Today, 8/1 around 10:30am, I needed to get just get a couple items. There was guy at the front…read moreregister and several carts in line going out into the store (which seems to be typical with Dollar Generals). Finally a lady came to another register and started checking people out. At one of the registers there was confusion with a $5 off coupon which took some additional time and at the other one someone kept delaying things because his card was not working. Knowing that bottlenecks and understaffing can occur, I waited patiently in line. Eventually the younger woman customer (who was in front of me) starts putting her items out to be scanned at the register the lady cashier and I were at. Furthermore at this time there was an older woman checking out at the front register that the guy cashier was at. She was literally standing there putting her items in the cart RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE REGISTER, NOT AT THE BAGGING AREA. I was far enough way from her that I COULD NOT SEE THAT SHE HAD ALREADY PAID. She was not at the bagging area, just IN FRONT WHERE ONE PAYS. So I continue to wait patiently till the female cashier blurts out--"DUDE go to the front register......can't you see there's a line of people. Pay attention. I'm trying to help you out." Now as I had a splitting headache and I try to avoid drama at all costs, I just quietly went up to the front register where the guy was, paid, and left as I just wanted to get the hell out of there. Also, I should note that I had to reach over to put my items out to be scanned because the older lady was still blocking me. Unlike others who were visibly annoyed having to wait in line, I tried to be calm, respectful and collected. And I'm the one that gets berated like that !!!!! I used to work in the service sector so I know these jobs can be stressful. But rudely blurting out to a customer like that is uncalled for and unnecessary. I don't know if I will be returning to that Dollar General.

Originally they did not have much in the way of "stock" (pun intended) but as they have proceeded through their now ongoing "CLOSING SALE" they seem to have more items to sell. Go figure. Even with their "50% off tagged price & then take an additional 10%" some of the items are still not a bargain. However, if you are going shopping at S&F you have better get over their because today I sale a sign that said "fixtures for sale" and on the receipt was "ALL SALES FINAL".

To me it felt a lot like a Rural King, but it also seemed more geared towards sports and outdoors than Rural King (they also didn't give free popcorn out here...). They had huge fishing, hunting, and camping sections; a nice selection of handguns and rifles; tools; lawn/yard care products; and a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff. The prices seemed pretty reasonable, and the sale prices seemed good (the ammo was cheap at least!). The staff was also very friendly and helpful. All in all, if I lived closer, I'd probably frequent this place, but it's not quite special enough to warrant an hour drive.
