IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PAY THE BILL. Their billing system is a wreck, and they'll blame you for it. Online or phone, literally can't be done.

And let me tell you--MRIs and ultrasounds are not all created equal. The difference between a well-trained technician and a "winging it" one can be the difference between clarity and chaos in radiology. That said, the Boulder HealthImages team deserves a standing ovation (or at least a polite golf clap in the waiting room). They've mastered the art of making patients feel comfortable, welcomed, and even a little less like human science experiments. Their proactive communication, operational efficiency and imaging expertise set them apart from the rest. Check-in paperwork? Online. Easy. Done. (Pro tip: if you're allergic to online forms, don't take it out on the staff) Once you've completed the initial intake, future appointments are a breeze. Wait times? Practically nonexistent. I've walked in for x-rays twice and been whisked back almost immediately. MRI and ultrasound appointments? Not only punctual, but often started earlier than scheduled. You can request a disc with your images, if taking it to a doctor that does not have HealthImages portal access. Prefer digital? The patient portal has you covered. One caution: the technical imaging here is top notch, but I personally rely on my specialist to read and interpret the images. I don't depend on the radiologist's determination alone, and I recommend others do the same.

The ER physician misdiagnosed the symptoms as 'psychosis' and arranged for me to be placed on an M1 hold (involuntary psychiatric commitment) and transferred to Cedar Springs Hospital psychiatric institution in Colorado Springs later that day, although in his own notes he claimed I was not 'agitated,' 'depressed,' or 'in distress.' This assessment was not competent and was gravely in error. Perhaps I should have been sedated with Ativan and Versed if necessary to control the convulsions and connected to EEG in some form of effort to diagnose the seizures, which would not have been difficult or expensive, although this would not have allowed the hospital to bill my insurance for very much money. Two days later, on July 23, 2025, I was transferred to the UC Memorial Health Center ER in Colorado Springs by ambulance from Cedar Springs Hospital and placed under intensive care due to asphyxiation from choking on vomit during tonic clonic seizures. The staff at Cedar Springs claimed I had fallen and hit my head at their facility, which my care team at Memorial Hospital was able to find no evidence of. I was put on a ventilator and a tracheal tube was inserted to clean the vomit out of my lungs. By that point I already had pneumonia. Simply rolling me onto my side may have prevented the issue. Rather, the staff at Cedar Springs only offered stern lectures regarding my 'misbehavior,' which were not helpful. I was only offered food with choking hazards and given lit cigarettes at the facility. I was in and out of the seizures for about three days, completely cut off from any possible access to medical attention, before I lost consciousness. My next memory is of the feeding tube being removed at Memorial Hospital. To quote an MD from the Memorial Hospital case notes on July 23, "The specific organ or organ systems failed or in danger of failing were Cardiovascular, Neurological, and Respiratory." To quote his colleague on July 24, "Patient's condition is life-threatening and without ongoing intervention would deteriorate." A third Physician on July 26 noted, "BH [Behavior Health] evaluated him and he is NOT gravely disabled and does not meet any M1 hold criteria," and, "This pt [patient] has Epilepsy." This was the neurologist who observed the tonic clonic seizures on EEG. I was discharged from Memorial Hospital and sent home later that day. Fortunately I am now nine months seizure-free. Respiratory failure and tonic clonic seizure are known to cause permanent death of brain tissue and irreversible injury to the brain, and may cause sudden-onset death. Would not reccommend.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer last November, Nathan Roesner intervened during the most daunting period of my life; he helped me. To add to the hellish diagnosis, I was hit with the death of my younger sister, Maya, who passed away the very day before I visited the Aura office. Dr. Roesner was incredibly empathetic when he and I first met. He shared that he had lost a dear friend of his earlier that year. His words were precisely what I needed to hear that day. He then explained the complex phased breast reconstruction process using visual aids and sketches. The plan reassured me that I was in excellent hands. On December 20th, 2023, I had a double mastectomy, and then Roesner performed Phase 1 of my reconstruction. The following day, I awakened and immediately leaped out of bed to look in the hospital mirror. I unzipped the white sports bra the surgical staff had placed me in and took a good look at myself. The Tissue Expansion Devices (TEDs) were slightly filled. I am so grateful that I didn't have to go through the additional trauma of waking up flat-chested. My post-surgical pathology report revealed that more cancer was lurking, so Dr. Roesner had me scheduled to undergo the removal of more tissue, D[r. Roesner's surgical coordinator deserves a quick shout-out. She got me in the OR before any metastasis occurred. THANK YOU.] The more radical clearance of breast tissue led to an epically received report of NED (No Evidence of Disease)...not even any RESIDUAL disease remained in my system - (or at least none that can be detected by the state-of-the-art surveillance systems we have to date). Roesner removed some of the air from the TEDs to protect the fresh incisions from the stress of being stretched. I looked deflated, which was not very cute, but only briefly, for the air fills began shortly, eventually replaced with saline. During that second surgery, Roesner also removed a chemotherapy port from my chest that I wouldn't be needing. Having the port so seamlessly removed was a tremendous relief for me. Over the next few months, I would visit the AURA office for TED fills and facial treatments, including BBLs - Broad Band Light laser treatments. Master medical esthetician Kerri McMain performed my BBLS and other facial work. Kerri is probably one of the most careful, competent medical estheticians to have ever worked on my face, neck, and decolléte. As a licensed esthetician, I am highly selective with who wields a laser over my skin; I knew I was safe with Roesner's practice. I even brought my 11-year-old daughter in as we were struggling to clear up her acne. Not only did Kerri work on her face with great care, but she also gave us fresh ideas regarding care and prevention. With just a single microdermabrasion session at AURA, there was marked improvement in my daughter's skin. Kerri is also a delight to converse with; she seems genuinely concerned about the health and beauty of the patient's skin and overall wellness. I felt valued as a patient at AURA. The desk attendants always seem upbeat and accommodating. Dr Roesner's Nurse, Tanya, was the one who typically performed my TED fills (gradually expanding the breasts via painless needle puncture). Even with the injections, undergoing those fills proved to be some of the most incredible medical fun ever. Growing breasts was an absolute blast for me! Nurse Tanya was always a pleasure to see, as was every other individual who works at Aura, conveniently located near Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. My reconstruction has become more aesthetically pleasing than 97% of the reconstructions I have viewed. [Mind you, I am a brutal critic.] Since the 3rd surgery (swapping out the TEDs for silicone implants) on April 22nd, 2024, I have noticed that my breasts are outstanding in symmetry. They are also my preferred size -my original size- and have minimal scarring. Dr Roesner must have used some technique that looks anything like butchery. Best of all, the new breasts feel like they BELONG inside my body; they cause me zero pain; granted, I am half numb, but with consistent scar massage, the sensation is starting to return. What's a nice bonus is that I can wear almost all of my favorite pre-mastectomy bras. I had some pretty great native breasts before all of this, so the bar was set very high for Dr. Roesner. By the grace of God working through him, he managed to hit the high bar. He hit it aesthetically as well as perfectly excising an invasive cancer that would have left my daughter without a mother. Instead, I was SAVED, and I have literally been resurrected. So, I insist that you give AURA a go.

