My favorite liquor store ever! They have everything I could ever want and so much more. I always end up spending way more money than I anticipated, and not because they're overpriced, because they have so many things you can't find anywhere else. They also have a lot of local stuff, which is pretty cool! They've got tons of wine/beer of all different prices, and every liquor you can think of. Their prices are also very fair. A must-stop when I'm down in CA on vacation. The liquor prices are awesome, and far better than in OR on many items. I'm not a big liquor drinker, but I always manage to talk myself in to a bottle or two. The beer selection is the big deal for me. We stopped in to check out a band they had playing there and maybe pick up a few things. There seemed to be a lot of people working there but what was kinda weird was It was all men on the floor.- the women were only at the cash registers (boo on the diversity level.) I thought they'd have some snacks and beverages available to go with the music but there was nothin. Even the band made a comment "Anyone gotta beer or somethin?" It took a long time to get someone to help us and we had to go to the front registers to ask the woman to summon the man-helpers. This is basically a local's BevMo, but better. Tucked away in a quiet industrial area near the freeway on the north end of Santa Rosa, this large warehouse space can feel overwhelming at first. I was on a mission to procure bubbly for Mother's Day, and this place did not disappoint. My favorite part was finding options I didn't know would be available (like Iron Horse, which I've never seen outside the winery or a restaurant). My husband left me in the sparkling section to go look for beers and came back with several of our favorite German varietals not often available at BevMo except during Oktoberfest-themed promotions. I'd reckon you could find _a lot_ more hard-to-find wines and beers here. My only gripe: It's entirely possible I was just in a hurry and missed this, but it seemed like the labeling of each section/origin in the main aisle of bottles could be more clear. I could tell it was carefully organized, but I wasn't sure exactly how and got lost looking for affordable options (until I found a separate display for this purpose). There appeared to be only one person working that day so there wasn't an opportunity to ask for help. People PLEASE be aware of this business. I went in and made a purchase of over $2,000 and 2 months later I had the cops knocking at my door and I was arrested under false accusations. That I had stolen property from bottle barn. I have the receipt and credit card charge. Its ridiculous the things a company does to their customers. I really hope nobody goes through what I did. Tiki people this is your rum stop. They carry my favorites Plantation pineapple, Plantation three star, Hamilton blends, El Dorado Demeraras and rhum available. Very extensive selection at reasonable prices. Not a lot of specialty syrups though. Basic stuff is available like my favorite small size can of Lopez coconut and bitters for the home bar. I dropped in for an inexpensive wine, and finding none, the cashier directed me to 'the person on the floor' who ridiculed me in front of two other customers. He said the (boxed wine) I requested was only used for cleaning test machines, and cracked joke after joke to the hilarity of the other customers, that I was only 'buying it for the buzz' and probably had no taste at all. Very nice independent liquor store. It is in a warehouse space next to a UPS distribution center. Kind of strange but in keeping with the name. I am a tequila and beer guy. Very good selection of tequila here. I was able to find several of my favorites including Tapatio and Tequila Ocho. Good prices on the tequila too. Good selection of craft beers. I spent quite a while going through the aisles looking at the beer. Looks like most of the crafts are from West Coast breweries, but I did see Dogfish Head and Abita brews too. My only complaint is that the space is kind of dark and it can be hard to find stuff. This will be a regular stop for me. read more

Ok, 5 stars for Bottle Barn! Do they deserve it? You may argue the parking space is limited or the store is untidy; but really - is there a better place to buy booze? No, there is not! It's about service, price and selection. The wine is set out in sections with the little tags begging you to buy the wine because it's 95 Points or whatever. I see they sell Russian Standard Gold Vodka. I've never seen the Gold for sale anywhere else. (You should buy the Platinum - not the Silver.) The service is good. There is always someone roaming around the store stocking the shelves who will direct you to your favorite beverage. I could not find the giant bottles of Bulleit Bourbon and was directed to it by one of the staff. How proud I was to see it stacked predominantly at the front of the aisle in a big mountain of bottles! They also have a huge beer selection so bring your truck. They buy up stock from local wineries - so one can find some good wine at affordable prices. So, if you want some good wine, bargains can be found at Bottle Barn. You have to work for it though. Don't buy a whole case, get a bottle, try it and then come back for the case. I learned the hard way. Mark West Pinot is undrinkable, and a case of zin I bought had a lot of sediment in the bottom. Good zin, but I could never remember to leave the last part for the bottle and ended up with a mouth full of zin grit. read more

