I made the mistake of going elsewhere for my nose (nostril) piercing in November 2021. I developed a bump that wouldn't go away for MONTHS. I went back to the place I got the piercing multiple times for help, and little did I know the recommendations they were giving me were harmful to my skin. Fast forward to March 2022 -- I go to my doctor because I'm so discouraged, and we realized that the material of the piercing was NOT implant grade, and therefore has nickel and is an irritant to most skin types (like why would you even offer this?!). AND it was a corkscrew piercing which is just painful (I didn't know any better!!). I went to Sam based on reviews, and she gave me hope that I could keep my nose piercing. She helped me pick a piercing that I could customize, explained the science and reasoning behind piercing care, and was kind enough to give me her card to text any additional questions and to come back in. Now, two weeks later my bump is almost entirely gone and I love my new piercing so much! I have major regrets that I didn't go to Sam in the first place - it would have saved me so money and prevented so much anxiety and stress.

Worst piercing experience I've ever had!!!! My friends and I…read morecame here to get piercings, and we all left deeply disappointed. We honestly should have turned around and walked out the moment we stepped in--none of the staff greeted us. Three employees were sitting around on their phones, and with no other customers in the shop, it felt unwelcoming and awkward from the start. We weren't given any choice in our jewelry, and what they did put in was completely incorrect. One of my friends got a conch piercing, and instead of a flat back stud (which is standard and appropriate), they used a horseshoe ring. Another friend and I got upper helix piercings, and they put in 20 gauge butterfly back lobe jewelry--which is absolutely not suitable for cartilage piercings. I've had several cartilage piercings before, so I immediately knew something was wrong. I asked the piercer why he used a butterfly back instead of a flat back, and he dismissed my concerns, saying, "I've been piercing for a long time, so I know what I'm doing," and claimed that flat backs are harder to clean. Ironically, butterfly backs are full of little crevices where bacteria can easily build up, making them more difficult to keep sanitary. To make matters worse, when I got up after being pierced, I noticed my hand was bleeding. I suspect he dropped a needle and it nicked me, which was very concerning. That's when I realized he hadn't wiped down the chair between clients--and even more disturbing, the piercers didn't wash their hands before gloving up. They had literally been eating pizza when we arrived. The aftercare advice was also completely off. He told me to clean the piercing with Dial soap because "everything else would dry it out"--referring to saline solution. That's just bad advice. Drying out the area is exactly what you want to avoid bacteria buildup. Overall, the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth. It felt like they had no real understanding of safe, hygienic piercing practices. As soon as I got home, I booked a jewelry change appointment at my trusted piercing shop--Hippie Hoops and Holes--who are incredibly professional and kind. At that appointment, they were shocked by what I told them about this shop. They replaced the jewelry with the correct gauge, which was painful because the previous piercer had squeezed on the butterfly backs so tightly there was no room for swelling. They had a hard time removing them. My friend with the conch piercing also had to get hers changed. The piercer at Hippie said the ring had been bent to fit around her ear--and if she'd left it in, it likely would have caused a major keloid or even ruined the piercing altogether. It's common knowledge that you don't pierce a conch with a hoop. They also told us that all of our piercings had been done at strange angles, and if they don't heal properly, we may need to have them corrected in the future. That's not something anyone should have to worry about after paying for a professional service. I truly cannot recommend this place to anyone. If I could rate it zero stars, I would. Also, please note that in Idaho, tattoo/piercing shops aren't required to have a sanitary license--so please do your research and be cautious before getting any service here.

