    Pizza and sangria
    Michele Z.

I got a .5 liter of sangria (don't judge, it's been a very long day!) and a pizza. The sangria was enough to share if you didn't want more than 2 large glasses. The pizza was personal size. Or shareable if you ordered something else. It hit the spot. The sangria was yummy and the pizza was very nice. I docked it 1 star because the service was so-so.

The spot is great but the francesinha don't have fries it's a shame because it's typical of Porto. The price is too expensive.

We ordered a few tapas to share: croquets de alheira and croquets de codfish. Both were so good! We loved it. The star of the show though was the pork neck tacos! They were so delicious! So much flavor and perfect. I got the lemonade and it was just okay. Nothing special. Overall, would 100% recommend this place! Make a reservation if you can but if you can't, would still try to stop by!

Definitely recommend making a reservation, I found it impressive that the hostess's reservation system was essentially a notebook and pen in this digital age. We did not see much of our waiter, since the restaurant was extremely busy and filled up with diners. Standouts: 1. Razor clams - I'll always get these if I see it on the menu. Cooked in this incredible garlic sauce. 2. Fish and seafood cataplana - delicious, tomato-forward seafood stew; I liked the version that we had the night before more which came with rice and was more filling. But this was basically a never-ending bowl of fish, clams, mussels, and shrimp. Add to that the fact that the restaurant like most in Porto did not have A/C and I emerged feeling like I had been sitting in a sauna. Skipped dessert; I had my eye on the Weeel! froyo truck parked outside. One more nit - the metal chairs are not comfortable at all for sitting a long time in.

The table side chorizo that they light with a flame for you along with a fantastic pitcher of sangria is worthwhile. We did not eat a lot there and weather was awful but it was a fun place to sit and people watch for a drink and snack. We even had a "flash band" set in front of us during the rain! They deserved their tip! Situated right on the main town side of the Douro river it's quite close to all the sites.

There were two other groups before us that were sat pretty quickly within 15 minutes or so. During the time we were waiting the hostess was extremely friendly and kept giving us updates on when the table was going to be ready and was making light conversation with us as we waited. When we finally got seated you could tell that the servers were definitely busy trying to get everyone's food and drinks out and so the same hostess came to us and said don't worry I'll take your order for you and told us the things that were the most popular which from my pictures we basically got everything she said LOL. And we were not disappointed with the food that we chose. Now we know why they are considered the house specialties. The flavors of the potato fish cheesy goodness dish I cannot remember the name of it was just so warm and comforting. I was worried about a fishiness coming through when you took different bites but no all the flavor is harmonized well with each other. The tuna salad that they made was extremely fresh and again was pleasantly surprised that though it was fish the spices and bread/butter combo that came with it really didn't give any fishiness. It was also well balanced. Now I will say though those other dishes were amazing our favorite hands down was definitely the grilled octopus. It was so tender and almost melt in your mouth. We were blown away by how well it was cooked. For sure I would say if you are in the area and have a good amount of time please check this spot out and give yourself at least 3 hours to enjoy the meal because again we sat there laughing eating and talking with the people around us because it was that fantastic of a Time for roughly 3 hours.

The room is simple and comfortable, with an open kitchen where you can see the well-fed chef, who likewise can see how the customers are enjoying their meal. A stylish painted-on sign on the wall announces it only opened in 2015. The servers are very welcoming, not pushy at all but very attentive and very interested to see that the patrons are happy with the food. They also speak excellent English. We began with a simple vegetable soup and a generous bread service. After that came the shrimp starter--two perfectly grilled shrimp so huge that I think they could probably take down a lobster in a fair fight, and excellently flavored. Then clams--the most wonderful, simply prepared clams I've ever tasted, in a thin but savory tomato broth. I had to be careful I didn't vacuum them all up before my dinner companion got her share, and when the clam meat was finished we continued using the mini-toasts and then the clamshells themselves to slurp up as much of the broth as we could. And then came the main event, a long, thick cut of lightly cooked, amazingly fresh bacalhau that fell apart with gentle prodding from our forks and melted in our mouths. Of course we measured our pace with several super-affordable, crisp and refreshing finos (thank you Portugal!), and since while we were there Portugal vanquished Croatia on a late goal in the Euro tournament, 1-0, the house treated us to a free shot of port (thank you Portugal again!). As we finished our meal and the streets erupted in celebration, we made our way to the door and discovered the chef and several of the staff outside chatting. I could only say "muito obrigado" and shake his hand, and promise myself to come back whenever I'm next in Porto. 我的朋友是从四川来的。她也觉得这个饭馆非常好吃!

Service was wonderful, and the food was both affordable and delicious. Excellent recommendations…read morefrom the waitstaff.
