Late post but deserving of one... The experience I celebrated my 30th birthday with my close friends around Chef Matthew's beautiful dining table, at his Boutique Restaurant. We were greeted with an intimate setting, dimmed lights, smooth tunes, and mouth watering aromas from the kitchen. Needless to say, the 4 course meal was nothing short of delicious (my favorite being the 8-hr roasted lamb shank). Chef Matthew's From first email till the meet up, he was prompt in responding and professional. He listened to what my requests were and presented a menu that suited all of my guest palate! For the service and quality that he provided his prices are very reasonable especially 3-days before Christmas! Seeing as though it was my 30th birthday I asked to bring extra decor (simple stuff) and he was very accommodating. -Did I enjoy the experience: YES -Would I recommend: YES (and I did, think my aunt booked the week after). -Would I dine again: YES read more

I would definitely recommend Chef Matthew and Boutique for your private dining needs and catering. I attended a friend's private birthday dinner and was blown away by the intimate setting and ambiance at Boutique. There were 8 of us and we were able to byob (wine in our case) so it allowed us to converse and truly enjoy ourselves! The food was amazing and I truly appreciated the fact that Chef Matthew took the time out to make us feel at home. He explained every dish he prepared and served us. Not only was he very professional, but he was extremely humble, very personable and very welcoming. I would without a doubt recommend his services and will hopefully use for my own private dining get together experience in the near future read more

Chef Matthew set up an amazing space, with amazing food, and amazing service. I contacted him about a private dinner with my family for my wife's birthday. I expressed to him my desire to make a special evening for her, but taking into consideration that COVID is still an issue, and that we wanted to keep away from other people as much as possible. He provided me with a menu that had multiple options that all fell within the requirements I provided. It was extremely difficult to narrow down the choices because EVERYTHING on the menu sounded AMAZING! He listened to everything I said, and absolutely knocked it out of the park! Everything Chef Matthew made for us was so delicious... there were NO leftovers, at all. The space is absolutely beautiful. The dining area looked amazing. There's a comfortable lounge area at the rear of the loft where my family and I were able to relax prior to dinner being served. Just as a point of information, the space is so beautiful, that we were able to have a photographer come for a photoshoot with my family throughout the space. All in all, we had a wonderful experience. One that none of us, especially my wife, will soon forget. I highly recommend Chef Matthew and Boutique BK. You will not be disappointed. read more

My boyfriend hired Chef Matt to surprise me with a Harry Potter-themed birthday dinner - they absolutely knocked it out of the park!! Or Quidditch court, really. Whichever. Chef Matt created a whole meal to suit the theme - and everything was gluten-free to meet my annoying dietary restrictions. (I think they're annoying - my bf says Chef Matt was absolutely responsive and willing to work with our needs.) AND Chef Matt showed up in full HP costume with props and Hogwartian dishes and lighting. A night of nerdy fun I'll never forget!! read more

Chef Matthew came to our house for a private dinner party that was a gift to my wife and I. He arrived on time to get the first course served as scheduled and everything moved on schedule. Food was great. Brussel sprout salad and risotto ball to start we're great and really display his complexity of flavors. Rrally good short rib that falls off the bone and solid halibut. Short rib was star of the show. Finished with great tiramasu desert. Chef Matthew is very genuine and his personality leaves you feeling g like you've known him for years. We'd recommend Chef Matthew. read more

Chef Matthew is an incredible person & his food is delectable. I hired Matthew for a 5 course in-home chef experience for two and he did not disappoint. His communication before the dinner experience was terrific. I told him some of our favorites dishes, the vibe that I was going for, and we worked together to craft a wonderful menu (which he also printed with a custom message from me to the guest of honor). Chef Matthew arrived on time, and was quite pleasant. We were eating within 30 minutes of his arrival. I selected the following: arancini risotto ball (ah-mazing!), lamb lollipops (there are no words to describe how great this dish was), grilled skirt steak (there are no words to describe how great this dish was), Mediterranean lobster tail (incredible!), banana bourbon bread pudding (we were so full by this point, but this was an awesome finish). The presentation of each dish was beautiful and each dish was brimming with flavor. Chef Matthew's service was on point. He gave sufficient spacing between meals, and was willing to speed up/slow down based on our vibe. He also poured water and wine. At the end of the meal, he left our kitchen spotless (loaded the dishwasher, washed dishes, wiped appliances). We also had the opportunity to chat, and he was very interested in our feedback of our meal -- he cares about his craft a lot. We were also able to hear more about his business and the private dining space he operates -- which I can't wait to visit. Overall, the experience was top of the line. I expected good food -- but I wasn't expecting food and service that was out of this stratosphere. I wish I could afford to do it every night. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed! read more

