This is an extraordinary Michelin experience-style restaurant. There is no real menu other than a wine menu. You just choose how many courses you want your tasting menu to consist of and whether or not you'd like to add a wine pairing and caviar tasting to start. It can get quite expensive but you have a lot of options to fit your budget. As frame of reference, we went all in with a 7 course tasting menu accompanied with a pairing of five wines and added caviar tasting and it came to ~$700 for two. This is in line with the prices of other high-end Michelin places around the world so it's not all that egregious, you just have to know what type of place this is before you book. As with any other fancy tasting menu experience I've participated in, some dishes weren't great while others make the list for best-of-all-time. Specifically at Boutary I found the first several courses to be particularly underwhelming. But the last several courses they redeemed themselves many times over. They made us feel special by giving us one dish that they said we were the first to try it, and overall I do feel like the served us more than seven courses. So they are certainly generous. There were two dishes in particular that stood out. One was what I think was an aged Galician beef which looked raw but didn't taste raw and was absolutely delicious. It was like a French wagyu, and as tourists visiting from the US this was exactly the type of French representation we were after. The second stand out dish was this mashed potatoes and caviar combo, one they said that has been on their menu since they first opened. That dish in particular leveled up this entire experience for us. The aforementioned beef dish was brilliantly paired with a French red wine which elevated that dish further, but the rest of the wines were white wines and didn't necessarily seem to be thoughtfully paired with any particular dish. But they give you quite a bit of wine with each tasting and we walked out pretty tipsy. The staff here are very professional, and speak English (if you're visiting and that matters to you). In fact, most of the other diners in there at the same time we were also were English-speaking. This doesn't seem to be a local spot, but I could be wrong. Some people say Paris is more beautiful in the rain. I have to agree because the rainy evening I spent at Boutary was one of my favorite parts of my recent trip. Boutary is a restaurant offering tasting menus featuring caviar and Champagne. This offering drew me in like a moth to a flame, and coupled with the fact that my bestie told me it was a must based on her experience on her own recent trip, I booked a resi for myself and my sister and dad. This was an absolute treat. The Boutary house has been established since 1888 and have their own sturgeon to produce the highest quality caviar. You can choose from a caviar tasting or opt for one of the coursed menus that features caviar. We went with the 3-course tasting that is priced at 99 Euro. It starts with a bump of caviar as well as a phenomenal description of the restaurant and its heritage. Then it moves on to both an appetizer and entree that feature caviar. You finish with your choice of dessert. I would not say the portions are overwhelmingly large, but they aren't tiny either. For the price, it was an absolutely fabulous experience and filled with caviar. On top of the life of luxury I experienced eating so much caviar in one sitting, I also got to pair my experience with Champagne and some delicious white wine. I was looking for an elegant but not over-the-top spot for a dinner in Paris, and came across a recommendation for Boutary. Overall, it was a lovely experience, with a few small caveats [more on that below]. The food itself was really, really good - with attention to detail both on the taste and the visual side. Their specialty - the caviar - that they cultivate at the Black Sea coast was quite pleasant and reminded of childhood flavors (before it became the "extravagance" it is today). The service was a tad distracted at times, with a few faux pas that they fixed quickly and readily. While the service all up might need a bit more polishing for the place to qualify for a Michelin star, I have to say that, compared to my subsequent meals in Paris, the team at Boutary was by far the most friendly and accommodating, especially Frédéric. The place is small but elegant (with lots of red, which I don't mind but it might be not to everyone's taste), and is tucked away in a side street off the main tourist tracks in Saint Germain des Pres, so it is quiet and cute. Circling back to the food, among the things that stood out to me on the 7-course version of the tasting menu was the dessert: between the two options, I decided to go with the Cuban-themed chocolate one that may have sounded exotic but turned out to be delightful. I was not sure how I felt about the promise of an infusion of Cuban cigar smoke and mojito in a dessert but was beyond pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was chic with the upstairs dining room inspired by kintsugi with the gold in the cracked walls. We did the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing. 5 Star meal and worth the splurge in Paris! Make sure you make reservations well in advance. This gem is worth it. Atmosphere is bold, trendy and upscale but romantic. A very unusual combination yet it works. We started with a caviar and champagne tasting. Wonderful! The appetizer we had was the Pomme de Terre. We only ordered one to share. THAT was a mistake. It was so delicious I could have just had that for dinner. It was unbelievably amazing and decadent. My husband and I still talk about it. I ordered for my main course the Wild Cod and my husband Pork, prepared in various ways with different cuts. It must have been a special for the night because I cannot see it on the current menu. Took my husband here for dinner for his birthday. The restaurant is known for their cavier. We had their tasting menu and it was amazing.

