Bosphorus Restaurant, Dr Phillips Decided to visit this restaurant to celebrate my husbands birthday. I know there are two locations: Dr Phillips and Winter Park. We chose Dr Phillips because it's closer to our home. We were promptly greeted and seated and our waiter, Kenny, showed up to take our drink order. Kenny was great; very polite and professional. He gave us a few suggestions for drinks and appetizers. We ordered the peach martini and a lemonade and the pick 2 appetizer with the bread. The food arrived at our table super hot and tasty. The appetizer portions were perfect but the bread was huge!! Great flavors and texture. We ordered the Mixed Grill as our entree to try different dishes. The mixed grill was phenomenal, the taste of the lamb and chicken was awesome; the portion was perfect to share; the rice was incredible. I can't say enough about how good the food was. We also ordered desert and (I can't remember the name) it had the most delicious taste of feta cheese. Just amazing. Good: Kenny our waiter was great, very attentive. The manager came over to see if we were doing ok. Outside dining. Prices were reasonable. Portions were perfect to share or individually. Bad: the place is small so the noise levels are extremely high and it's hard to hear the person across the table. Too many tables cramped too close; only one bathroom for ladies and one for men. We came here for the Magical Dining in Orlando, a prix fix 3 course menu from Aug 29 to Oct 2. It was our first time so we took a look at the regular menu and sure thing we added a couple more items to our 3 courses. My husband and I wanted to try the sampler platter for $21.95 and the lavash (Turkish bread) for $4.5, some reviews a very on point when they mentioned this place to be pricey for the portions, but I think you pay for the uniqueness, the quality and the experience. We had some small appetizers (more like amuse bouche) from the 3 course menu, then we ordered the Moussaka with rice pilaf and the combo meat with rice pilaf (chicken and lamb). The moussaka was EXTREMELY good, now for the combo meat, we weren't expecting it to be ground chicken and lamb shaped into a skewer length, so we were not too crazy about this one. For desserts we got Pistachio baklava and dark chocolate mousse. Both sample size but very tasty! To this last course we decided to add some Turkish tea, which is brought to the table and presented on its own Turkish tray, and in very unique cups. The flavor of the tea is like no other! They serve it with 2 sugar cubes but I don't think they're even needed. If you don't want to spend that much money I recommend the Magical Dining Menu at $33 per person until Oct 2nd. Got a Costco gift card for this restaurant. We had full price dinner and happy hour drinks. The manager came with the bill and stated we can't use the gift card on happy hour. I completely understand but the meals that we purchased was full price. The manager gave us two options . Pay full price for the drinks and use the gift card. My brother swears by this place. I hear about it all the time. Every other time I speak to him, he's down here eating the Lavas (well, technically at the Winter Park location). So, en route from the airport, we stopped in for lunch at the Dr. Phillips location, along with my sister-in-law. We were on the fence about whether to order a main for lunch, or just stick with the mixed appetizer platter (Karizik Meze). In the meantime, I ordered one of the Turkish juices. It was Apricot. Cold, and not too sweet, it was the perfect beginning to a delicious meal. A short time later, the Lavas appeared, a pillowy, bouncy castle of bread, preceded by the smell of roasted sesame seeds atop the crust. It's huge, nearly the size of medium pizza. Needless to say, we didn't end up ordering a main course. Instead, we feasted on sliced cucumbers with smoky babaganoush, olives, tarama (a really nice mix of red caviar in a creamy, lemony spread), and Haydari (basically, Turkish tzatziki with walnuts, and minus cucumber and garlic). Of course, there was hummus and tabbouleh, and a great many other things both delicious and fantastic. Service was both friendly and excellent. And did I mention we had over half our appetizer platter left, which we happily took home? Well, we did. I'd love to come back for a full meal sometime, but honestly, the appetizer with an order of Lavas is a full meal...and so good, I don't think I'd ever get past it. Our ticket averaged about $11 per person, with drinks and tax, all in. We went to the Bosphorous in Dr. Phillips for lunch. I used to come to this location when it was Anatolia, and I loved it back then. I hadn't gone back since the sale and name change due to others comments. We finally decided to give it a go... And we weren't disappointed! For starters, we had the lavas and humus. Humus was just the right amount of tart and the bread was fantastically warm and delicate. A proper lavas is something not to pass up! I had the lamb sis kebap and my boyfriend had