Not far from the Notre Dame cathedral, is a restaurant Hotel George V the concierge team highly recommended, Boutary which focuses on caviar tastings. The restaurant is intimate and service was excellent, with every dish artfully presented modern in the perfect gourmet portion. If you have a palate for exquisite caviar and learn details of its origin complexities, this is perfect place for á delicate gastronomic adventure. So elated to have dined at Boutary, and so will you. Recommend

I cannot overstate this - this was the most decident and amazing caviar experience I've ever had! All the dishes were very creative and the flavors meshed so well even though you'd never have thought it. We did the upgraded 7 course and it was so well worth it. Amazing amazing experience.

Some people say Paris is more beautiful in the rain. I have to agree because the rainy evening I spent at Boutary was one of my favorite parts of my recent trip. Boutary is a restaurant offering tasting menus featuring caviar and Champagne. This offering drew me in like a moth to a flame, and coupled with the fact that my bestie told me it was a must based on her experience on her own recent trip, I booked a resi for myself and my sister and dad. This was an absolute treat. The Boutary house has been established since 1888 and have their own sturgeon to produce the highest quality caviar. You can choose from a caviar tasting or opt for one of the coursed menus that features caviar. We went with the 3-course tasting that is priced at 99 Euro. It starts with a bump of caviar as well as a phenomenal description of the restaurant and its heritage. Then it moves on to both an appetizer and entree that feature caviar. You finish with your choice of dessert. I would not say the portions are overwhelmingly large, but they aren't tiny either. For the price, it was an absolutely fabulous experience and filled with caviar. On top of the life of luxury I experienced eating so much caviar in one sitting, I also got to pair my experience with Champagne and some delicious white wine. The atmosphere at Boutary is intimate, cozy and elegant with the service to match. I would definitely put this as a stop on your Paris list if you want something special.

I was looking for an elegant but not over-the-top spot for a dinner in Paris, and came across a recommendation for Boutary. Overall, it was a lovely experience, with a few small caveats [more on that below]. The food itself was really, really good - with attention to detail both on the taste and the visual side. Their specialty - the caviar - that they cultivate at the Black Sea coast was quite pleasant and reminded of childhood flavors (before it became the "extravagance" it is today). The service was a tad distracted at times, with a few faux pas that they fixed quickly and readily. While the service all up might need a bit more polishing for the place to qualify for a Michelin star, I have to say that, compared to my subsequent meals in Paris, the team at Boutary was by far the most friendly and accommodating, especially Frédéric. The place is small but elegant (with lots of red, which I don't mind but it might be not to everyone's taste), and is tucked away in a side street off the main tourist tracks in Saint Germain des Pres, so it is quiet and cute. Circling back to the food, among the things that stood out to me on the 7-course version of the tasting menu was the dessert: between the two options, I decided to go with the Cuban-themed chocolate one that may have sounded exotic but turned out to be delightful. I was not sure how I felt about the promise of an infusion of Cuban cigar smoke and mojito in a dessert but was beyond pleasantly surprised. Quite a high note to end the dinner, and clearly showed the chef's mastery in this department. All in all, it was a pleasant evening.

Incredible dining experience. Very attentive service, every dish was a work of art both in presentation and in taste. Cozy ambiance perfect for a date or intimate family gathering. I was particularly blown away by the caviar potato appetizer and the desserts.

How this place doesn't have a star- or two- is beyond me. Had such an incredible meal here!! We did the 5 course tasting menu and 3 glass wine tasting and every course was better than the next. Their signature potato dish was the star and not far behind was their caviar selection. The staff were so lovely and had such great conversation with them. The vibe of the entire place was great! Would 1000% return. Book and you won't regret!

This place is very special. They farm their own caviar. They had a 7 course menu or a 5 course menu. We ordered the 7 course menu and it was superb. The service was impeccable, the waiter spoke multiple languages and was very informative. The ambience was ok. They have a Michelin star. It a bit pricey and if you are up for some fine dining this is a good option.

We tried Boutary for the first time tonight and it was absolutely amazing. The food was top notch, the service was very attentive and warm. The restaurant was chic with the upstairs dining room inspired by kintsugi with the gold in the cracked walls. We did the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Every wine selection paired perfectly and they were very accommodating with anyone's preferences. We added a three course caviar menu as well and the caviar tastings were some of the best we had. If you are in Paris, this is definitely a place to come and enjoy.

This meal is going down in my personal history as a top 5 of all time. Our server, Charles, was so pleasant and informative about every dish we were enjoying. The caviar assortment to start the night was fascinating and delicious. Each course that followed was better than the next. I would love to go back and have that meal again and again. Definitely going on my list to go back to the next time we are in Paris.