Pricey place but really good. The chef is half Japanese-half Korean so there is a ton of Asian influence in the cuisine here. Each course was paired with high end Bordeaux wines and we finished the entire meal off with a Polish flavored vodka. Honestly the pictures don't do the food justice. So many quality ingredients and such well composed meals. I was in awe. It's almost sacrilegious that this place doesn't have a Michelin star. Whatever the reason it is, it can't be the food. The decor was interesting. Most of the lighting was in the walls and the red backdrop of the restaurant gave it a pretty unique feeling. If you are in Paris and looking for a really special dining experience, please do yourself a favor and try to book a table at Boutary. This was my first visit to Paris and I wanted to take my wife somewhere special for our first wedding anniversary. Boutary achieved that and changed the game for a fine dining experience. Every dish was beautifully explained and arranged and their wine pairings were dead on with enhancing each meal. Not only was the food spectacular (and their signature dish is one of the best bites of food I've had) but the wait staff was incredibly accommodating. Even with it being a tasting menu, we told them my wife was pregnant and they went above and beyond making sure everything she was served was safe to eat for the baby and yet still delicious. To top it off, our waiter Frederic recommended a few places to visit in Montmartre and forgot to hand us the list he wrote. He followed up the next day via email with everything we needed to do in the area and places to eat and drink. Frederic, along with the entire staff, set the bar incredibly high in terms of service, professionalism, and all around just great people. TLDR: 10/10 Just go here and have an amazing time. GO HERE! I know this might not show up as the top restaurant in Paris because it lacks a large quantity of reviews, but I promise it's delicious and you'll love it! My boyfriend and I came here for a nice meal on our last night in Europe before heading back to the US and it was wonderful. I'm gluten free and pescatarian and they easily and willingly accommodated the tasting menu to my needs. Every course was so delicious and the wine was equally as wonderful. One of our best meals in Paris. We did the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairing. Service was exceptional. Our waiter was very attentive and explained the dishes well. Courses were also served at a good pace. My fav dishes: The first starter with a spoonful of caviar put on our hand - very fresh and light. The second starter with foie gras, smoked eel, nuts and light pickle slice with Jerusalem artichoke sauce - absolutely dynamite! And all desserts with green apples taste so refreshingly good. The entree of black-end steak was very well made. Cooked to perfection. I wish the meat could have some fat to add some richness though. But that's only my personal preference. This restaurant reminds me of Buzzfeed's Worth It series for the $$$ price point. We had a delicious five course meal including monkfish cheeks, steak and root vegetables, potato cake and caviar, and raspberry sorbet, to name a few highlights. The waiter was extremely professional and accommodated all of our questions in English. This restaurant is an excellent example of high class French food with striking red, black, and white decor. We dined at Boutary during or visit to Paris last year. If was amazing. I was so excited to dine again during our visit this year. Last year, the meal was special. The combination of flavor and texture in the food was exceptional. Tonights meal was totally different. The flavors were decent, but not exceptional. The textures were good on two of the five dishes, but missed the mark on three of the dishes. It was like the restaurant was under new ownership (I don't think this is the case). I heard the owner opened a new restaurant and was at the new restaurant during our meal. Makes sense to me since the dining experience we had tonight was shockingly poor.
