This place is a scam. Most major production companies that I've actually met with have no idea that Boston casting even offers acting classes, and if they do contact you for background extra work they're sure going to lie to you jerk you around get you to take off work and then cancel reschedule and never call you back. This place is a joke. For everyone involved. All they want you to do is pay for their internet damn page and then never get you work. Don't waste your time I've been part of this casting agency for 25 years and it's been nothing but a run around and a hemorrhage of money to people who do not deserve it who aren't there and not professional. read more

I LOVE Boston Casting! They are for sure an Casting agency who cares about their actors , everyone in the offices are so nice and treat you with the upmost respect , it doesn't matter if you're calling to ask questions , sending an email , taking a class or auditioning you get treated with so much respect and I do appreciate that. They have a lot of opportunities for everyone you just have to stay on top of your game if acting is really what you want to do. Make sure you sign up for their emailing list and they have a site called agencypro which is a database they also use for talent, it's super useful you can use the free one or pay for it ( paying for it has it perks trust me I know , it's worked out for me ). They provide an array of classes , all throughout the year. They have classes for kids , teens and adults check it out. They don't just provide one class they have numerous ones at numerous times which is very helpful when you can't make one you make another. Jenna and Ann hold classes as well as others but I have taken classes with them and they're AH-MAZ-ZING! I enjoy the classes I learn so much , and I indeed do see a difference in my acting after the classes , you also meet great people who later become your friends and co-workers. Angela the mastermind is great. She's such a busy lady but she for sure makes time to say hello when she sees you around , she always has your best interest at heart. And she knows her stuff , and knows it's well. I did an audition with Mikayla Cramer and Angela Peri. So here's my thing.... I can see that Angela is very comfortable and walks around like she's a boss -you know what. And I don't mind that and all, as long as you know how to respect others. I don't know her well so I'll wait and see because I didn't really interact with her she was just there ....and loud. I mean her presence is strong/dominant. She's clearly the boss I guess. As for Mikayla. I didn't like so much. She rushed everything, she wasn't really welcoming. Kind of like .....okay audition and hurry so I can get my job done on time because I have places to be - attitude. And I just wasn't feeling the vibes at all what so ever. She's a "casting assistant" and she really needs to calm down because it seems as though it got to her head or something. So Mikayla if you're reading, be humble, don't take the job if you can't genuinely enjoy it. Stick to acting if that makes you happier... but don't walk around like you don't know how to talk to people like humans. We're not sheep. We are hard working actors/actresses. read more

I was a paying customer for a year and I replied quickly to every Extra submission that was relevant to my looks/experience/ect.. There were plenty of submissions that I was a good fit for, but only 1 time got a call back. It was a voicemail, and when I called back immediately there was no reply and no option to leave a voicemail because the mailbox was full. I am giving it 3 stars instead of 1 for the remote possibility that maybe if I kept my profile there for another year something would have eventually panned out. read more

5 stars is not accurate and neither is 1 star. They used to be a good company and maybe they still are FOR SOME. I used to get regular work, but that all dried up one year ago. They seem to favor SAG actors and maybe they are supposed to, but again, I used to get work even being non union. They still regularly sent out emails and texts to me informing me of casting calls, but after submitting for 11 months straight and gaining nothing, I told them to drop me and delete my useless profile. Why keep letting them lead me on and get my hopes up over and over? Enough is enough. Hope you have better luck, but don't say you weren't warned. read more

Every in person casting i have gone to through them has been extremely disorganized. the owner is very rude and insulting. they seem to be all about the cash. I began attending classes at age 7 or 8 with Boston Casting and stopped around 2015, not because of any reason to do with the company but because the commute from my home in Western Massachusetts grew to be too much. The staff here are professional yet make you feel very at home. Lorna is an absolute dear!! She is amazing with kids and possesses all the skills of a great acting teacher. She also offers private voice lessons. I read another review bashing Angela Peri.. She is a woman of personality and not only that, she is a woman with the knowledge of what it takes to make it so she will speak the truth and that is what people need to hear in this business. I was able to get a lot of background work and auditions up until I became 14, 15 and 16 years old so please be warned that typically calls are for children and people over 18 and there is rarely anything in the middle. That's not the company's fault, it's just what's being searched for. Anyway, if you're looking to attend classes or for your child to attend classes do it! Acting classes also help with social skills and comfortability and it has helped me tremendously. I miss BC all the time and hope that one day I'll have the means to return as a student again!!! read more

Boston casting is great!! It does not rip you off in money tactics. The economy of different careers are very, scarce,too, in hiring, therefore, because an extra or an actor does not get work, a talent should not complain. Acting, singing, dancing, modeling are not always, easy and there are so many, talented people out of work in a competition field. Also, remember it is a public job and the producer or casting chooses talents, not only by looks, but character, personality, natural ability to be alluring in entertainment, and who might be able to make money from the public in drawing in an audience to come back and continue to pay and purchase a ticket.. . Look at all, your magazines and popular television shows and see, who is the top rated star, before you complain about not being called in as an extra. Can you compare as an extra or an actor. Do not forget,the Governor does not want the film industry in Massachusetts for the tax incentive. There are people signing up to be shown in a movie with other professional actors, or just for fun in order for their families and friends to see them in a movie. I have been involved in different forms of stage, arts/entertainment at the age of four years old. I am thankful to meet Angela Peri and her staff. Also, there are different ways to connect and meet additional resources, if a talent wants to go further in the movie and commercial business. The movie and commercial business is very, expensive and there is numerous competition. You should also, pay attention to successful actors and oscar award winning talents in order to see how rough it was to get started and their experiences. read more