5 Star meal and worth the splurge in Paris! Make sure you make reservations well in advance. This gem is worth it. Atmosphere is bold, trendy and upscale but romantic. A very unusual combination yet it works. We started with a caviar and champagne tasting. Wonderful! The appetizer we had was the Pomme de Terre. We only ordered one to share. THAT was a mistake. It was so delicious I could have just had that for dinner. It was unbelievably amazing and decadent. My husband and I still talk about it. I ordered for my main course the Wild Cod and my husband Pork, prepared in various ways with different cuts. It must have been a special for the night because I cannot see it on the current menu. Both dishes were impeccably presented and prepared. It was quite the experience dining here. Visited June 2017

Pricey place but really good. The chef is half Japanese-half Korean so there is a ton of Asian influence in the cuisine here. Each course was paired with high end Bordeaux wines and we finished the entire meal off with a Polish flavored vodka. Honestly the pictures don't do the food justice. So many quality ingredients and such well composed meals. I was in awe. It's almost sacrilegious that this place doesn't have a Michelin star. Whatever the reason it is, it can't be the food. The decor was interesting. Most of the lighting was in the walls and the red backdrop of the restaurant gave it a pretty unique feeling. This place has a Russian name, and an Asian chef who is preparing French food! Whodathunk? Not so humbly submitted, Michael C.

The service is very good! The waiter even have flash light ready for customer to take picture of the food every dish is delicious. The ice cream is very special, it is basil ice cream. This restaurant is highly recommend.

GO HERE! I know this might not show up as the top restaurant in Paris because it lacks a large quantity of reviews, but I promise it's delicious and you'll love it! My boyfriend and I came here for a nice meal on our last night in Europe before heading back to the US and it was wonderful. I'm gluten free and pescatarian and they easily and willingly accommodated the tasting menu to my needs. Every course was so delicious and the wine was equally as wonderful. This place will have a Michelin Star (or two) in the next year or so. Go now before it gets even more expensive!

We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

The worst part was the bread in the soup. It tasted stale which ruin the flavor of the soup. I had to finish without the bread. Escargot - Another disappointment. What made escargots special was the garlic butter and herb. Here, there were the herbs, no garlic, and French is famous with their butter but I taste oil but not buttery. Other places I actually get excited dipping the bread into the garlic butter but not here. Pan seared Foie gras - The quality of Foie Gras was definitely there. It's not as well seared as I hope but they managed to cook it through without overcooking it. The size of Foie Gras is kind of scary, it's like a small piece of rib eye steak. With just the onion soup and Foie Gras, I could barely swallow anything. Generous portion.

We headed to Chez Janou, a Paris institution. I hadn't been in years, but my son insisted we go back because, according to him, they have the best chocolate mousse in Paris. Judging by the lineup, half the city; and every tourist with an Instagram account showed up. Thankfully we had a 2pm reso. Here's the thing, though. Everyone talks about the mousse, but the food deserves just as much attention. I'd also forgotten how much I love the 3rd arrondissement. Wander a few minutes from the restaurant and you'll find beautiful art galleries, a gorgeous little park, and some of the best boutique shopping in Paris. It's one of those neighbourhoods where you accidentally walk 15,000 steps without realizing it. Now, here's your game plan. Start with the escargots or the gambas to share. For your main, order the farci provençal or the foie de veau. The farci is like a French version of a stuffed pepper: yummy comfort food with a southern coast twist. As for the foie de veau... I actually ordered it by mistake. I thought I was getting regular veal. Out came veal liver. Best mistake of the day. I love liver. My mom makes an incredible liver and onions, so I'm a tough judge. This was outstanding. Rich, buttery, perfectly cooked and perfectly salted. It was so good I immediately texted my mom and told her she's coming here the next time she's in Paris. Drum roll, please... The chocolate mousse. Was it worth all the hype? Yep. There are no fancy swirls or little artistic desserts here. A server simply walks over carrying what looks like a white industrial-sized bowl of chocolate mousse and casually drops a mountain of it onto your plate. Everyone grabs a spoon and starts digging in. It's wonderfully French. Simple. Unpretentious. Ridiculously good. So yes, Chez Janou lives up to the hype. But don't just come for the mousse. Come for the lunch, stay for the neighbourhood, and spend the afternoon getting happily lost in one of the best corners of Paris. That's a Friday well spent.

To top off the wonderful food was the friendly, gracious service through which it was provided. These two gentleman made our final evening the best. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

This is the kind of place that you should be searching for when you come to Paris. Small and…read moreintimate, with well executed dishes and exceptional service. These smaller bistro type eateries are the lifeblood of the local cuisine. They consistently offer reasonably priced dishes that are full of flavor and technique. The wine and drink options are well catered to the menu and they provide options for most price points. The service we experienced was exactly what you want... our server had plenty of suggestions based on the offerings of the day. The service was attentive and responsive... not much more than you could ask for. I had the duck breast being offered... it was served alongside crispy potatoes, green beans, and a salad. Adding in the onion soup and a glass of wine... it quickly became a King's dinner at a very reasonable price. I would be more than happy to eat here again and look forward to exploring the rest of the menu offering many local and classic French options.
