We went with boston Cab as a last resort on Valentines day, so I'll explain my experience with them, as it was my first and last experience. firstly, I want to mention that we are blind, and we try to let the companies know so that they are aware, for a number of reasons: first, because we have had drivers who will leave when they see the guide dogs, regardless of whether or not they legally have to give us a ride. Second, because Boston is a pretty busy area, and there are lots of horns honking. It's obviously up to the driver at that point to let us know they're there.
We called and ordered a cab and was told it would be there within 5 to ten minutes. About 15 minutes later, I called to ask where my cab was; it turns out that the driver picked someone else up and did not bother to get us. The company knew this right away, so I can only presume they were aware and didn't send a driver out. the second driver that showed up way later sat in his car and laid on the horn. Eventually someone passing by let us know that the horn honking was actually for us. He did not open the door, or even bother yelling for us; we would discover the reason shortly. When I finally located his car, I knocked on the window so that we could ask if this was the actual cab. After banging a few times, the solution was to open the door and ask since he would not roll the window down. I was ignored again while he finished up his sentence on the phone before he answered me. We finally got in and were off; the driver spent the entire time on the phone and watching the TV in his front passenger seat. when we finally got there and paid, he didn't want to run our card and was asking for cash to save him the effort, then he had the audacity to ask if I wanted to tip. No thanks, I don't think I do. After we got out of the cab, it turns out he let us out on the wrong side of the road; when I asked if the destination was in front of me, he did not answer and screamed at my girlfriend to close the door before driving off, while still on the phone.
While I believe my treatment was a bit worse due to the fact that I needed to depend a bit more on the driver, my entire experience with Boston cab was aweful. Not only was I treated badly on the phone, but the driver could not even bother to help us and even take a few seconds from his all-important phone call to roll down his window or even get out. Us being left on the other side of the road and at the wrong set of buildings essentially left it to someone at another business to take the time to help us find our way where we wanted, which should've been what the driver did initially. read more
