I ended up spending $300 reals for one item, two small sausages and a few of the little Coxinha. Compare this to something local, I was able to get a bigger portion that was able to feed 4 people with the same price. The service was although decent though, they were able to get to my table quickly. I did show up on a time where it wasn't lively as it was shown on social media so service was fine. Vegetarians will appreciate a couple of fries veggie options and a generously sized salad selection. The food choices are huge, but the taste is mostly just good. Nothing really stands out but everything was enjoyable. Taste could be improved everywhere. The cocktails are great and should be ordered. Service is amazing. You'll get whatever you need within a minute of needing it. They're extremely prompt and food arrives almost too fast. The lower level is an open patio cooled by misting fans. It's a great vibe with an enormous central bar. You can go to the second level rooftop area but might have to pay a cover depending on time of day. That area is great for watching the beach and adding an extra layer of fun to your time here. That's what Belmonte is - fun. read more

What a horrible service this place has provided. I came here because they had Michelada and I was sat next to a table with 2 Americans guys who rented 2 Brazilian escort girls. The escort girls wanted their steak cut in strips so the waiter decided to place dirty dishes on my table that he was carrying to cut it for them. He placed them next to my side bag and the oil from those dishes stained my bag. The waiter knew placing those dishes on my table was a bad decision so they avoided me. I was fuming with rage and almost caused a scene at the restaurant. No good services was provided to me at that point and I should have walked out that restaurant without paying for my meal. We got by and the staff were quite nice. I got the trout with moqueca rice (R39) which was delicious! fried fish that is tender and crispy and the rice (quite a lot!) had lots of flavour! The only thing is that there was coriander in the rice that i'm not a fan of, but otherwise, delicious! Realized after the fact that Moqueca is a Brazilian dish! But that happens as the bar gets crowded on busy times, and the staff works hard to compensate waiting time with cheerfulness. The Belmonte is not meant to be a fancy place. It's a lively bar, usually full and noisy, with great food and fun laid back atmosphere. The star of the show is the empada (a kind of mini savory pie), served in different flavours. My favorites are the open empadas of crab and shrimp with catupiry cheese.
