As a guy, I wasn't quite sure what to expect initially from Pilates - but what I've learned from…read morethe talented and experienced instructors at the Pilates Core is that this body conditioning system can be truly transformative and, despite current stereotypes, is not just for women. There are plenty of articles that explore this in greater depth, but suffice to say that I've really enjoyed the physical challenges and rewards of Pilates. I HIGHLY recommend the Pilates Core, whether you're just starting out (as I did 18 months ago) or if you're an advanced practitioner. The Romana's Pilates-certified instructors are friendly but also push/motivate to maximize your workout. When I started, I was pretty strong but really inflexible, and they've been able to focus on developing greater flexibility as well as core strength development. Why do I continue to study at the Pilates Core? -Romana's Pilates Certification: In short, I trust that my instructors are experienced, educated, and authentic. -The Results: In combination with a change in diet, I lost more than 30 pounds (5'10", went from 190+lbs. to 160 lbs.) after beginning Pilates, and have developed greater core strength and increased flexibility. I owe a lot to Pilates, as it reinforces the body-mind connection and has been a major component of my health-conscious lifestyle. -The Value: Again, this is authentic Pilates, and I'm fortunate to be able to study under such a quality program. I see myself continuing as a lifelong Pilates student.

The Pilates Core is outstanding! All of the instructors are certified in Romana's Pilates, which is…read moreessentially the truest form of Pilates. Romana Kryzanowska was a student of Joseph Pilates himself (his protege); therefore, the Pilates taught here is extremely true to its original form. (Beware of Pilates classes at gyms and rec centers--they are often NOT true to the original.) The Pilates Core offers classes (mat, reformer, and other) at varying levels as well as private instruction. I have done both and found all of the instructors to be very attentive and friendly. They will challenge you but will also be mindful of your needs. I originally started Pilates here to assist me with physical therapy for an injury - not only did I get stronger and healthier, but I got hooked! I've been a student here for over 3 years now. Pilates is an extraordinary way to get stronger, leaner, and healthier. I think it's great regardless of your athletic ability, gender, size, or even if you have had an injury--they will meet you were you're at and you'll progress from there. I have never felt better, and I owe so much of it to The Pilates Core! They also have plenty of evening and weekend availability for those of us with day jobs, and I have found them to be extremely accommodating in terms of scheduling.

Burn Boot Camp is the best workout in the Western suburbs, hand down. It's a highly effective…read moreworkout, efficient, affordable and a whole lot of fun! It's personal training in a small group setting. The workout changes every day so over the course of a week, even if you don't go every day, you work your entire body. Some days are strength training, some are cardio, some are both! I typically burn 300-400 calories - and the workouts are only 45 minutes long - including warm up and cool down. You can't get more efficient than that. The trainer, Grant, will help you modify any exercise to your fitness level. The equipment is state of the art and very clean. They offer FREE CHILDCARE, which is a massive benefit. My kids beg to come with me to Burn because the play room is so much fun, full of (very clean!) toys, arts & crafts and very warm and loving childcare workers. I've been bringing my youngest since she was a baby and I've always felt comfortable with the care provided. A bonus is that you can peek in on the kids through a window throughout your workout, which is great for peace of mind. I had no expectations when I joined Burn 2 years ago. To say it's changed my life is an understatement. I've dropped pounds, inches, and lowered my percentage of body fat. I have more energy than ever, a better attitude and I've made some pretty fantastic friends along the way.

I've been attending Burn for a over a year. Initially I joined for a month and after the month…read morevisited other gyms. I tried the free trials at 3 other local gyms that were comparable to Burn. In the end I chose Burn for the the childcare aspect, the community and the classes. Child care is huge for me because of my smaller Children. The community is great. The culture is uplifting and welcoming. The owner Robyn goes out of her way to make everyone that walks through the door feels welcomed and informed. Grant and Diane follow suit. They train and encourage all members. There are other trainers but I have not worked with them. But from what I know of the culture I'm sure they have that same welcoming and encouraging strength. The classes have different levels of difficulty and can be modified for any type of comfort level. Amy and Jackie are usually at the front desk checking people in and welcoming everyone. They have taken the time to know my kids names and also welcome them when they walk through the door. Truly this place is such a great place for everyone. There is also a sit down consultation to find where you can improve on your eating and see results of the progress you're making. I do not take as much advantage of this but I probably should. I'm not ready to give up my food but I can say I feel stronger and there has been a change to my body. I will recommend Burn to everyone I know. If you're on the fence I say jump. You will not regret it.

This location offers both in person and live stream classes which is pretty cool. Tara was my instructor and she took the time to explain the class and the materials (aka props) that we would be using during the class. They recommend doing the class barefoot, but I was more comfortable keeping my socks on. Beautiful space. Although I didn't join, I would recommend if you are looking for some regular fitness. Good for all levels as modifications are shown for each move.

Fast forward three years and I have taken 114 classes at this location. B3 is amazing and this location is part of my life primarily because of the staff. Mariel is of course terrific, but she doesn't hire just anyone. And, all instructors must first attend a training in Oregon (where the company was founded). While each instructor has certain strengths, they are all great and committed to your individual success while simultaneously making the whole group working out feel like everyone matters. I am one of very few men at this location, but in this day and age I am actually more comfortable being in such a female-oriented space. This location is not for "bros," toxicity, or ego. It is supportive and beautiful, but still makes you feel stronger and ALWAYS better off than when you started.
