Conveniently located next to the Red Line. There is currently quite a bit of construction going on in the area, so getting there by car or Uber may be a bit of a hassle. Additionally, the most immediate red line entrance is currently closed, though the other entrances are relatively near. The hotel itself is as you would expect. The elevators are secured (you need a room key) and I thought the bed was comfortable. My only slight criticism is that though there is a Dunkin, Bakey, and CVS super close, for much past that, you'll need to walk a bit or take a train. read more

Solid Marriott right next to MIT with a nice M Lounge. As platinum or above, there's breakfast and dinner in the lounge. Breakfast is either the breakfast buffet or you can order a dish off the menu. I got ricotta tomato scrambled eggs on toast one day. For dinner, for platinum and above you can order a starter and dessert complimentary. I just got food to go for a fast grab and go and it was perfect for a light bite. The duck carnitas tacos and strawberry and rhubarb pie were both pretty yummy. read more

TL;DR: dated hotel but good enough with a decent location Stayed here for a few nights in March. The rooms were decently sized and had an okay view, but everything was definitely worn/dated. ~BEDDING: had some areas with dips in the mattress. The pillows were very lumpy and awkward sized (was the size of a decorative pillow). Sheets were good enough and there were extra blankets in the closet ~CURTAINS: didn't close all the way or overlap. It was also tattered which allowed even more light to come through ~BATHROOM: again, a little dated and doors squeaked a lot. Shower pressure and temperature was good. They had pumpable soaps/shampoos too which smelled nice ~NO SAFE ~DESK: was good but the office chair was tattered and uncomfortable to sit in (we had to do some work while we were there). ~OUTLETS: some worked well, while others did not work at all ~GYM: very basic. Had one bench and one set of dumbbells. ALL the treadmills were terrible whether it's the belt or legs being uneven, causing the whole treadmill to wobble when you walk or run. ~LOCATION: was decent and had plenty of things you could walk to and was right next to the river trail ~STAFF: not particularly friendly or helpful if that matters to you. Really nice hotel in Cambridge area. Not too far from Museum of Science or the Cambridge Place Mall. Valet parking. Cool views of the city from our high floor room. Good location for hotel very close proximity to MIT and the Train. We walked everywhere and took the train to the Boston Commons 2 stops away. My only one gripe the gym was extremely small. Gym has two peloton spin bikes and 3 treadmills, one stair-master, one elliptical and some free weights. Free complimentary breakfast was good. We had a lot of issues here. We were on for a quick trip and encountered nothing but problems from the jump. First off the shower was not clean and had a good amount of hair in the tub. Then when we opened the drawer where the ironing board is we found a used towel. To top it off our television did not work at all. We called someone up to fix it and there was nothing they could do. Stayed for a graduation trip. Very expensive but convenient to MIT. The T subway stop is actually just outside the door, so it's only 2 stops from Harvard and shopping in Cambridge. For how prestigious this area is, this was not a good stay for a Marriott. This building seems run down, but maybe it depends on the room. The location is good, in walking distance to different campuses. During a downpour, the ceiling busted open while I was sleeping in the early morning and started dripping rain water. I was extremely tired for the day, so I didn't have energy to change rooms. The water dripped from the ceiling to one side of the bed. I was able to half-sleep despite the dripping from the ceiling because I was extremely tired. The next morning I called the front desk, and they were able to change my room. Unfortunately, it was not the same view of Charles River like my original room. The front desk said they would give me Marriott points and that the points would show in my account after a few weeks. Fast forward, the points did not show up. I called the hotel to follow up and the front desk redirected me to the website. I also tried submitting tickets through the app and calling customer service without a resolution. Ultimately, I gave up trying to follow up to get those points as it was not worth my time. read more