If you look booze; forget BevMov and come here instead! Every time I step inside I feel like I'm in a world market as they have so many different types of liquor I haven't even heard of. Not only do they have good liquor, it's always pretty affordable when comparing to other places. They also sell flasks, and other alcoholic related accessories for all of your drinking needs. We have a serious customer service issue here. First off, let me disclose that I'm a big fan of the ownership here. Sanjive is a great owner and hope him and his wife succeed with this venture. And I do love the breadth of local wines that come into the store. However, it stops there. I can't get questions answered from any floor employees. It's like pulling teeth. I stop by at least once every two weeks to see what has come in. I spend about $70K on wine for my personal cellar a year, yet less than 5% goes to Bottle Barn. Why, when I ask a question about certain products, either no one knows the answer because they're not properly trained, or they refer me to the wine buyer who doesn't respond to my emails. That's a problem. Because then my wine dollars go to competitors like K&L Wine in the City, Benchmark in Napa, Vinfolio, Crush, FlatIron, etc etc that are happy to answer my questions and take my money. It's not just me, there's tons of people like me who feel the same, who even have more discretionary money than I do. If you add it all up, all that money which could be spent at Bottle Barn LOCALLY now goes to retailers in other places like Napa, SF and the like. If you provide good customer service, good customers will spend money. If you try and create relationships with good buyers, they will spend money. It blows my mind that whenever I come into the store and inquire about certain products, it's as if they don't want my money. That's a big problem for ownership when they don't know that tons of money is being spent elsewhere, when it could actually be spent locally. read more

Absolutely the best prices and selection of wine in Sonoma County. Although that is my main interest there is also an excellent selection of spirits and beer, again with great prices. Bottle Barn is aptly named, it is a large warehouse with isles marked with the various wine varietals. Not surprising that the selection of California wines is enormous but if French, Italian or other foreign wines are your thing, look closely and you will likely find some real gems with good prices. If you need help with finding a particular wine or just some general information, the team here is quite knowledgeable and eager to help. When you find the wine your looking for don't be surprised to find it at a lower cost than the winery. I could not find one wine I was looking for and asked one of the employees on the floor (wearing a red flannel shirt) where I could find a certain wine. His response was rude and abrupt- he told me rudely that it might be in the chardonnay bin and walked away- couldn't he have helped out rather that just being plain rude or if busy get someone else to help? We make more visits here than to actual wineries when we're in the area. We stopped a few weeks ago to stock up on some more whiskeys, found a couple hard-to-find Scotches for a friend, local wines from places we were intending to stop by anyway, and an Italian wine that had to have been mispriced because it was insanely cheap. They had the Harvest Festival winning wines in their own section, which I appreciated. The rest of the wines are categorized by type and country. Bottles are cheaper or more reasonably priced than we're accustomed to, and they have a great selection of everything. It's tucked away in an Industrial Park but it's a worthy find. Great people, great selection, great prices, and you don't have to deal with those annoying bottle jails. read more

Your one stop shop for Harvest Fair Medal Winners, and great variety of wine producers, even small. How I have lived up here for over 4 months and not made Bottle Barn, not sure, but it will be a regular stop going forward, bye bye BevMo. I was a huge shopper at K&L when I lived in Palo Alto, both online and store, and have been missing a place I can stop in 1-2x a month for quality selection of smaller wineries and a great price point. I had envisioned it as a place for big names or low quality, but heavyweights like high quality, higher price point Pinots like Lynmar are on the shelves, down to small wineries that have no store front like J Lynne Pinot. And prices were really good. (J Lynne Pinot, normally $21, $13.) I had to stop browsing aisles after 12 bottles were in the cart, given I am already sitting on ~140 bottles at home. Right now in the center of the store is a great selection of the Harvest Fair medal winners, Gold and Double Gold especially, at good prices, some at 25%+ discount, and from small wineries that you don't normally see retail. Their microbrew selection rocks as well, with great selections, including Belgians. With micros creeping to $10/six pack on average it was nice to notice them lower than other places. My only beef was that prices are only on the package, not the shelf, so you have to handle things a lot, a pain especially in the beer section. I think I am REALLY glad they don't have the amazing online presence and hold wines for you, like K&L does, otherwise I'd be in BIG trouble. I am all about buying direct from the winery, but its nice to have this option to browse on occasion. read more

I absolutely adore this place! It's like mecca for people who like alcohol but want something besides your everyday, run-of-the-mill Coors Light or Jack Daniels...but you can get those here too! I love that I can find things here I can't find anywhere else I've looked in Sonoma County. I'm not a huge fan of BevMo and the grocery store is too expensive. PLUS, Bottle Barn carries Abita!!!! WoooooHooooo!!! Even Abita root beer which, while not alcohol, is hands down the best root beer I've ever had. In my life. I have been known to spend a great deal of time just wandering the aisles here. While not a huge alcohol drinker, I have my favorites and I do like trying new things. From craft beers to an aisle of vodka to two aisles of whiskey and bourbon (two!), you're pretty sure to find just about anything you want here. Anything less than five stars for this gem of a business is a sin. Few places can make the overall price point of Bottle Barn and none can when you factor in the sheer amount of product. Costco has got some wines, sure, but Bottle Barn has perhaps ten times the amount. BevMo has got booze, sure, but Bottle Barn has a better selection with more unique items. I don't know if any place has the beer selection to match. Simply put, this is THE place to buy all your booze in Sonoma County. The location is funky(in the middle of an industrial park.) Once again love my GPS. The small doors to get into this place is the opposite of the selection of stuff inside this warehouse. They have a larger selection of tequila (may hard drink of choice) and super selection of beers. Not a wine drinker so can not make any comments. As to price...The name would lead you to think your going to discover the Ross of clothes. NOPE. Price still higher then costco, but the selection is greater, My negative stuff is NO custermer help. I really love Paddy's Irish Whiskey but that isn't sold outside of Ireland. That's the only thing they've never been able to procure for me. I wish there was one of these everywhere.
