I have been taking my babies to another veterinary clinic for years, I was loyal to them to a fault and they were great with my babies. Recently however, the wait times there were excessive, regardless of appointment time or not. We started to feel like we were just another cog in the wheel and there was no personal attention any longer. Appointments were impossible to come by and my frustration level was starting to rise significantly. After a search on google and yelp I called this clinic and immediately spoke to a real person instead of being placed in a cue. My puppy had been having an upset tummy and I was a bit worried. To my relief Boulevard Veterinary Clinic had an appointment at a convenient time the same morning I called!!! I scheduled the appointment and headed in. The lobby was clean and welcoming. The staff was attentive and gushed over my baby while I filled out the paper work. The veterinarian saw us at our scheduled appointment time and was so gentle and sweet with my sweet girl. The cost was a bit more than my previous clinic. However, I don't think you can really put a price on customer service. We were treated like our time was valuable while receiving excellent care. I think we're ready to make the switch full-time! This is a wonderful clinic!!! read more

Great first visit here. I went to another vet previously and they were very pushy for extra non-core vaccines, but this place wasn't (just informed me that extra vaccines were available if I wanted to get them!) The doctor was very informative and explained everything well and thoroughly! The staff was friendly as well. In the last year, I switched care for my pet from another animal hospital in VB for one that was closer to my parents place. Since I took over the care of one of my pets since he now lives with me, I wanted to find a vet that provided a better experience. I saw nothing but great reviews about Dr. Gawda, and decided to try it out. My dog is now 9 and has had a variety of health issues. Each time I have gotten nothing but excellent care from every staff member. Roscoe has needed a checkup for a blocked bowel and back injury, a series of vaccines, and most recently dental cleaning that had to include teeth extractions. Anyone who knows my dog knows he can be a grump and a biter when it comes to new people and the vet. After one visit, most of the staff was familiar with his personality and despite being a grump, it seems everyone is fond of him when he returns! It's a great feeling knowing that the people taking care of him actually care about him and know his usual behavior. I can't give enough praise for Dr. Gawda. As the owner of an aging dog, the cost of care can be daunting. Every penny I have spent has been worth it because I know my dog has received the best care possible. She is not only an expert in pet health, but she has great skills with pet owners and the pets! My dog is in excellent health and the team did a fantastic job with his teeth extractions. I live in Suffolk now but I never mind taking the trip for Roscoe to see staff here. Dr. Gowda and her staff are amazing and very professional. Dr. Gowda diagnosis my 4 yr old dog (Lucka) with a heart condition that caused high blood pressure. I recently switched from Banfield after an unsatisfactory annual exam for my pups and I am really glad I found this clinic. The personnel are so friendly and seem to really care about my fur babies as much as I do. I popped in to get a refill for one of my dog's medication and the vet tech told me to give my dog a booty scratch for her, I thought that was so sweet for her to remember that my dog loves booty scratches, but then again, what dog doesn't? :) Dr. Gowda is the vet we have seen on our two past visits and she is just so kind, professional, and knowledgeable. read more

I came here because my puppy is having a diarrhea problem. Initially, the staff was very friendly and understanding that I do not have a cellular device that can make calls or texts. I was instructed to fill out the paperwork in my car and come back to the door once completed, I did just that only to realize that I left my wallet at home. They graciously allowed me to leave my dog and come back in with my wallet for payment. The reason for the one star was that the front desk clerk, Katie, called me a liar for not having a phone when in fact I do have a phone, just not cellular access. She went out of her way to call me a liar to the rest of the staff saying "she has a phone, I saw her using it in the car." The veterinarian then came in the room confronted me in a very hostile manner, siding with Katie, that I in fact did have a phone and that I lied about not having one. When I once again explained that it does not have cellular service however I can still play games that do not require internet or WiFi. I cannot make calls or texts. I can play games, watch downloaded videos, that's it. I did not appreciate being called a liar my first time being at that clinic. I will never return here again, and I will most certainly spread the word of my unpleasant first visit to this clinic. Thanks for your help, but I do not appreciate being called a liar. We needed a new vet STAT. I chose to try out this practice based on google reviews, and the fact that it's actually a surgical hospital, because I didn't want to keep getting referred out when things got serious. I am so glad we came here! Dr. Gowda and her staff are excellent. In the last year my three dogs have needed a lot of expert care and