I needed an appointment later in the day, and I was mentally prepared to be seen well after my appointment time, as I assumed being one of the last appointments of the day, there could be back up in the schedule. During my visit with Heather Steele, PA to remove basal cell skin cancer my questions were met with vague and impatient responses. The interaction came across as unprofessional and dismissive. When the procedure was over, Heather Steele just exited the room without speaking with me. The communication between patient and health care provider was unprofessional, inadequate and uncaring.

The office is immaculate and the techs pretty friendly. Dr. Mana is a ROCKSTAR in the field of dermatology. Knows her stuff and a brilliant diagnostician. She was quick, thorough, personable and had many suggestions for curing a few other issues with my skin I had no idea would be future problems. Her treatment cured me in 3 weeks, I was tossed around for 4 months suffering bad results from different docs with zero results. Not with her, she cured me. I would highly recommend her to the discerning patient. The only thing I think needs improvement in her bedside manner is that she should suggest a generic Rx along with what she initially prescribes, because there are those of us on a fixed income. Other than that she is super awesome.

I had recently switched insurance and was unaware that I now needed a referral. I live about 45 minutes away and made the drive to my appointment, only to be told upon arrival that I could not be seen without one. While I understand that insurance requirements are ultimately the patient's responsibility, the situation was frustrating--especially given how far I had traveled. I calmly suggested that, as a best practice, the office consider reminding patients about referral requirements in advance, particularly when that information is available at the front desk. When I asked to speak with someone about this, the office manager, Mary Mee, came out to speak with me. Unfortunately, the interaction escalated quickly. Her tone and body language felt dismissive and abrasive from the start. Rather than acknowledging my frustration, she repeatedly interrupted me and spoke over me. When I tried to respond, she raised her voice and then told me to calm down, which only added to the tension. At no point did I feel heard or that any effort was made to address my concern constructively. To be clear, I was not initially looking to file a complaint--I simply wanted to offer feedback that might help prevent similar situations for other patients. Instead, I left feeling more frustrated than when I arrived. It's disappointing that after a decade as a patient, this interaction led me to take my care elsewhere.