Was a paying member for a year, applied for every single extra job I was appropriate for and didn't get a single callback. I have been modeling for many years, and have done some acting in the past as well. I have a genuine passion for theater and dramatic arts overall however this company did not help me pursue my dream at all. Overall I would give Boston Casting Five Stars. Angela Peri is a great Casting Director and really cares about the extras and actors in the community. She works well with the movie directors and actors and crew and keeps the shoot on schedule. She has a very tough job casting the extras and stand ins etc. that will be featured in the shoots, dealing with people from all walks of life, each with different personalities and attitudes. Sometimes she deals with a lot of very rude actors and people who want everything handed to them on a silver platter and not want to put in the dirty work to get there. And then she has to deal with people who sign up just to see the stars and try to snap photographs on set with them or speak to them every five minutes when they are trying to do their work. Have some common decency people and follow the rules. They have rules for a reason. Just like any JOB you follow them. Angela has to put up with a lot of unemployed people who are always rude about it when they don't get a spot in a film. That's the nature of the beast. Sometimes you luck out and get a spot for two weeks..like i did on Growns up and I got featured right in the basketball scene in "Game to 21 its on." part in the bleachers I am right close up on screen next to Steve Buscemi and Adam Sandler. It was awesome experience on Grown Ups. I've also worked Here Comes the boom, Paul Blart Mall Cop, and Zookeeper and got in Zookeeper and Mall Cop as well .. Also Saw Myself in Boom. Even though you only see yourself for a second you still see yourself. Grown ups was the best one so far though! They usually do good with the catering but again you have to follow the rules and set etiquette. Like SAG goes first, Crew Goes first, Non Union extras go last. its how it works in Hollywood. Deal with it. If you follow the rules like not take your cell phone on set and snap photos, and listen to the PA's / Ads it is really a great experience. If you can't be patient or deal with long hours standing or sitting or just sitting around doing nothing in the extras tent (bring a book, your cell phone smart phone, some writing material if you're a writer or screenwriter, (I bring a book, my smartphone, some snacks, and my screenplay work and blank paper or notebook so I can work on my scripts while we wait.) Sometimes you wait a few hours while they switch cameras or what not in "holding" - its a long day usually 14 hours or so.....but sometimes 8-14. occasionally longer. its just how it is. If you're not a patient person and you don't like people extra work is not for you. You will also have to deal with some non union and SAG people who have BIG EGOS and think they are Robert DeNiro already even if they aren't or never will be. Its just how it is. Always bring BUSINESS cards to the set....you never know who you will meet maybe a future hollywood actor you talk with as non union will be big in five years time. you never know. so bring business cards. Most of the time you can't talk with the crew but some sets are more laid back than others. on Grown Ups I got to chat with the camera director he was a really nice guy. But normally you don't bother the crew or actors when working. If they talk to you you can talk to them etc. Never ask for an autograph on set.....that is a big no no as is snapping photos. At the Sex Tap (Cameraon Diaz) film in the balcony scene when Jason Segal falls off the balcony they filmed at Old Everett High School off Broadway - in Everett Mass. - some guy was trying to take photos every two minutes. He got caught once by a PA and kept doing it. I told him he would be removed fro, the set if he kept doing it. He didn't return. and he didn't listen to me. Just follow the rules, be a cool person on set, and learn about the film industry. Iearned a lot by just watching the PA's and AD's , and crew from being an extra. You're right there where the magic is happening. And its a great way in for a rising actor. Actors like Sal from the TD Garden, and Frankie Imbergamo have all gotten their start as Extras and now are in SAG and getting called on a regular basis in big movies. It can happen it just takes time and patience. So sign up with agency pro pay the $9.95 a month and get your headshots done and start getting work. You can do the free version of agency pro but I pay $9.95 a month. Again You dont ALWAYS get work or a spot in a film. But when you do it can be a great experience. Just follow the rules and be cool on set and things will go better for you. Overall Boston Casting is a good experience. P.S. Keep in m ind more and more people want to be extras and in movies so you're going to have a ton of people at the casting calls. Its how it is. 3.000 people show up for say 200 spots these days. whereas 10 years ago you were lucky to get 500 people at a call. The film tax credits have really helped get more productions here. read more

My daughter is 10 and has had a very positive experience with Boston Casting overall. There has been a steady stream of opportunities and auditions for her. She has booked one job in the six months she's been active with them, and had one callback. Not bad! My only complaint was when one of her bookings was cancelled due to weather, they didn't automatically rebook her when it was rescheduled for another day.
