Dr. Schwartz is a LIFE SAVER! Literally. I had been going to VMC across the street for 12 years. Poor service, rude staff, and 2 vets that were always overbooked. My kitty had been sick, throwing up, diarrhea, didn't want to play or eat, or be touched, she didn't meow for 2 weeks. When I called VMC on Monday 12/15, they didn't see her until 12/19. They charged me $700 for blood work and sent us home. By 12/23 we spent 12 hours and $1700 in the Vet ER. My kitty had an ultrasound, more blood work, and was sent home with meds. And then by 1/5, but the grace of G-d, my friend Nicole referred my to BLVD PET CLINIC and they saw my kitty within 24 hours. Maria and Brenda in the front were lovely, kind, and compassionate both on the phone and in person. Dr. Schwartz is absolutely WONDERFUL! He was patient and thorough, and after 40 years of owning his own Vet Practice, knew what meds my kitty needed immediately. Within 48 hours she was eating and more social. After 2 weeks, we had completely turned a corner. There have been some small issues, but when I call their office, Dr. Schwartz calls me back within 15 minutes, and has a solution to whatever is ailing my kitty. And always recommends not bringing her in to further traumatize her, and has new meds ready immediately for me to come pick up. I only wish I had found this office 20 years ago when I moved out here to LA, but super grateful this is now our new permanent home and veterinary care facility. My kitty is on her way back to health, and I owe it ALL to Dr. Schwartz! THANK YOU EVERYONE at BLVD PET CLINIC for your love, compassion, and services. LOOK NO FURTHER! During the pandemic I had a friend pass very unexpectedly. So I took in one of her 3 kitties . What vet allows their "help" to hold a CAT OVER THE EXAMINING TABLE BY THEIR TAiL?! This piece of crap vet. The photos are here to prove it. Taken within hours and a well after my visit. My cat still couldn't fully extend his tail!!!! Still after years, my poor baby has issues with his hips and I can pretty much guarantee that this POS Dr and his staff are the reason why!!!! These are from my initial review which got removed. I love Dr. Schwartz and his team! I've been bringing my dog here for a few years now, and I can't say enough good things. Dr. Schwartz is incredibly caring and clearly passionate about animals. About two years ago, my 13-year-old chihuahua (11 years old then) started falling over and could barely walk. After doing x-rays, Dr. Schwartz diagnosed a spine issue that might eventually require surgery--but instead of rushing into something risky, he suggested trying a non-invasive laser treatment first. I'm so grateful he did! It was much more affordable and made a huge difference. My dog was back to himself--no more pain, no more collapsing. Recently, his legs started giving out again. I brought him in yesterday, and Dr. Schwartz recommended some pain medication in addition to continuing the laser therapy. Today, my dog is doing amazing--like nothing ever happened. I've been coming here for two years. And everything about the Vet's office is great. Many vets in the local area (the Valley and LA city) their schedules are usually full and it can take weeks to find an opening. Boulevard is no different, but they will do their best to find a way to reasonably get you in--even if the schedule is packed. Dr. Swartz is very attentive and extremely good considering all factors while deducing non-issues which results in a spot on diagnoses. His staff is friendly and courteous--Dr. Schwartz will usually go along with the least costly option so long as this course of treatment has a reasonable chance of success. Overall the cost of treatment is very fair, the service is phenomenal and Dr. Schwartz has been successful at everything my German Shepherd and cat have thrown at him. Dr. Schwartz was the best vet ever! He has looked after and cared for animals since 2003, thus 22+ years of service for three beloved dogs. In the last six months our smaller dog (10 years of age) has been given the wrong prescription twice, which we ourselves caught but these mistakes should not happen as one must have complete faith in their vet. In the last year the vet failed to diagnose one of our dogs became diabetic and had a hyphenated hernia. Untreated this became the downfall of our little one who just passed this last Friday Jan 24th, 2025. Several phone calls were made to the vets office ie we need help our little one is sick and unable to breathe properly, Monday and Tuesday of this last week, can we bring him in and no response and until this day a week later after the passing of our dog, no response from the vets office. This silence speaks volumes ie the inability to do the job or maintain the responsibility to their trusted clients (considering if the doctor had himself taken ill or a family emergency then why do not the staff reach out to us, can we recommend someone as the doctor is not able to help at this time, this did not happen and again we have been taking our dogs their exclusively nice for just over 22 years, one expects "a" response for that degree of loyalty). Thus no excuses nor forgiveness for no return communication. I am sorry to write his negative review just as it is disappointing that we did not receive the stellar service that we have so enjoyed and trusted these last 21 years. The doctor is close to retiring and his staff are like a revolving door, anyone good and or on top of their game seem to go, thus the stellar service is a thing of the past and sadly not to be repeated. Thus we have begun looking for a new and responsive vet who is on top of their game as Dr. Schwartz once was and in those days second to none. Thus while reading these reviews, understand this one was written of sound mind, and not one filled with grief nor anger, though I cannot tell you had the doctor done his job and been on top of his game, our little guy may well be alive, happy and healthy. This is as constructive and sincere as I can write with remaining ounces of loyalty to the vet and his business who for so many years kept our boys happy n healthy. Dr. Schwartz is the best vet ever! He is the Gordon Ramsay animal doctor of the valley and Doc has saved my 10 year old Yorkie's life multiple times due to his collapsed trachea and enlarged heart. It has taken me a few years to calm down to write this review. My dogs were going to Dr S since I had them. He was just kinda there - not amazing not bad - just there the whole time. However when my dog wasn't drinking water or eating for 24 hours I called them. I was so excited it was a Sunday and they were open however I was told that Dr S couldn't squeeze her in and I should go to urgent care. I said wait you're open and she's been his patient since day one and you're open but won't see her? I then asked to please speak to Dr. S and was told "he'd call me back" fast forward 3 years he never called me back. I ended up going to another local vet who squeezed us in and gave us amazing attention and empathy even though he didn't know me or my dying dog. I strongly recommend you not ever coming to this clinic if you want a vet that cares. This is just a paycheck for him. and Dr S and his staff do NOT care about their patients. DM me if you'd like the good vet info. Even after 3 years I'm still disgusted by the fact not only would he not squeeze us in but he didn't even have the decency to call me. WORST vet experience we've ever had. The doctor didn't take 10 seconds to meet our dog before muzzling him (which he's NEVER needed at the vet before and will now be terrified of in the future). He didn't ask us a single question and didn't give us the opportunity to ask any questions. It felt like being at a deli counter - just a number to churn out as fast as possible. When they brought our pup back from flushing his ear, he had scratches all over his face because the muzzle was SO tight. He was petrified. The doctor didn't explain what the ear infection was, what might've caused it, what to look out for next time, NOTHING. And I didn't even get to ask about my other concerns. This doctor is cold, rude, and has absolutely no bedside manner. If you're not interested in dealing with animals, get out of the business. We will never go back. read more

