Portobello mushrooms
Ami P.

Solid tapas place with live music. What else can you ask for. We had 8 people so basically got to try a little of everything. The shrimp croquettes, duck pastries, and stuffed portobello were probably my favorites if I had to pick. The vibe was very cute. The Waiter was very friendly and had good wine recommendations. First place that was able to make a dirty martini for me in Portugal also. Definitely recommend (also a lot better than the tapas places we tried in Lisbon in overall quality of food and vibe).

Pork taco, patatas bravas, and bread

We were looking for tapas on our last night in Porto and this came up in a search. They sat us when we walked in. Our server was great and provided good recommendations. We had 5 tapas and it was more than enough for my husband and me. Everything was great, but the pulled pork tacos, patatas bravas, and slow cooked pork cheek (not pictured) were amazing! They also have live music.

The food here is great, the portions are pretty big & service is excellent, especially for Portugal; I asked for tap water & got it with lemon & ice (this was better than all the other places I ate at in Portugal). There was also live music, which was pretty good. No wonder they were fully booked (I went in quite late) PORTOSTRAWBERRY was strawberry, port tawny, orange juice & whiskey. It was pretty good, with a nice flavour profile. It was strong, though served with too much ice. Duck puff pastry was good. It had lots of duck & was delicious. The caramelised onion was tasty & added texture. It was served with nice mayonnaise & red fruity sauce. Pork cheeks were very tender & tasty. Abade de Priscos was good: rich with a nice thick texture (like thick jelly). The wine ice cream was good, with a light flavour & a good light texture. The only flaw was it was a bit too warm (it was melting when I got it)

I found this place on Google Maps when we were looking for a dinner spot. It was packed and we made…read moreit just on time because there were 2 seats open at the bar! We ordered a few tapas to share: croquets de alheira and croquets de codfish. Both were so good! We loved it. The star of the show though was the pork neck tacos! They were so delicious! So much flavor and perfect. I got the lemonade and it was just okay. Nothing special. Overall, would 100% recommend this place! Make a reservation if you can but if you can't, would still try to stop by!

Definitely recommend making a reservation, I found it impressive that the hostess's reservation system was essentially a notebook and pen in this digital age. We did not see much of our waiter, since the restaurant was extremely busy and filled up with diners. Standouts: 1. Razor clams - I'll always get these if I see it on the menu. Cooked in this incredible garlic sauce. 2. Fish and seafood cataplana - delicious, tomato-forward seafood stew; I liked the version that we had the night before more which came with rice and was more filling. But this was basically a never-ending bowl of fish, clams, mussels, and shrimp. Add to that the fact that the restaurant like most in Porto did not have A/C and I emerged feeling like I had been sitting in a sauna. Skipped dessert; I had my eye on the Weeel! froyo truck parked outside. One more nit - the metal chairs are not comfortable at all for sitting a long time in.

I am combining my description of the service and Ambiance as super spectacular and so inviting…read more When we got there around 10:00 p.m. at night on October 15th the restaurant was jumping. There were two other groups before us that were sat pretty quickly within 15 minutes or so. During the time we were waiting the hostess was extremely friendly and kept giving us updates on when the table was going to be ready and was making light conversation with us as we waited. When we finally got seated you could tell that the servers were definitely busy trying to get everyone's food and drinks out and so the same hostess came to us and said don't worry I'll take your order for you and told us the things that were the most popular which from my pictures we basically got everything she said LOL. And we were not disappointed with the food that we chose. Now we know why they are considered the house specialties. The flavors of the potato fish cheesy goodness dish I cannot remember the name of it was just so warm and comforting. I was worried about a fishiness coming through when you took different bites but no all the flavor is harmonized well with each other. The tuna salad that they made was extremely fresh and again was pleasantly surprised that though it was fish the spices and bread/butter combo that came with it really didn't give any fishiness. It was also well balanced. Now I will say though those other dishes were amazing our favorite hands down was definitely the grilled octopus. It was so tender and almost melt in your mouth. We were blown away by how well it was cooked. For sure I would say if you are in the area and have a good amount of time please check this spot out and give yourself at least 3 hours to enjoy the meal because again we sat there laughing eating and talking with the people around us because it was that fantastic of a Time for roughly 3 hours.

The table side chorizo that they light with a flame for you along with a fantastic pitcher of sangria is worthwhile. We did not eat a lot there and weather was awful but it was a fun place to sit and people watch for a drink and snack. We even had a "flash band" set in front of us during the rain! They deserved their tip! Situated right on the main town side of the Douro river it's quite close to all the sites.