(I currently reside in Las Vegas.) I had initially made my appointment with another business for Wednesday morning, but that fell through at the last minute, and I was forced to scour Yelp for other tattoo parlors that would be willing to take a walk-in. (I had already purchased tickets for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" at 3:30 and, thus, needed to get my ink done in less than 2 1/2 hours.) I finally landed at Black Cat Tattoo. Travis Campion took my phone call, and he assured me he could have me in and out in a couple hours. I emailed him a picture of what I wanted, and when I arrived ten minutes later, he already had a drawing prepared. (I'm a Super Mario Bros fan, and I chose an image of Mario riding Yoshi.) Travis started working on my right bicep around 12:30 and was done by 2:45. And while I was prepared for the pain, I was pleasantly surprised that the amount and duration of pain was well within tolerable levels. I was very pleased overall with my experience at Black Cat, and with Travis in particular. He gave clear instructions for the care of my tattoo and invited me to call him anytime with questions. His price was also fair and reasonable for the size and amount of time involved. The artwork and ink were very well done, and my friends and family have given praise as well. For my first - and probably only - tattoo, I'm very happy I ended up with Travis and Black Cat Tattoo!

Recently, I had a piece that didn't turn out so well after healing, not to mention the fact that my first experience with an artist from a shop that was NOT Black Cat could only be described as unprofessional (Bad attitude, bad work ethic, and ultimately, a bad tattoo). This shop was in WA, where I live now. I decided to go see Sean, when I was in town for Christmas. Sean completely revived this piece and breathed new life into it. It looks better than it ever did to begin with. He even came in on his day off to accommodate my being there from out of town. The level of customer service and the quality of work I receive(d) at Black Cat Tattoo is a night and day difference from the other place. I booked an appointment with Queenie during her $100/hr special. I've had over a dozen tattoos, and…read moremy husband is fully covered, so we know how tattoo sessions typically go. What I experienced here was unlike anything I have before. I sent Queenie pictures when I initially scheduled the appointment and then a few more on the day of when she told me that she had already drawn something up and would have to delay our appointment by an hour since I was changing that. When I booked, I had only sent her a few ideas of what I was thinking so she had a rough idea of placement, timing, etc. I assumed we would work together to design something when I arrived. It was never communicated to me that she would be drawing something up ahead of time. We had to spend a good amount of time taking elements out of the design That she had created because it was much busier than I wanted. Then she spent a long time creating the stencils and even running downstairs several times to replace the toner cartridge. None of this was a big deal when I didn't realize I was getting charged $100 an hour for it. When she put the stencil on I said I felt like the scale was off and that we needed to go smaller. Instead of working with me, she snapped, "Do you just want to come back another day?!" and told me that she would need to charge me if this kept taking longer. I told her I was happy to pay to get this tattoo right. We removed a few more elements and at that point, I just felt pressured to move forward and super overwhelmed so I said we were all good to go. During the tattoo, I asked what she was considering for her back tattoo, and she made multiple comments about how bad ornamental work (Which is the Style of tattoo she was doing for me) looks next to realism (which is the large back piece that I already). She was basically saying how bad my design choice was without saying it. I didn't even hear it at the time but I can't imagine that's accidental by a tattoo artist. To criticize putting the two styles I'm having permanently on my body, right to me, was pretty rude. By the end of the session, she charged me $400 for four hours, even though a large portion of that time was on design and stencil. I still tipped 20% and even left an additional $100 deposit for a follow-up appointment, hoping to move forward and not realizing how much I compromised the tattoo I was getting. When I later texted her about the timing and thought maybe we did the math wrong, she stood by it and told me my tattoo would've been $650 with anyone else. Then I told her my concerns with the tattoo and she asked how I would want to fix it - basically agreeing to work on it and apologizing that I wasn't happy and felt rushed. When I sent her pictures of what I was thinking, and that I was even considering lasering off part of it so that I wouldn't have to compromise the design I wanted, she suddenly said that she didn't think we should work together anymore--but still refused to refund my $100 deposit. So not only did I have a terrible experience and get overcharged, but she also kept an extra $100 deposit for work she refuses to do. Tattooing is personal and Not everyone is a good fit for each other. I totally get that. We clearly shouldn't work together, but to not return my deposit when you are the one not willing to book another appointment is wild. I absolutely wouldn't recommend booking with Queenie.

Went back and took under five minutes to get cleaned and pierced. Everybody was very welcoming! I got my helix done and as I've said it was quick and didn't hurt as much as my third piercing! Also I only paid $40.00 plus a tip! Overall I definitely recommend!