The information at the hotel AND on the web regarding opening times/prices/how it works for club M were about as much use as a bad dose of the black death. As John M said in his review BLAND! We turned up 5 mins after a supposed opening time for Club M and it was closed. Speakeasy was a tad better but closed at 11 - saturday too so I guess travellers arriving late are out of luck. I was in town for a conference and this was one of the more decently priced hotels that was still available. I checked in online the day before and our room was ready by the time we arrived at 11am. I used mobile key, but wanted a physical key for X so we did stop by the front desk on our way out. Parking is available at the public lot that's attached to the Marriott. It was $45 for 24 hours and we did end up moving it out everyday, so I can't comment on if you can leave it for longer than 24 hours. Marriott offers valet parking for $55, but it's a first come, first served kind of deal. The room was nice with a good desk for X to work from. The bathroom had a sliding door, which wasn't ideal but was fine. Bathroom was well lit and very well positioned. I loved the shower pressure. I had requested extra towels and other amenities like shower caps and dental kits ahead of time via the app and we got everything I requested. We wanted to keep housekeeping at a minimum and the housekeeper did check in with us every morning to see if we wanted our rooms done. Overall, a very solid hotel that's well situated. read more

Situated off the MIT Campus, on the Kendall Square red line stop, the Boston Marriott is one of my faves. Why? 3 reasons: a) it is a small Marriott under 500 rooms, remodeled to the modern Marriott rehabs happening everywhere. b) staff are alert and customer service focused. For eg. they provided me an upgrade to a corner room without my having to ask. c) it's public transportation accessible. Where can you have a subway stop at your hotel and the neighborhood is nice? Here. I liked the M lounge a lot. The M lounge offers free breakfast, snacks and drinks, evening food and wine reception from 5-7p to members gold and above. You can get this free amenity by signing up for a free Bonvoy account and stay in ANY Marriott brand for 25 nights/year or more. The Boston M lounge is comfy, airy, conducive to working compared to most M lounges. I'm sure it gets busy as the amenities here are pretty nice. I like that they have better munchies than most Marriotts. Because the Boston Marriott Cambridge is on Kendall Sq stop, navigating to visit relatives was convenient when the city is gridlocked during rush hour. While the Boston T subway system is one of the more ancient, rickety, not-user friendly and old metro systems in the US, it does its job and gets you from point A to point B much faster than uber during rush hour. Minus a star. River views are now partial because more buildings are going up. Subway passengers walk through the lobby area to get to the other side of the square. If you're carrying stacks of Franklins, there are is no card access system when boarding the elevator. I'd stay here again though for the convenience and smaller hotel feel. Tip: Don't pay more for a river view; it is not worth it as a few buildings are under construction, therefore obstructing a 'river' view. read more

A very good location - MIT and Harvard are within easy walking distance, and the walk to Fenway is a very nice stroll (about 30-40 minutes). Otherwise, there is a subway station below the property. Rooms are compact but with clever design there is plenty of room to stretch out. read more

This is why I love Marriott. The service at the front counter was superb. The room was everything I could ask for. Loved the decor, it was clean, well laid out, and I felt like I was special staying here. The only caution is if you are a safety freak. There's a subway next door. Every time the train comes in half the crowd shortcuts through the lobby to the other side of the building. There are NO controlled access to the elevators and there are a LOT of seemingly random people drinking from the Starbucks hanging out watching the TVs and I. The lobby. I'm confident that most of them can't affoird to stay here but not confident that they could easily knock on my door or whatever. read more

