Service was great, with a smile. Two big tables before us, so we had to be patient. Side Salads were fresh, bacon potato salad, & onion ring sides were great! 1/4 order of fried chicken was a leg and a thigh, or breast and a wing, very small, so not sure if the tables before us ate most of the chicken. Wish we came on a Wednesday when the fried chicken dish is almost 1/3 the price. A table of four, with 3orders of 1/4 fried chicken plates, 1 order of 1/2 chicken plate and no alcohol was $70...so not cheap eats, but good food. We will try again. read more

Nice clean bar. Friendly bartender. Bathroom was small and the woman in the stall kept talking to me thinking that I was her friend. Awkward. It must be a good place to eat. While we were at the bar having drinks, about 30 people walked in and took up 6 tables to order dinner. I guess I will need to go back to try the food. read more

The Wednesday fried chicken deal is without a doubt the best value meal you can get in southern Illinois. Honestly, it might be the best meal in southern Illinois, period, and it ranks right up there with southern fried chicken restaurants. Great breading, strong sides. This was the 2nd time coming here the 1st time was awesome! This second time was awful and I will never be coming back! We sat for two hours waiting on chicken and 1 of the 4 of us got of chicken and sides and then the 3 of us waited another 45 minutes. When our food did come, the cook came out and accused the girl of taking someone's food... And told us to never come back. Excuse me your food runner read it off that that was her order and she took it thinking ours was right behind. And we informed our waitress and she said she would get our food. For him to come out and accuse us of stealing food was very rude and disrespectful. When we paid we asked for a apology and he came out accusing us again... This place....it's hate slight love relationship. Mostly hate now. I'm not sure if the older woman with blonde hair and constant melancholy angry facial expression is the owner or manager but out of the many times I've been here I'd say she's maybe been nice and smiled 3 times...she's great to her regulars that sit at the bar it seems but no one else. The chicken is great for $6 but it's not the best chicken I've ever tasted. I'm not really sure why people seem to throw that phrase out constantly. Recently i came in and and they WERE NOT BUSY. I ordered our first two meals and beers with fries and an appetizer. We sat and ate, which came out barely lukewarm and soggy with blue cheese when we ordered ranch. Probably due to the fact they have a 12 year old girl running food and only running one tray at a time with maybe 4 or 5 plates on it. I stayed quit, no big deal. Then after we ate (note: there was NO LINE!) I walked right up and ordered 2 more chickens and fries to go, which was my mistake I should have ordered it sooner so that's fine, I'll take the 20 mins of waiting i deserve. They were a little bit busy at this point but not much, maybe 10 more people had ordered food before us. At this point I have spent $70 for everything I've ordered with food and a couple of beers. SEVENTY DOLLARS! Well 20 mins went by and I went to check on it. The blonde with the "amazing attitude " told me that it would be brought to me at my table outside. (They are getting busy at this point) Ok, figured maybe another min. I wait 15 more mins. I go in and tell her, "It's been 45 mins and we've watched at least 4 other groups of people get their food before us who ordered AFTER US." And NOT directly after us, as in ordered 10 mins and more after us! (Which it was actually more than 4 groups!) She proceeded to tell me in her rude grim tone..."You're gonna have to wait until I'm done with this line and I'll go check." (The line had atleast 30 people in it!) ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I order $70 worth of chicken, wait an HOUR for a to go order for you to tell me I have to wait longer! I stood there until she asked the 12 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRL running food in a BAR if I had a to go order. The little girl huffs and says "yeah!" So I assume she's gone to get it. So I go outside and guess what....10 more mins went by. Nope. She never brought it out. At this point I had to send my friend in to get it. The moan and groan eye rolling blonde woman finally stops the line and takes the 2 mins it would have taken 30 mins ago to go and get my food. The Chicken was cold and soggy and fries were soaking wet and cold. I worked in hospitality and restaurants for over 10 years and this was by far the worst serves I have ever had. I think maybe the blonde should take the $70 and try an etiquette class. I will never go back! I'm being nice and giving it two star because I have had a good time there with fiends before. read more

Bottom's Up has a local legend built up about how good the fried chicken is, but it's not an exaggeration. A half chicken with two huge side portions is extremely cheap on a regular day, and half price on Wednesdays. The fried fish is very good as well. The service was friendly. If you are visiting on a day other than Wednesday and aren't from one of the tiny river towns in the area expect to be questioned by the regulars in the bar. read more

This place is great if you're looking to get some cheap beer and good eats. The place has a pretty great dive bar atmosphere. With a great outdoor area that includes this sort of mess hall where you can take your food and play bags or use the juke box. If you go on Wednesday you can get pints of pbr for $1 and other domestic pints for $1.50. Also included in the Wednesday special is an entire fried chicken for $6. read more
