Cannot say enough good stuff about Ernesto and his company. My sons ignition, failed, trapping the key in it, in the on position. My son wanted to try to fix it himself so he can have it back ASAP. I cannot fully express our gratitude for Ernesto at Bosch. An honest professional that went above and beyond for us in solving a long standing issue with our car. We bought a Nissan Versa new in 2012 and it always had an intake sensor issue that caused us trouble each time Smog checks were required. After the expensive trip to the dealership that replaced the intake sensor but did not solve our problem, we went to Ernesto who took the time to research the issue and came up with a solution. It took a little bit but was worth the wait. He did a ton of research and tested a few ideas that in the end, made all the difference. Brought my Prius in for an oil change. Price quoted was higher then any other place but wanted to support a local business. Get a call a few hours later saying the car was ready. Show up and the already high cost for an oil change is an additional $120. Without any heads up they changed all my wipers , a bulb that was out over my license plate and the cabin filter. I'm fine with the cabin filter but didn't want the any of the other things. Basically the bald headed dude who handle the sale said oil changes aren't worth their time So they basically do things like change all their wipers and bulbs bc they make a nice markup to make it worth their time. I can change my own damn wipers on my car, all I wanted was an oil change. Baldy has the nerve to say we will give a discount next time bc of my obvious displeasure with their bad communication on work being done and running the bill up. Not ever coming back, thanks but no thanks. Left paying $240 when all I wanted done was an oil change. Dishonest service that will take advantage of you to make a extra buck if possible. read more

Not sure why the average number of stars for Bosch Automotive is anything less than 5. Ernesto is the master magician of anything running on at least 4 wheels. He has done his magic on a bevy of old cars for me going back to 1988. (31 years?!!) He is also the mechanic you want if you are interested in in the finer points of the whys and hows of your particular demon. I can't recommend him enough, although he probably wont appreciate the added business. He is often snowed under by the workload. (for good reason). read more

Recently I took my BMW here for an oil change. Shortly after the service I noticed oil leaking from below my car. Come to find out that whoever performed the service had cracked my oil cap and either didn't replace the seals/filter or used the wrong ones, which resulted in everything under my hood being flooded with oil. One incredibly expensive bill later, (replacing the cracked cap, seals, belts, filters, oil, alternator and a professional steam cleaning) and I can say without a doubt that I'll never use nor recommend this shop to another person. Ernesto Does It Again! Had difficulty getting my 85 Mazda RX-7 smogged at the local test only station. They tried repeatedly on several occasions but couldn't determine either how to test a rotary engine or why it couldn't pass in spite of recently installed smog components. It languished in my garage for nearly two years until I decided to give it a go once more, this time taking it to Bosch as I should have done to begin with. He determined in the previous tests those doing the testing didn't set their machines correctly and/or had no experience with rotaries. Not driving the car compounded the problem with stale fuel. Ernesto partially filled it with fresh gas, performed a smog check and found it passed. As a bonus, he rectified a clunking sound under the car and fixed it with a minor repair. Now I'm awaiting DMV for my registration sticker so I can get back on the road after a nearly two year absence. Thank you Ernesto, you're highly recommended! read more

Scheduled a smog check at Bosch. Took the car in right on time. No issue. Fair price. Anyone can do a smog check. The interesting thing with Bosch and Ernesto was the time he took to answer my questions - even questions not related to the smog check. Very personable. Excellent! I called all over Petaluma to get quotes for a Test Only Smog Certification that the DMV wanted, Bosch was one of the lowest prices in town, AND they were the nicest over the phone! As a woman I always get worried when I go to a new mechanic, but the woman at the front desk was SO nice and answered all my stupid questions since I know nothing about cars. I was dumb enough to leave my renewal notice at home, and the really nice guy who worked on my car assured me it was no big deal, which was such a relief! They were nice, cheap and quick, what more could I ask for? read more

The most honest and knowledgeable shop I've EVER done business with. Ernesto truly stands behind his work. He replaced my alternator, It was a 7 hr job because my axel needs to be dropped to get to it. Well, Two weeks later when my battery light came back on he didn't make a thousand excuses or try to weasel out of it, he knew right away the alternator he installed was faulty and did the work free. He could of very easily said it was something completely different and charged me a ton of money and just replaced the part anway. I would of never been the wiser. Well I went back to get my car smogged again. What Bosch did was only run a test when they knew it would pass to keep my cars' good record going. It passed. However they left me with a car that had more problems than before. They forgot to connect one of the vacuum hoses to my carburetor so it ran like junk until I fixed it. They told me I needed to replace my radiator until I put a hose clamp on it to stop the leak. They were right about my water pump. I get it that my car being 30yo is a pretty good gold mine but the least they can do is a decent job and give me back my car in better shape than I dropped it off. See ya later Bosch. read more

When Dennis retired, his lead mechanic (Ernesto) bought the business from him. Ernesto is a wealth of knowledge regarding classics, hotrods, and every day drivers. He takes the time to listen to you and then fully addresses your issues. He will spot things that other mechanics will miss or overlook. He will tell you what should be addressed right away and what can wait. His staff is courteous and professional. Ernesto always does great work! I have been bringing my Toyota truck and wife's Acura SUV to him since I bought them a few years ago and I have been bringing my '66 Mustang to him for years. He is thorough and knowledgeable. He always gives me good information about my different options for the work that needs to be done and tells me about other options for things I may/may not want to have done as well. It's hard to find an honest mechanic and Ernesto is a straight shooter.
