I could not agree more with the other reviews I read about the unfinished shoddy work, and feeling swindled. Frank overshares about how fantastic his work is, all the special shampoos and stain chemicals he has.
Anyway, we were jazzed to get the car detailed as a very special treat, but when we picked the car up I was in absolute SHOCK- the car ABSOLUTELY REEKED of cigarettes/sweet cigars. Like- we could not breathe. I had to drive my kids home in the winter with the windows down.
As I sat there in shock, Frank got in his little jeep with the windows rolled up and hot boxed himself with a cigarette.
When I say it reeked, I mean it was causing shallow breathing and headaches for days. I am seriously worried that my CAR is RUINED. It's really not something to take lightly. My whole garage smells like old man cigars. SO GROSS.
Less importantly, but also making the whole thing even weirder, the carpets weren't even vacuumed, a couple of the floor mats were soaking wet, but NOT clean. There was oily armor all- type residue all over everything that should not have oil on it, like, the plastic parts and the INTERIOR of the windshield, which took a few passes to clean off. (Still working on getting that all off.)
Thank goodness I immediately dumped 4 lb of baking soda allllll over every carpeted part of the car, and let it sit all night, and wiped down rest the interior and seats three times with warm soapy water. I still have my windows wide open every time I can, and when I have to close them, the smell builds back up.
I know the smell is in the ceiling upholstery, but I am afraid to mess with it because I don't want the glue & fabric to start falling apart. I wanted to pay for a detailing with another company who could treat the ceiling, but it is quite costly, and unfortunately we already paid Frank.
In the end, we brought in a very clean and maintained car to get the carpets shampooed, and not I am not sure my car will ever not smell like an old man's ash tray. We VERY KINDLY let Frank know what happened, if for no other reason than to possibly save someone else from the SMOKE. He talked in circles, aggressively, and of course wouldn't give us our money back. read more