They have a good groomer for cats, but I would not recommend bringing your cat here for any other reason. Spent $1,000 + over the course of 3 weeks where my cat was misdiagnosed with a Liver infection, was given liver pills and antibiotics that did nothing. Two days later they tell me they made a mistake and his liver was fine. Turns out he had cancer and was at the end of his life (I found this out through another clinic, after wasting weeks of time) He was in so much pain and it was so unnecessary. Had I gone to a specialist (I thought all Vets were qualified as specialists, but guess not) I could've saved him weeks of pain and unnecessary medicine. Wouldn't even refund me for the misdiagnosis. No refund for Liver pills that HE DIDN'T NEED. I didn't get the sense that they really cared about him, or the situation. Money money money. Took him to an emergency clinic where they ACTUALLY knew what they were doing, diagnosed him, and he was peacefully euthanized there. Don't bring your cat here. read more

I've been taking my pets here for a while and although I am not a complainer, I feel the need to share this. I took my dog for a rabies shot and asked if the doctor could take a look at her leg as she had what looked like a sore. Well firstly the vet tech had his hands around her neck and was very agressive with her. She weighs a whopping 11 lbs. With her tail wagging he continued to try to subdue her. When I requested that he loosen his grip a bit, Doctor grunted for me to let him do his job. The Doctor gave the rabies vaccine and then proceeded to look at her leg, after which he grabbed a piece of glass and scraped it to get some blood. He then left the room to look at it and came back with"she has allergies. Gave her another shot and then some medication. Now I know it is not cheap for medical care but tell me why I was charged $375.00 for 10 minute medical appointmen. 80 office visit, 85 for the looking under a microscope, hello isn't that part of the office visit? Then 150 for allergy shot, and 23 for the medication... and then we have the reason for the visit...Rabies vaccine...another 40. Not sure how it is calculated but am feeling a little frustrated with the quality of care and the exorbitant pricing. Needless to say will be looking for another vet. Debbie S read more

Dr. Schwartz is a no nonsense, cost effective vetrinary doctor who treated a very sick rescue foster for a fee that was far more reasonable than nearby vet clinics. He also didn't upsell me, prescribe expensive medicines or schedule unnecessary follow-ups. I had read his reviews and if you need your vet to help you cope or comfort you, then this isn't the clinic. If you need your pet to get better fast for a reasonable cost, I highly recommend this clinic. Very professional, quick and convenient appointments (I have waited a really long time at other nearby clinics) and front desk is on top of the documents you provide - we had a huge file as this dog had been shuffled around. We didn't realize from all the paper work that our rescue had already been spayed! The front office discovered this after 3 other vets missed it. Now our rescue pup is doing great and has a much better quality of life and I'm not struggling to book appointments and figure out how to pay for expensive vet bills. read more

