Neither of us had any experience with Muay Thai before but we were up for the physical and mental challenge of learning something new. They do offer a trial class for you to go and see if you like the atmosphere and the sport itself. I would highly recommend doing a few private lessons to really master some basics that you can then implement in the class. That's what we did, we did private lessons weekly for close to 3 months before enrolling in the classes themselves. Im glad that we did that as I felt much more knowledgeable and comfortable going into class and knowing what I needed to work on to improve. The people that work there are wonderful and the students are great too! Everyone is very inviting and friendly which I think is important for a new person stepping into an atmosphere, that from the outside, might look intimidating. If you're considering a martial art to try Muay Thai is fun and an intense workout! But they do also offer BJJ, I do not practice this so cannot personally touch on it, but I have friends who do those classes and they love them! All in all, it's a great facility with amazing people making it a fun experience, intense training session, all for an affordable price. You're missing out if you don't at least look into Hinds!

Absolute toxic environment, I was sparring with one of…read morethe Muay Thai trainers named Brian, it was going good, nice and control and then out of nowhere he tried to knockout me out but thankfully I blocked it. I didn't know how to react at the moment. Also, the jui-jitsu trainer named Kyle is just absolute trash, does not know how to talk to people and got very mad at me and started having a personal vendetta towards me cause I didn't give him a handshake and I recently found he actually went to prison. When I DMed the hinds combat admin about this they didn't do anything about it. I went to their other place in Midtown and the owner Sean actually kicked me out for calling out the BS. I asked for my money back and he refused, it escalated to him getting in my face where I pushed him back and one of the other trainers named Dom came out of nowhere and sucker punched me. I reported him to the police and he left in handcuffs. Sean I think showed how trash and ignorant he is along with the rest of the place. I wouldn't recommend this place to someone who wants quality training

I had a leg injury and visited a chiropractor several times, but my progress was very slow. After only three deep-tissue massage sessions with Danny, I noticed a significant improvement and was able to gradually return to my normal activities. I have also had a great experience with Danny's strength classes. In the past, I attended Orangetheory and was injured several times because the trainers were not always able to notice or correct improper form. Danny gives each person individual attention and takes the time to correct posture and technique. Since training with him, I have been able to build strength without getting injured. His training also improves mobility, balance, and the movements we use in everyday life. The singing class is another great addition. The instructor is very dedicated, patient, and genuinely invested in helping each student improve. I'm also very excited that the studio is now offering Pilates reformer classes at an affordable price. It is wonderful to have access to so many high-quality fitness and wellness services in one welcoming place. Danny and his team are knowledgeable, attentive, and truly care about their clients.

It really helped my back pain and I go regularly now.

I had to pay a down payment and monthly fee after. ALL of the coaches are super friendly, approachable and knowledgeable about the body and exercises practiced here. Overall, I am a happy customer and would recommend this box to anyone!!!

CFQ and their types of xfit workouts are helping me discover more of the 'functional' areas of fitness, beyond just lifting heavy things, but pushing my body (and psyche!) in new ways. I kept my regular gym membership just to have that option when I'm not feeling like a class, but if one's budget allows, it's worth investing in a trial at least to test out the vibe!

The coaches have a very pragmatic and open-minded approach to fighting and regularly incorporate useful principles from other disciplines. You don't normally go to Muay Thai expecting to practice the D'Amato shift or spar someone who throws lead side kicks from southpaw, but I have found myself doing exactly that more than once. You will definitely take away something valuable every time you attend class!

In summary, if you look for a top-notch gym, you must check out Raktan Muay Thai 1st.

I started taking pilates 7 years ago (the first incarnation of PilatesWorks was actually at the Yoga Room LIC location then moving to the original Workout Factory before getting their own dedicated studio). I love the way it makes me feel - strong, flexible and positive. I try to come at least once a week to get my fix. The studio is conveniently located on Jackson Ave - right across from the foot of the Pulaski Bridge. It's a beautiful space that gets a lot of light and is also spotless. The machines are well kept and they have all the props a pilates lover needs. There are many classes - classic reformer, tower and jumpboard classes as well as combo classes - offered throughout the day, each week. I love the schedule as there are early morning, mid-day and evening classes - so it's impossible to make an excuse to not get your pilates on! And probably the best thing about PilatesWorks and what brings a lot of clients back - the teachers. Daniel G. is fantastic, challenging and hilarious. Christina is also awesome - and I love her playlists. Every teacher that I have encountered have been very well versed in pilates and really focus on form and the comfort level of their students. So look no further - this studio has got it all. To quote the amazing PilatesWorks t-shirts - "Do Pilates. It Works!"

I get that they're going for a very bro coded boxing gym vibe, but the locker rooms in this place were just dirty. Gross stuff in the corners in the bathroom, and the toilet itself looked like it hadn't been cleaned or wiped down in some time. The workout itself was challenging but also had a very small portion of actual boxing for being a boxing gym/class. About 75% of the class was running and conditioning. There weren't enough boxing bags for everyone to have their own, so we switched off with a partner who did other body weight exercises while we boxed. The boxing combinations weren't very complex. The instructor was hard to understand. If this was the only workout available at the time slot I was looking to work out at that day I'd take it, but this was not a great experience for me. That said, if you love running indoors in a circle and don't mind a little bathroom grime this might be your new favorite place.