Chef Matt is responsive, professional, creative, energetic and driven. I believe I found him here on Yelp to be our personal chef for my husband's birthday dinner. We were visiting Brooklyn with friends and family including young children. Chef Matt allowed us to have a deliciously curated dinner without having to lug and strollers or diaper bags and we could actually enjoy ourselves. Chef Matt was collaborative and easy to work with. He had some great ideas to modernize some of my husband's favorites. I also appreciated how down to earth he is. Probably has to do with his Pittsburgh roots! ;) Thank you Chef Matt! read more

Chef Matt is the best, professional, Courteous, prompt and organize. He knew what his mission was and he came in and delivered. When a family can sit down to eat and not speak while eating, then you know, you have done something right. Thanks again chef. P.S I'm still waiting from the recipe for your herb sauce. read more

Matthew did an amazing job at our at home dining experience. He carefully planned a perfect menu for 6. He arrived on time and first course was perfectly timed. His food is nothing short of amazing. Thank you Matthew for an amazing evening! read more

Chef Matthew and his team catered our wedding in New York in November, and we can't say enough about how happy we were! We planned our wedding from out of town, and Chef Matthew was responsive and patient through the whole process. Immediately from the first tasting at his test kitchen, we could tell how much creativity and care he puts into his cuisine and presentation. More importantly, he executed this all flawlessly for our reception of over 150 people! The food and service were among the highlight our guests mentioned to us later. Outside of the outstanding food and service, we loved how flexible Boutique BK was in accommodating our needs and budget, for example in staffing the bar and coat check, and helping us to select glassware and serving arrangement we thought would best fit the venue. We definitely recommend Chef Matthew for any major event or wedding! Hurry before they are all booked up! read more

Boutique BK - FOR THE WIN!!! We have dined in restaurants throughout the world, but this was my best experience to date. We booked our dinner with Chef Matthew Ricketts over a month ago and he surpassed our every expectation. The experience started shortly after I contacted him. He explained how the private dinners work at his restaurant and then worked with us to customize OUR menu based on our dietary preferences, we are VERY finicky with our meals. We made a few changes during the process and Chef Matthew, did not hesitate to meet our needs. When we arrived at his restaurant, he greeted us with a friendly smile as if we were family or friends whom he had not seen in a number of years. Since my wife and I arranged an intimate dinner for two he sat us at the "Chef's" counter over-looking the kitchen. He was not only focused on creating our fresh and amazing meal but he engaged us with great conversation during the process, without missing a beat. The food excited our palettes from start to finish: A perfectly balanced New Orleans Seafood Gumbo w/ Sweet Tiger Prawns, Blue Crab and Chilean Sea Bass that was seared and seasoned perfectly. Immediately, I could tell he took his time with the roux and we watched him treat the delicate Sea Bass with the respect that the prized fish deserved. I had a Braised Beef Short Rib w/Honey roasted carrots (delicious) and Shishito peppers. No knife was required for the ribs as they were fork tender. I forgot to mention our Scallop appetizer was prepared perfectly and honestly was one of best if not the BEST preparations I've had. He uses all fresh ingredients and executed the dishes just as you'd expect a Le Cordon Blue graduate to executed them. Bottom line, if you are looking for a luxury dinner experience with an amazing personal touch, I strongly urge you to contact Chef Matthew!!! read more

I can only assume the 14 five star reviews preceding mine were written by relatives. Calling the experience "Amatuer Hour" insults amateurs. Where to begin: for $1,200 the six of us sat down to a five course meal with a wine pairing. That pairing was 3 bottles of mismatched wine of the $13.00 a bottle retail variety. We ran over to my house to grab some wine to finish the meal. The food ranged from serviceable to mediocre to lukewarm and tasteless. Chef Matt is a pleasant sort. We all wondered if he had ever done this before. And we all left hungry. read more

I'm happy to have found Chef Ricketts. He's not only an excellent cook but his customer service is superb. I needed a celebration thrown together fast for Sunday night. On a whim, I contacted Chef Ricketts late Saturday night with the fleeting hope that I would hear from him Sunday morning at best. Instead, he responded right away and let me know he was available to assist. From there, we hammered out a menu well past midnight. He was flexible, responsive and crystal clear. He then showed up on time to our apartment to whip up a fabulous dinner in no time. His cooking is amazing and his prep is seamless. I can't wait to use him again! read more

My wife (ahem,then-fiancé ) and I had our rehearsal dinner at Boutique BK the night before our wedding. Being the first time several members of our families met, we had high expectations for the evening. Chef Matt took good, good care of us and created an amazing experience--from the ambience to the menu, which included a combination of Haitian and Mexican dishes to reflect our respective backgrounds. You can't find any other place quite like this. Very Brooklyn, very intimate, very out of the ordinary. Perfect for first dates, anniversaries, and any other special occasion. read more