So terrible experience checking in recently. Treated quite shabbily. I was only person in line. I stepped forward and greeted the front desk attendant (J-t was the name on her tag), she just gave me a cold stare, stayed silent, and didn't greet me or introduce herself, and after an awkward pause I finally told her I wanted to check in. She then proceeded to ask for my ID and after looking it over thoroughly looked up my name on her computer and then asked for a credit card. I had done online check-in already through the Bonvoy App on my phone the night before (apparently she didn't know you could do this), and told her I had thought I had received a text already indicating a hotel charge on my credit card. I told her I would look into the matter on my phone and she continued being generally unfriendly. She tried to make me go away by saying that I was basically holding up others so I said I would just step aside and told her to go ahead and help the next customer. Another front desk manager then immediately stepped in at the adjacent counter and offered to see the next customer. Eventually check in was resolved and I went up to my room. The upshot of all of this is that I am cancelling some of my future Bonvoy reservations and trying Hilton Honors for a while. I have never been treated so badly by a hotel attendant. Usually the front desk personnel are quite friendly and, if not, at least professional and courteous. As for some features of this hotel: Parking: you use your room card to to get in and out through a gate and are charged $50 a day. There are in and out privileges. The website lists $45, and $50 for valeted parking but this is wrong, and there is no valet, as far as I could tell. I wouldn't know, the rude attendant did not explain much. Clearance for the covered parking is only 6 feet for those who have large vehicles. There is uncovered parking but be warned that all the spaces pretty much fill up so don't come here if you expect to have to park late at night. There is a big parking lot for the next door shopping center which has a Microcenter and Trader Joe's, but I dont know if you can get away with parking there without getting towed. Beware: for those with large vehicles, the spaces are very very narrow. Adjacent cars will definitely hit your car when they open their doors. When staying in Boston with a car, make sue you vet the place for adequate parking. Not always easy to come by. There is a destination fee of $25 already on the bill which gets you a paper business card with credit at the inhouse cafe Bistro. You must use it all in one transaction. It will basically cover their standard hotel breakfast buffet with sausage, bacon, eggs, etc., (nothing special) but just for one person ($20). Dress is casual and seating is on your own. Basically just your standard hotel breakfast area (except usually the breakfast is free). Alternatively, you can use it on coffee, a bagel sandwich, fruit parfait, yogurt, bottle of orange juice, etc., We had to leave and so it covered the cost of coffee and a breakfast sandwich for the two of us. Not sure why they do all this. Maybe to drum up some business? All I saw was cards and no cash being exchanged. It was annoying. Rode in elevator with another hotel guest who was actually trying to get rid of his cards so if you want to eat for free you can hope to try bumming some off others. This Marriott, located in Cambridge, was just ok. They offered a great last minute deal for members and I grabbed it. Valet parking, which includes in/out privileges is around $50 per day. Self park is not much less. There's not much of a lobby. They were fixing the escalators to go to the upstairs common area which made the lobby look even smaller. The room we got had 2 double beds, which are notably smaller and less comfortable than queen beds. All said and done, this hotel did its job in providing a clean place to sleep for the night. read more

Wow! What a great hotel. Arrived around 12noon to drop off our luggage@ their luggage service since check in was at 4pm. By surprise, they actually had a room available & got us checked in. All thanks go to the front desk staff for making that possible. In addition, the bellman took our luggage to our room for us so that we could drive off to return the rental car & head to our tour. It was such a relief knowing that everything was taken care of so that we could focus on enjoying our day. During our stay, our room attendant was absolutely fabulous & made sure our room was clean and fully stocked. Beds are comfortable, not soft nor hard, & pillows were conforming as you lay on them & with surprise, woke up each morning with zero aches after all the touring we did. I guess we can say, the overall bedding was just right. Check-in was easy, staff is attentive,courteous & helpful. Location is across the street from T Red Line. Easy access to food, drinks,public transportations including blue bikes. M.I.T is across the street. When using the T (subway), Harvard is about 2 stops over and downtown Boston is about 4. A very nice hotel, with the best location if you have business with MIT. It's convenient is that within a few blocks you have lots of good restaurant choices: Legal Seafood, Clover, and even Chipotle and Champions (restaurant/sports bar) is right next door. They have a huge taxi stand in the front but if you want to go greener, a train station right next to the hotel. The hotel is massive by the way - over 24 floors high. Their lobby has plenty of seating areas, TV, papers, oh and Starbucks! Rooms were comfortable and quiet. I got a room facing the river so awesome sunrise and sunset views. Beds and blankets were soft so I had no trouble sleeping. Only downsides are that they have pay wifi (cheap at $12/day) and no free bottled water ($4/bottle) - so bring you own or remember to fill up at the lobby. read more