surgery due to injuries, a serious infection, and a benign growth. Dr Gowda and staff did t hesitate to stay late on a Friday night to conduct emergency surgery, saving our beloved pet. They are dedicated, kind, and professional, and you can tell right away they are all serious pet lovers. This is next level care. So glad I found them. I was able to walk right in with my injured dog, no appointment, and get seen.. From my experience today, they didn't seem to hide anything unlike other vet hospitals, the vet personally came out and talked to me thoroughly. Great vet and great boarding! Our Great Dane, Venice, always has anxiety when we board her and the first time we boarded her (somewhere in Chesapeake) she lost 10 lbs and would not eat. We took her here instead and the staff was AMAZING. She was scared at first but they took the time to let her warm up to her. We used to have such a hard time leaving her because of her anxiety, but now she does great and loves the staff at Boulevard. They have individual kennels and an outside play area. My family and I have been seeing Boulevard Vet for over 3 years, and we have experienced no issues. Dr. Gowda is very knowledgeable, kind, and respectful to our pets (two dogs and a cat). My dogs get seen regularly for updated shots and wellness checks; one dog has been spayed at the hospital which went well. Our kitten has been seen by Dr. Gowda twice since we got him and everything has been great so far. The prices are affordable for our family too. We appreciate the care that we receive from all the staff; they are great people to interact with while our pets are getting care. When I first walked in, I wasn't sure how the appointment would go, because it's not the fanciest of clinics that I've seen (yet it was very clean, just small and simple). However, the front desk staff, nurses, Dr. Gowda, and appointment clerk were nothing but extremely friendly. Dr. Gowda was very kind to my dog, and she really seemed sympathetic toward his pain. She gave me some options,but when I declined a few tests, she didn't push once for me to do them. I walked out of there with two meds, a cortisone shot for my pup, a draining of his bladder, and examination, all for the same price of an examination alone at another clinic. I have never had so little luck in life to have ended up at this vet. There was a discrepancy with my bill after she forced an unneeded nail trim on me (my pup was at the groomers LESS than a week prior, before moving here). She approved the removal of the charge, but the next visit there were several charges that were higher than an estimate I had received.... weirdly in the exact same amount as the nail trim that was removed. I was speaking with someone about this vet and they said they would never go there because of the price gouging this person does regularly to the customers. I also asked a few questions that I had about vaccines and diseases that were common in this area that I had read about online and I got a "wooooo, Dr. Google again!" complete with childish eyeroll. Yes, I looked online and then came to a vet for information, I didn't need to be spoken down to, admonished, treated poorly, or my information treated as garbage (which was the same info she gave) merely because I found it online. That same person who mentioned the price gouging, also told me that "Dr. Google" is quite the bad word around there. Nevermind that we are at the vet because of what we found, so it's really only helping business. The cherry on the cake? While in the room with her she barked orders at her staff, spoke down about them constantly (in and out of their presence), and at one point even aggressively swatted their hand away only to force them to place it back in precisely the same location. She's a real peach and I can see why the waiting room is a ghost town and they have such a vast availability same-day. Learn from my mistake, stay away. Whatever this place used to be with a different doctor that I read about in the reviews, he's gone and she's there messing up whatever he created. read more

Dr Pozniak is wonderful! She has taken care of my dogs for almost 20 years. I recently had a 14.5 year old havanese go into heart failure. She was able to take appropriate steps to save her life and make appropriate referrals to treat her. She is doing great. She has also performed acupuncture on 2 of my dogs with amazing results. I wanted to share what a lifesaver this veterinary office was for me. Over the summer while playing outside my dog jumped on the deck and hurt his nail. He was limping due to the injury. I was frantic that my dog was in pain. So that evening I attempted to be seen by another emergency vet office. This was a weeknight at about 8 pm. There was a 5 hour wait to be seen. I decided to go home and try the next morning to take my dog somewhere to be seen. I did not have a regular vet other then taking my dog to the clinic inside the pet store for yearly shots. I contacted a few vets and there was no one that could see my dog that day until I contacted Boulevard Veterinary Hospital. They were so nice and helpful. They understood how upset I was and got me in that day for my dog to be treated. When I arrived the staff was so wonderful! I felt at ease that I found someone to treat my dog. My dog was seen and treated and I have been a customer ever since that event. I will continue taking my dog there because they cared so much in helping me! My dog has a terminal illness. That is what every veterinarian told