This bakery is located near Old Town and its reputation has made it a go to place for locals and tourists
At lunch time they are known for their pan bagnat the typical sandwich in Nice that basically is a mini Niçoise salad in a round bread drizzled with olive oil or vinaigrette: it is a full meal in a bread as it has tuna ,green pepper, radish, celery, a filet of anchovy and half a boiled egg.
They sell it as a mini sandwich for $3 or a large one for $5.5
You can have canned beverages or espresso coffee or bottled water
The mini sandwich was good , the bread a little hard and the vinaigrette could have tolerated some more vinegar but overall flavorful and most importantly authentic.
I didn't try the cookies or the pastries but they looked delicious specially the pies ( called tartes ) here
What brought the rating down : the place deserves a better clean up between guests , and there are some flies ( I hate this anywhere) ; the restrooms didn't have soap; when asked , the young lady fumbled with some liquid soap containers and admitted that they had the wrong ones so no soap for the day !!
I would suggest to get in , buy your pan bagnat walk to the Promenade des Anglais and enjoy it sitting on one of the chairs facing the sea. read more