Worst smelling room I've been in. What adds insult to injury is this room is normally $150/night, but for Harvard graduation time, it skyrockets to $1,300 for 2 nights (single bed). $650/night. Over 4 times the regular rate. Absolute insanity. All for a small room that smells like someone with onion-ripe body odor rubbed their armpits over every square inch of the tiny space. Shameless robbery concerning the rates, given their service. The valet didn't even approach us or offer any aid when we pulled up, which is strange, being you HAVE no other option than to use valet parking. If you're a fan of heavy construction echoing all over the place reminiscent of the "Inception" gong/brass noise before a city collapses...then by all means, stay here and be willing to pay upwards of $1,300 because everything else is booked, and they are more than willing to take advantage of it--literally at your expense. read more

They served a delicious chicken with rice one evening and it was better than the restaurant meals I had while I was in Cambridge. The bathroom in the room was small and the toiletries were a weird Aromatic Wood brand I had never heard of. I am into hotel toiletries, so this matters to me. At least give out those excellent lavender aromatherapy soaps and shampoos that the JW Marriott provides. The view of the Charles River from the room was excellent. The pool was nice but they need to clean the filter of the hot tub-- looked like there was some black stuff in there. read more

A solid hotel. Not the greatest, not the worst. 3 stars at best. It's expensive and they squeeze every penny out of you, so be prepared. Located in a nice part of Boston, the surrounding area is clean and there are places to eat within walking distance. As soon as you get here though, you're met with a dilemma... to self park or valet. Unfortunately, if you're staying here, valet is your only option because there's no in and out privileges with the self-park. Ugh. Well, that'll be $47/day. The hotel has basic amenities, but nothing over the top. There isn't a hotel bar, but they piggyback off a restaurant/bar attached. There is Starbucks though, so that's a plus. The gym/pool was under construction... so that was a let down. As far as the room goes... it's average for an upper end Marriott. The room is sadly small and the layout is a joke. Why is the desk (which can't be moved) directly in front of a 50" tv? The view of the river is a bit disappointing as well because of nearby construction. Bathroom didn't have a tub either... I don't think I've been to a Marriott, or any hotel really, that didn't have a tub. Room look is very modern though, so that's a plus. Breakfast isn't free. Sadly you have to pay for breakfast unless you're an elite member. So, what does all this mean? You've gotta pay pay pay to stay here. Is it all worth it? Ehh, not really. read more

This is my second stay here and I love this property! Everyone working here is pleasant, room are spacious for the city and come with a mini fridge. Bathrooms do not have a bathtub, space is beautifully renovated, so no big deal! This location is a full service property, it has a Starbucks, restaurant, pool, sauna, gym , and an M lounge( which is a nice perk for gold members!)and more. The red line train is footsteps away which is prefect for getting around town. From checking into the hotel to the valet service this property meets all my expectations ! My room was close to the elevator so a bit load when people were coming and going but it wasn't bad the entire night and I was able to sleep well. I do wish they would have complimentary breakfast or at least coffee and tea in the morning. Room service was available though and they were very fast! I would most definitely stay here again as it is convenient to MIT, Harvard and other locations in Kendall Sq. I'm thoroughly displeased with the front desk of this hotel. When we checked in, the woman who helped us (or lack thereof) was Kelly, the blonde employee. She was INCREDIBLY rude to us and made us feel very unwelcome when checking in. Although she did check us in, she had an atrocious attitude and showed utter apathy yet animosity towards us and the other guests. I've been to many 4 and 5 star hotels with stellar treatment from employees, but definitely not from this hotel. I would never have expected this service from a 4 star hotel like Marriott. In fact, the customer service we received from Kelly was equivalent or lower to that of a Motel 6. Other than that hotel was clean and house keepers were very friendly. read more
