This is one of my new favorite places. After reading reviews online to find a place to get my first…read moretattoo, this spot stood out above the rest, by a long shot. I was a little nervous, not sure how to make an appointment, cost, the process but I told myself, if I walk in and I am welcomed with open arms and they don't giggle at me for having zero tattoos, I would do it. Kolby and group greeted me openly, I asked my newby questions, and poof, appointment on the books (with a deposit). Now I seriously want to come here everyday and get new ink, I am not kidding, I have to hold myself back. I appreciate how clean and fun this place is and they are extremely talented, kind of what you want in tattoo artists. Kolby has rocked my experiences/tattoos off the chart and both times walking me through his process as I needed. He is an excellent support with his positive and funny banter and thoughtfulness (getting me his coat to cover up since my tattoos have been on my rib cage/chest area). He is also an excellent artist, I lucked out on this find. I seriously don't have enough positive words to share that can showcase the amazing experiences and high quality of work. Let me say this to all the non-tattooed people that want to be tattooed but are scared, like I was, do it here! Just go. You will be smiling from ear-to-ear that you finally did it.... And then you too can battle the urge, like I do, to come here everyday to hang out with fun people and get new ink. (Tattooed people too, come here, duh!)

I was really excited to get a helix piercing for my birthday, but unfortunately the experience…read moredidn't turn out well. After visiting multiple piercing studios to buy jewelry, I learned from three different piercers that my helix was placed incorrectly and that using a ring in a fresh helix piercing is considered high‑risk d ue to the likelihood of rejection, bumps, and tearing. All of them recommended removing it, letting it heal, and starting over with a stud. It was frustrating and disappointing, especially after confirming the information myself online, because I trusted that going to a tattoo shop meant I'd get a safe, properly placed piercing. The cost was also significantly higher than other studios, which made the situation even more discouraging. When I called the tattoo shop to talk about it, the conversation with the piercer felt dismissive. I was essentially told the issue was due to me not giving enough information, and that they had pierced "thousands of ears" this way. I did agree to the front placement, but I assumed the piercing would go straight through the cartilage, not at an angle through softer tissue. I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience left me genuinely unhappy and I wouldn't recommend this location for piercings.

Not only is their studio a clean, welcoming, and sterile environment, I can trust that all of the artists will do amazing work with clean lines and a light hand. After having trusted Jon with my head years ago, Weston took care of my sideburns today, and I couldn't be happier with the result. The fact that I would trust this shop to work on my head should speak enough volume to their quality of work. If you are in downtown Boise and looking for great tattoo artists, give them a call and schedule your appointment, you won't regret it.

They are respectful, courteous and very knowledgeable. Huge shoutout to Weston for doing an amazing job! I can't wait to be back. I called thinking I would need to make an appointment to see Simon (he is the owner so I figured he was super busy) but instead they handed Simon the phone. I couldn't believe how readily available he was and how much he wanted to help. As soon as you walk in to his shop you could feel how clean and organized it was. Simon was so easy going and easy to talk to. His artwork displayed around the shop is incredible so we knew we were in good hands. My sister and I were thrilled with our final result. I highly recommend this tattoo shop. You wont be disappointed.

I met with Tony Adamson and we discussed ideas of how to work with my existing work to create a flowing back piece. (I currently reside in Las Vegas.) I had initially made my appointment with another business for Wednesday morning, but that fell through at the last minute, and I was forced to scour Yelp for other tattoo parlors that would be willing to take a walk-in. (I had already purchased tickets for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" at 3:30 and, thus, needed to get my ink done in less than 2 1/2 hours.) I finally landed at Black Cat Tattoo. Travis Campion took my phone call, and he assured me he could have me in and out in a couple hours. I emailed him a picture of what I wanted, and when I arrived ten minutes later, he already had a drawing prepared. (I'm a Super Mario Bros fan, and I chose an image of Mario riding Yoshi.) Travis started working on my right bicep around 12:30 and was done by 2:45. And while I was prepared for the pain, I was pleasantly surprised that the amount and duration of pain was well within tolerable levels. I was very pleased overall with my experience at Black Cat, and with Travis in particular. He gave clear instructions for the care of my tattoo and invited me to call him anytime with questions. His price was also fair and reasonable for the size and amount of time involved. The artwork and ink were very well done, and my friends and family have given praise as well. For my first - and probably only - tattoo, I'm very happy I ended up with Travis and Black Cat Tattoo!

I have had nothing but compliments on them over the years, and they have held up very well for their age. Mike had recommended I go to Sean, if he ever wasn't around, or if there was something he knew Sean would do better. Recently, I had a piece that didn't turn out so well after healing, not to mention the fact that my first experience with an artist from a shop that was NOT Black Cat could only be described as unprofessional (Bad attitude, bad work ethic, and ultimately, a bad tattoo). This shop was in WA, where I live now. I decided to go see Sean, when I was in town for Christmas. Sean completely revived this piece and breathed new life into it. It looks better than it ever did to begin with. He even came in on his day off to accommodate my being there from out of town. The level of customer service and the quality of work I receive(d) at Black Cat Tattoo is a night and day difference from the other place. It's been that way for over 20 years at Black Cat and I cannot recommend them enough. If you want quality work from an artist that cares, go see Sean at Black Cat Tattoo.
