while Michelle helped me, and she is an impressive trainor. It was pretty awesome to see. Thank you all so much. I can't express my gratitide! read more

This isn't my normal pet store but I was in the area and needed cat food. I found this store to be a little overwhelming when I first walked in. It is crammed full with lots of items ranging for dogs, cats, small pets, and fish. After finding the cat food and the brand my guy prefers, I proceed to the check-out where I stood in line with at least 5 other people in front of me and another 4 stood behind as the lone cashier worked the cash register. I have a great experience every time. Staff are always nice and polite. I specifically would like to give a HUGE THANK YOU to Kaylee K in the grooming area. She is SUPER sweet, nice, attentive, helpful and so much more. My dog is very timid and it takes a lot to get him to trust you. Kaylee K has never complained and always has a smile and a compliment. She also makes sure that my dog and I are comfortable and well taken care of. I cannot thank her enough. Also the other groomers are all so sweet and helpful every single time I've been in. Do NOT bring your dogs to be groomed here! If the grooming staff are busy, they will handle your dogs roughly! As usual, I brought my 2 small dogs in for a haircut, harnessed and leashed. The grooming staff put slip collars on the dogs, didn't greet them at all, and dragged the clearly nervous and resistant dogs away, sliding across the tile floor. And this was right after I warned them to be careful of my miniature poodle's bad knees! I wish I had immediately said something to stop them and demanded to see a manager. I will never bring my dogs here again! read more

Brought dog here for grooming, they said my dog had "RING WORM". I brought my dog to my vet and my dog did not have ring worm. I'm not sure what they where thinking, don't really care. I do know they had only 2 groomers working and a lot of dogs running around a very dirty area. They looked short staffed and acted unprofessional. read more

This place looks very nice when you walk in, but the people there, not so much! I was looking to buy a fish and I asked a simple question about a certain fish, but the only response I got was sass. The person did not seem like they knew what they were doing. I was going to put in a review to there manager, but no, he was not wearing a name tag. I am very concerned. Not every employee is like that though. Everyone else that has helped me was very helpful and I found exactly what I was looking for. This guy just ruined my fish shopping trip. read more

I am really mad. We went into this store, and we were getting a fish. We had to set up our tank first before we get the fish, so we got the tank, gravel, and all of the needed materials. The workers were pretty nice. When we got home, we were going to set up the tank, so we opened the package and there was a Walmart bag just inside. It was missing the filter, and other things. We thought that someone had returned it but you would think that the store would check to see if everything is in the package but no. So now we have to wait another day to get our fish and tank. My boyfriend and I took our puppy Beau here for puppy classes, 2-6weeks classes so far. The trainer Jen is absolutely amazing! She helped us so much, plus she is so incredibly kind and knowledgeable. Beau is now obedient, so much calmer, and isn't nearly as impulsive as he was prior to his classes! We went to beginner, and intermediate, and can't wait for advanced with her as a trainer! She's seriously the best, and I'm loving the results of her classes! read more

Reluctant to take my Pomeranian there due to stories of friends getting there dogs back with burn marks on their bellies from hot clippers. They were able to get me in quickly and my Pomeranian really needed a haircut so I crossed my fingers and hoped whoever worked there prior didn't still work there. THE GOOD: It took them 2 1/2 hours in total to finish with my dog which was fine since they quoted me 3 hours. His hair cut turned out OK. (See below) THE BAD: So I stopped in at the start of my dogs haircut and watched her cut his hair the whole time because of the bad things I've heard about this place and Pomeranians have special grooming needs. At this point there's 2 other dogs on grooming tables spread out. What I didn't like was this particular girl was too interested in chatting with the girls in the room that often she would aimlessly keep cutting with scissors or clippers while staring at someone else and talking. She seemed completely careless during most of his hair cut. At one point she just about cut my dogs arm with scissors because she wasn't paying attention. She acknowledged this and immediately pet him out of reaction to calm him because she knew she got close. During all this my dog was nervous and I felt like his haircut could have been done sooner had she paid attention. This might have all been a bad experience with this particular girl because the lady grooming a small dog in front of her paid attention to what she was doing and didn't spend the whole haircut engaged in what everyone else was doing. THE HAIRCUT: It was O.K.... I specifically asked for 2 things. Cut my dogs hair on his butt pretty short and He's a Pomeranian, his hair gets matted behind his ears they are small (size of a nickel) so please cut those.... Well, She cut his hair on his butt short and asked me if it was okay. I saw her clip behind one of his ears so I assumed she got both....NOPE. I came home and was petting my dog, felt both matte's still on both sides. One was untouched the other she cut a little off... I'm sure there are girls there that do a good job and care but I'm going to find a new place. read more

I love the groomers here. Our pup always looks good after getting groomed here. We also have not had any problems and they understand the cut we want. They also take pictures so you can just say that you want it cut just like last time and they will look up the picture. read more

I usually go to Petsmart in Grand Rapids and they keep their integrity with them store-wide. The manager assisted me in gathering crickets for Ringo, my chameleon. The checkout was a breeze. Everyone was working hard and very friendly. I enjoy a place that people let me rave about my pets. Also check out their selection of reptiles! Got my kittens nails clipped here because she is a nightmare to do at home and all I can say is I'm impressed. It only took 5 minutes and she was so good! The cute little lady with glasses did so well with my little Mila. Very happy with the results and I will keep coming back to this location for her nail clippings! Good price as well. read more
