I know this is bold to say in France... but this place is quite possible the best French bakery I've ever visited! We stayed at the hotel above for our honeymoon and originally just came for a cappuccino and croissant. It was honestly so good that every day we ended up coming back here... and our orders got bigger because we wanted to try more on the menu. The croissants were perfectly light and flakey. Seriously the stuff of dreams. They complimented the cappuccinos so well which they served in very convenient "to go" cups. The location is also a great people watching spot. You are right in the middle of Old Nice and I loved starting our days here and taking that all in. I definitely recommend this place and looking forward to coming back! read more

Located in Old Nice; very accessible. Plenty of seating outside, making it perfect for people watching. There was a large selection of baked goods and sandwiches. I ordered a prosciutto sandwich, and it was average at best and a bit over priced for the quality. Fine for a quick bite to eat. Behind the counter service was quick. read more

YUM! I am a tourist from America, but I really loved this bakery! It caught my eye simply because I saw there was a large crowd! I got the mini key lime pie, which was actually delicious! Picked up some croissants and a raspberry tarte. The tarte was pretty good and the croissants looked and smelled buttery (saving it for breakfast tomorrow!). The older woman working there was a bit rude, which is why I took a star down. Started shaking her head at guests and mumbled something in French under her breath! Definitely not what I was hoping for. The environment was nice in that it was on a central Nice street, but the food was really disappointing. Not much to say other than it simply did not taste good - the sandwiches were more mayonnaise than sandwich, and the bread was quite stale. Would advise going elsewhere. read more

Fantastic bread - honestly some of the best of ever tasted. For €1 you can get a soft, crispy, tasty baguette and it's so wonderful.

Love this little Boulangerie. The food is amazing and the cutest little spot for a quick bite. I will always remember this place. Loved the decor. Walking past this bakery I was immediately drawn. I tried the croissant in the morning and it was pretty good- buttery, fluffy and crispy on the outside. I knew I had to go back so I returned. The second time my husband and I tried the sugar beignet and the tart noix. The beignet just melted in your mouth. The tart noix on the other hand was a bit heavy and is good for sharing! read more

So this review only applies to Boulangerie Jeannnot's baguettes. I am an American who for whatever reason 10 years ago fell in love with baguettes and whenever I come to a European city I try the best rated boulangeries. So again this review applies solely to that product. I would say ambiance and location in Nice are spectacular, 5 stars. And I plan to try their Opera cakes the only other french boulangerie product I'd call myself a connoisseur. As far as their baguette product goes though I would only give 3 stars. So far in my life of trying to decide what's worth the calories and what's not, I have found it helpful to look at a few visual clues, which Jeannot's baguette mostly failed. The outside of the baguette seemed promising with the right color and nonuniformities but when I riped it apart there were three immediate tip off signs that this baguette was nothing special. First I could see the bread was clearly too dense; too many small holes. Second the bread was missing the soft slightly rubbery texture that makes it slightly reflect in the light. Finally the best baguettes I've seen also have a very slight off white color, the bright white color of this baguette did not inspire confidence. But at the end of the day taste is everything. But there was no redemption to be found there, first the baguette mouthfeel was too dense like what you'd expect of a bread loaf not a baguette. The taste was also underwhelming there was no dimension to the flavor that I could find, no nutty earthy undertones. It's not a bad baguette, and I'd call it a pretty good baguette in the US, but when in France that's not really high praise. read more

I was incredibly disappointed. After many places were closed for labor day, we wandered in wanting some lunch and bought a couple baguette sandwiches (jambon & poulet clubs). Usually in France, these are great from any bakery. The baguette was harder than it should be and it was doused in way too much mayo which ruined much of it. Maybe we would've had better luck with the pastries? It did have a great location and outdoor seating which was a plus. read more

I was staying in an expensive hotel very close to Jeannot with a €22 breakfast (I won't name any names) Jeannot was a two minute walk away and I ate here most mornings, they have a great range of delicious and reasonably priced pastries and nice coffee too. I didn't get to try their bread unfortunately! read more

Jeannot is an incredibly inexpensive and quaint cafe that does not skimp on quality or service. We went here each morning during our stay in Nice and were not disappointed once! The staff is quite friendly, especially when the place is packed with customers (something hard to find if you ask me!). They also have daily deals for breakfast which are delicious and filling without breaking the bank! Spent only 6€ each morning for coffee, two pastries, water, and sometimes another treat for later. read more