the lamb adana kebap on my suggestion. Both were delicious although I wish I had gotten the adana! We usually each order something different and share. Believe me there was plenty of food to go round. The various pickles that it comes with were well seasoned. The rice pilaf was fluffy and not overcooked in the slightest. Our entrees were very enjoyable, but it was dessert that made me very glad we chose to eat here for lunch! I am a fiend for pistachio ice cream. Unfortunately, sometimes I end up being disappointed because it lacks in the amount of nuts. Not here though!!! Absolutely chock full of pistachios and I enjoyed every bite. Great food and atmosphere! Went there with a friend to grab some dinner and drinks and everything was great. We ordered the Lavas bread for an appetizer, which was huge and more than enough for the both of us to share. For dinner I ordered the Special Beyti Kebab (highly recommended if you like lamb) and my friend ordered some sort of vegetarian dish, which we both enjoyed very much. The lamb was cooked well and put in a pita wrap. It was SO GOOD, especially with the tomato and yogurt sauces. As far as drinks, we ordered the Turkish Peach Martini and Tammy's Ultimate Margarita. I actually ate here on a whim. I was shopping near by and wanted to try something new. It was a really nice day and so my wife and I decided to eat in the outdoor seating area. I did not think the menu was very large, but that could be a good thing. It usually means what they do have is going to be fresh! It was lunch time and they had 2 for 1 Bellini's, perfect! Never had a Bellini and it was really good. It's basically like a Mimosa but with champagne and peach juice, very refreshing! We had the Lavas bread with Hummus which was amazing. Whats better than fresh hot bread with some tasty Hummus? My wife had the Doner Kebab and I had the Iskender Kebap. Both meals were very tasty. I did like having the yogurt that came with the Iskender Kebap, it went really well with the lamb, Yummy. I did find the Iskender Kebap a tad on the greasy side, but it was so good anyway. The red cabbage that came with the Doner Kebab was really good too. I have to find out how they make that, I guess it's almost like a pickled cabbage. We walked away very pleased and super full. To John the MGR, booked a reservation for my wife birthday using OpenTable and arrived with no wait time. Our waiter Richie was very kind, friendly and courteous. We felt very welcomed and the food was absolutely delicious. For appetizers we had the Sigara Boregi and FalafeI which was on point, had the lamb shank which the portion was very generous and wife had Lamb Adana which she loved. We ended it with künefe with Turkish coffee and my wife had a chocolate mousse which she said was like how she had it in Morocco. (She has chocolate mousse at other establishment but it was not as good as the kind she is use to Morocco, however the chocolate Mousse here was of the same caliber). I was super excited to see the menu. The greetings was indeed Turkish and the menu had Turkish items however, it lacked the zesty flavors from Türkiye. Undressed bland Onions, carrots and cabbage filled the plate and would not have been so bad if the red onions was dressed with parsley and sumac spice which make it the infamous onion salad that's served with kebabs. The lavash was terribly sweet. Service was awesome:) Steve was absolutely wonderful and tried very hard to make it right. Sigara cheese was good but I wish the feta cheese was mixed with some mozzarella or some other cheese to soften the taste a little. I've been here twice now.... Today for my birthday. The least I can say is that this has been a consistently gourmet experience. Every order had been prepared with care with really fresh ingredients. The lavash is aromatic and buttery, the lamb saute a savory delight and the Turkish style pizza so decadent, I was glad to be turning 30 for a moment. We always wondered why it's packed every time we passed by, now we finally understand why. Their food is authentic and delicious! We ordered the lamb shanks, the mixed grill for two platter, infamous lavas bread, and baba ganoush and hummus. He lamb shanks were the best I've ever had, so tender and flavorful. I love the lavas bread, so soft with a little hint of sweet taste. The mixed grill was so much food, we couldn't finish and had to pack it to go. We saved some room for dessert too. Orlando weather has been great for sitting outside. Considering the price and higher-end nature of the restaurant, I'd expect outside seating to be a bit more formal. The service is okay, but again not exactly what I would imagine with a higher-end restaurant but it is sufficient. We get the lavash bread, falafel (so good, so crispy), bhuvesh vegetarian curry, and the lamb kabob. The rice has vermicelli noodles in it - IT IS AMAZING. We ordered the mix meat platter and it was enough for two people. The lamb tasted so friggin delicious. This is the BEST LAMB i have ever had in my life.
