Solid Gold is a terrible place to go if you need any type of watch repaired. Both times my wife or I have dropped a watch off to get fixed, it sits in the office for two plus weeks, and the only watch repair guy will call you saying he's unable to do anything. Two attempts - 1st attempt: replacing a crystal, then 2nd attempt: changing a movement from a new watch to the older watch of the same type. I always try to buy local if I can, but it will never be this place again. read more

Recently asked to have an array of jewelry appraised and sorted by value to help my senior mother decide which items to sell, keep, store, etc...this jeweler took my mothers prized gold charm bracelet full of her collection of charms which she had for over 50 years and completely disassembled it for scrap! It has great value to her, she is not dead! And to me in its bracelet form! It was like being violated. Just shocking that someone would be so disrespectful of someone's property like this. read more

Both my husband and I got our wedding rings from here and they are perfect. They are still in the same condition as we bought them even after our jobs which can both be very demanding on our hands. I went in here with my boyfriend after finding a ring I loved online to see if they had something similar, or would be willing to set the stone we already had into the ring if I purchased it online. We definitely wanted to deal locally rather than purchase online. The man we spoke with said that he would set our stone into a ring purchased online, but that he would not guarantee his work AND he would more than double his usual fee to do that. He also criticized the stone that we had purchased and tried to get us to purchase one from him. My stone is princess cut and he tried to tell me that it was a passing fad and that I should really get a round. He basically tried to talk us out of everything that we knew we wanted, and once we finally got him to show us the ring that we had picked out online, he still said he was going to mark up the labor on setting our stone because we didn't purchase it from him. Needless to say, we did not buy anything that day and I will not be returning to Solid Gold Jewelers. read more

Horrible, horrible experience!! I went in to get a metal buffer (it makes the ring fit better, without getting it sized) for my engagement ring, I asked a few questions about it, like if it would scratch my ring, the jeweler told me, "Over time, if it gets loose it will, otherwise, no." Those were her exact words!! She put the buffer on my ring and when I got it back, it was scratched everywhere!! Mostly from the tool she used, but the buffer had pressed into the ring leaving marks. When I said something about it, she told me that since the ring was platinum it would scratch like that. But that totally went against what she told me earlier. I understand that the buffer may have scratched the ring but her tool marks on my ring were the worst. The whole time I was in the store she was short and rude when I talked to her, not welcoming at all. The sales lady was nice, until I had said something about the scratches. I ended up calling the owner and getting my ring polished for free. I will never go back there because of that one woman. read more