I took my 6 year old dog here for a second opinion about surgery. As soon as we walked in Eve immediately took our information and was very sweet to myself and Tank. We were waiting maybe 5min before Dr. Schwartz saw Tank and gave an examination. He was incredibly thorough and explained everything he was doing. I am so glad I came and saw Dr Schwartz, not only did he determine that the prior diagnosis was incorrect, he was also able to provide a non surgical solution! If that wasn't enough as we were leaving, the Vet tech and Eve asked if Tank had any food allergies before giving him a little treat as we headed out. Dr. Schwartz knows his stuff. He looked after all my dogs when we lived in L.A. I even drove one of our pups almost 200 miles to see him one Sunday because we have crappy vet service here in the Coachella Valley. On the weekends when literally ALL vets here are closed (except the local VCA joint which is a total nonstarter), it's comforting to know that if my pup REALLY needs to be seen by a competent doctor, Dave will take care of him. Exceptional experience at Boulevard Pet Clinic. My 7+ year old rescue cat, Max has gotten an upgrade on quality of life. I have taken Max to 5 different vets and two specialists attempting to figure why his eye was always weeping, and his nose always running and to attempt to treat it. Dr. Schwartz listened to what I had to say and diagnosed a simple, yet chronic ear infection. The poor cat has had this infection for 7 years. It took one 7 day course of medicated ear drops to clear it up. I told the doctor "I brought you cat and you gave me a kitten." He's playing and running around the house incessantly now, his appetite is great. And I found out he can meow. I can't sing the praises higher for Dr. Schwartz and the Boulevard Pet Clinic team. We have been taking our cats and dogs to the doctor for years now and can't recommend him more. read more

We have been taking our dogs there for years and we often supported and stood up for Dr S until recently when we found out what a bad choice we were making for our fur baby. I will explain the reason for the 1 star ... it would be less if allowed. We took our small dog in for a skin condition that he said was allergies... and we did bloodwork and all the test he suggested. No matter the costs we were willing to do anything for our family member to make her well. Then she started to loose her hair.... Again we took her in and again we were told it was allergies... he suggested we do a very expensive allergy test to see what she was allergic to. No expense was too much because our dog was a FAMILY MEMBER. We then were told to put her on these allergens shots. We followed instructions and this did not help. We put her on expensive prescription food. Nothing was happening and she got sicker. So after 2 years of BAD diagnosis we got a second opinion at a different vet... CUSHINGS ... and we were told "no true vet would ever have diagnosed and suggested the allergens shot because they are just a way of taking money and not helpful" then we were told that "any vet worth their salt would have seen that our dog had cushings by her blood work numbers". We started treatment for cushings with our new vet but because we wasted 2.5 years not treating her condition correctly because of Dr S at Boulevard Pet we lost our beloved pet to a horrific death. If only we had gotten a second opinion earlier. We are devastated and the last thing we can do for her memory is to warn other pet owners to stay away from this vet who obviously is only in it for the money. read more

I took my 10 year old dog suffering from a bad skin infection and pain to see Dr Shultz and Willy. Dr Shultz was highly attentive and extremely thorough in his exam. He and Willy were very kind to Rocco. He performed a skin scrape on the spot and proceeded to treat him immediately. After an ear wash and some great advice I walked out with the necessary medication and an understanding of what was happening and how to treat and prevent more complications. They also gave us a sample of food to change Rocco's diet to vegetarian to Avalon more allergies. BRILLIANT! Thank you to the staff and Dr for taking such great care of my baby boy. What an amazing clinic!!! I have a 12 yr old Bull Terrier that I used to take to a vet close to me. I wasn't upset with that vet, but I wasn't exactly happy, either. I was referred to Dr. Schwartz at BPC, and as soon as I walked through the door I knew I was in a great place. The staff, Evie and Will, are absolutely amazing. They really know how to make people and their pets feel welcomed and loved. You can easily tell that everyone there, including Dr. Schwartz absolutely love animals and the work they do at the clinic. I've been taking Lola there now for about 10 months and couldn't be happier. I cannot recommend them enough. I'm so lucky to find a vet who knows how to handle a dog in the sunset of their life. I tried a new vet for my new 2 fur babies and have had a totally different non stressful experience. Which was eye opening - & extremely thorough exams and info when leaving. I went back to Dr Schwartz for an emergency during a holiday and it was a horrible experience. $300 later .... he took no blood sample gave an underwhelming exam... jabbed my puppy with extra vaccines which made him even more sick. And gave me ZERO indication of why my puppy was sick...I had to take him to another vet. It ducked and I will never go back despite how desperate I am. read more

Blvd Pet Clinic is the best Vet Clinic that I have ever been to. The office was clean, professional, and most importantly warm and friendly. They took care of my dog with a routine teeth cleaning/ extraction. Dr. David Schwartz and Willie gave me the confidence that I can trust them with the care of my dog during this procedure. Not only was my dogs breath amazing after but the details they gave me on what the next steps were and how I can prevent this from happening again was amazing. Update...found a new vet and the growth on my puppy's leg DID NOT have to be surgically removed after all!!! Just antibiotics, anti-fungal and no licking. ALSO $600 less than what Dr. Schwartz quoted me. No surgery, no trauma to my puppy and $600 less. Think Twice. read more