The best decision I made for myself was to have the surgery! Dr. Roesner is Amazing! His kindness,…read morehis compassion, his knowledge, his surgical skill are beyond measure! I am so grateful to Dr. Roesner and his entire medical and office team!

And I wanted my catscans to be performed closer to home, but EVERY time they would send the orders to their radiology department and I'd have to call them back. What made all of this the more galling is that the letter you receive from them when you start your care says something to the effect that, "we know communication is crucial during your cancer journey ..." So, I personally had a good journey in terms of outcome (just "graduated"!), I would rather my oncologist would have been part of a different practice.

You apparently have NO idea what the non-patient spouse is going through at home, and deserves at least a "hello". I've been on both sides of this disease, and for me, caregiving is incredibly more difficult than being a patient. Thank goodness for the nurse navigator, who knows how to listen. Overall, there needs to be some education and training in how to have a more wholistic approach to those who come to you for care because RMCC falls way short in understanding the significant role of the caregiver.

I can't move my eyebrows because they are also FROZEN!!!!! I called their office a few days after getting injected and told front desk gal, Hannah, telling her what happened and how I looked. No return call. I called again the next day. No return call. Finally Nicole, Dr. Roesner's wife, returned my call, barking at me before I could say anything about my face. Nicole was beyond rude to me. She was righteous and indigent, saying how nice she has been to me in the past and all the wonderful things she has done. I tried repeatedly to keep the conversation in present time. She wasn't having any of that. In short, Nicole flat out denied that MJ, her botox person, did ANYTHING wrong. If that is true, why do I look like a baboon? At my appointment with MJ, I very very specifically told MJ I did not want my eyebrows or eyes affected, just a little botox in my forehead. I told her I have had too much in the past and I clearly wanted less than more!!!! It hasn't even been a week she she went crazy on my face. The botox hasn't even finished settling in and I CAN'T MOVE MY FOREHEAD OR EYEBROWS!!! You'd think that because of the colossal mistake Nicole and her staff made, they would have been kind and/or compassionate. Nothing, because Nicole said they made no mistakes. And no credit for their (not) mistake. Just go home and live with it. I hope you will think twice before you put your face in their hands. They clearly don't care evident by the fact that they told me it was my problem and to go home. You judge. Maybe they think their customers want to be all botoxed up like them. Great customer service from them until you are unhappy and then it is go away and leave us alone. Shame on them. PS. Luke, I was also charged $75 just to talk to Dr. Roesner as well. I was also told at the time I made the appointment it would be a free consultation. Nope. I was charged $75 just to chat. He didn't do a thing.

I first met Dr. Roesner when I needed extensive breast reconstruction because of severe contracture that had developed 10 years after a double mastectomy. He and his wonderful support staff (Hannah 'in the back', MJ and Hannah 'in the front') impressed me immediately with their genuine friendliness, courtesy, caring and complete competence. I might add that Dr. Roesner has a delightful dry wit and visits were often enhanced by humorous banter. Recently I asked if Dr. Roesner could perform a lower face lift during the fat transfer operation (in order to have one recovery/work down-time period) and he confirmed that was possible. I was prepared for at least a week when I wouldn't be able to show my face in public, but was amazed that after 2 short days, there was so little bruising and swelling that I had no need for the heavy duty pain medications, and so was able to venture out! Now one week out, and I'm gradually resuming work and fun activities (though Dr. Roesner says 'no way' to sky-diving or horseback riding, ;). Dr. Roesner is remarkable in many ways. His surgical skill is unsurpassed and his 'bedside manner' exemplary. He truly cares about his patients...and it shows. How many doctors will give you their cell phone after surgery and insist that you call them any time of day or night with any issues or concerns? I've never met another. He's also quite humble and will turn a compliment right back to you. Compare that with the arrogant attitude of many surgeons! I would be delighted to talk with anyone considering either of these surgeries, as I believe they should be demystified. I give permission for Mile High Plastic Surgery, Dr. Roesner to share my cell phone with any women who are interested in these processes.