us..."nothing you can do." That was until I was referred by a friend to Dr. Pozniak. Dr. Pozniak spent over 90 minutes with our dog Stu and us. She sat with him on the floor, lovingly, tenderly and compassionately. Not one time, not once!,did she say he was hopeless. Instead, she developed a plan, just like that. A plan that we've flollowed..not complicated..a few natural additions to his food, a change in diet (and all along, she explained why...cut out sugar/starches, they feed the tumor, the herbs curb tumor growth, boost his immune system ). I could go on for hours as to how I feel we were lead to her intentionally. But, bottom line..our dog Stu is back to his old self. His coat is beautiful and his quality of life is awesome. Is the tumor gone? I don't know. It is harder to find. But he us happy. Comfortable. Bright eyed and beautiful. Definitely not the dog who had, chewed raw spots on himself, was losing his coat, he was dull and lethargic. That was 8 months ago. God Bless Boulevard Veterinary Hospital., Dr.Posniak, her amazing knowledgeable staff. We were treated like VIP's. I thought we were pretty special until I realized everyone is treated exactly the same. I brought my dog in there for some other alternative ways to help her with her hip pain. Doctor Pozniak was very rude and seemed rushed. She was in the room for all of 15 minutes and my bill was over $200. Her prices are high, she is very short with people and the girl at the front desk was chewing gum, cursing about her club night the night before, and just real unprofessional. Adopted a senior Lab from the shelter a year ago and chose this vet hospital for his care because Dr. Pozniak is certified in holistic vet medicine. Have been very pleased with their services. Staff are friendly and helpful, Dr. P is thorough, takes her time and explains everything in detail (along with giving advice specific to my dog). Buddy was suffering from terrible itchiness and she tried a couple of things before finding what finally worked. They also have a hydrosurge bath that really helped Buddy with his dry skin. I keep a very meticulously clean home and give my dogs regular baths 3 times a week. I have AKC show dogs that I have an occasional litter or puppies every year and a half. They are indoor dogs that use a litter box. That being said I am new to Virginia Beach. When I moved here I randomly selected a vet. I took only the litter of puppies to the vet to get their vet checks and shots because the parent dogs were both in good health. The vet was amazed at how healthy they were and said that they were beautiful.(gave us a clean bill of health). The puppies went to their new homes the following day (aside from the one that I just couldn't let leave). The same day that her brothers and sister went home I noticed a little bit of scratching which got a little worse each day that passed. Being concerned I took my little puppy in to see the vet. They did a skin scraping and said that the puppy had a bacterial skin infection probably just from irritation from the soap and scratching at it and that it wasn't contagious and gave us an antibiotic. Over the course of the next few days if I was to gauge there was more scratching not less. I googled and looked into it myself. I suspected a mite(sarcoptic mange) infection. I called the vet, informed that I thought that it must be that, who responded with "Oh boy Dr. Google". I felt insulted. I brought the puppies back and urged that this needed to be treated as mange as my puppy was now starting to lose some hair. She kept saying we don't proof of the mite. I read online only 50% of the time you can find one. I am not a vet but I can READ and calling me DR Google was uncalled for and rude. By the way after adding insult to injury they turned around and charged me another $600 for the visit that was caused to their misdiagnosis to begin with. I also had to treat the parent dogs to ensure to eradicate the mite.The fact that the puppies had never left the home aside from going there I knew 100% that the mite was from there. They insisted that the mite cannot live off the dog for any length of time. I told them that I read from several credible sources that they can live 2-6 days off the dog. It can also spread to people. I told him that I believed that it came from their office which is also a boarding facility with a lot of activity. The Dr. said that it didn't come from there because it wasn't possible. I asked about the cleaning procedures and such and said that it would be convenient for them to spread it to get more money from people who found their dog with the mite at a later date. Dr Foley stood up and pointed his finger in my face telling me that I needed to get off my high horse that I was using words that were larger than his liking and that the mite couldn't have came from there. I asked him if he received his doctorate because I was using 9th grade level vocabulary. In my opinion they need to lose their license! Customer Service was awful. Knowledge of animal disease was minimal and they failed to educate me at all on the matters at hand. Misinformed me and then charged me more. That ladies and gentlemen is called Highway robbery! They don't clean up thoroughly and therefore are spreading disease and then charging to eradicate it later. Profiting from their negligence! Don't go there. You will likely come out itchy and a thousand dollars lighter because of it. I will be pressing charges. In the mean time take heed. Do not go there! read more
