We waited an hour to be triaged by the vet tech then another hour before he was seen by the veterinarian. I was then told it would be a few more hours before he could get any tests done, so I opted to just make him comfortable, take him home and I would follow up with my regular vet tomorrow. I was then hoping for a speedy discharge, but it ended up taking over another hour. I hope they bring on more staff to resolve the long wait times. Staff seem friendly although when I had called previously to inquire about whether they had a specific specialty on staff, the reception was not very helpful/ knowledgeable at all. Located in the heart of Downtown St. Albert next to Songkran Thai (Yum!) and across the street from the Cajun house. I was pleasantly surprised to find the prices here on point with what we had been paying at Morinville and significantly less than Tudor Glen Vet (think boutique vet in St. Albert). I could go one and on and write an essay about Dr. Metenchuk. Honestly, I'd follow her to the other end of Edmonton. She's caring, compassionate, understanding and has a heart of gold. She's saved my 16 year old kitty's life from a bowel obstruction and also took all the time in the world with us when we needed to put down a beloved 18 year old kitty this winter after he had a stroke. We also adopted two kittens that her family fostered because they were sooooo tiny and taken from their Mom too young. It's so much fun getting to see their reaction to her as they've grown and also showing her pictures of the trouble they get into. I know first hand those kittens were loved to bits and socialized well under the care of Dr. Metenchuk and her family. It may be an older building without all the bells and whistles and snack bar treats of other vets in town but I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Dr. Metenchuk is one in a million and I'm so very blessed to have her care and guidance over my fur babies.

Profit over integrity…read more The reception staff are lovely and one of the vets I have met genuinely seems to have well being of my pet as a priority. That being said, I have completely lost confidence in the integrity of this clinic. In my experience, my presence is seen as an opportunity to exploit my pets well being to fabricate as many reasons as possible to extract money from me. Thankfully my pet is very healthy and has only minor issues but even those were blown out of proportion and cost hundreds upon hundreds of dollars each for treatments that did not work. Both times, I resorted to talking to other pet owners who informed me of over the counter treatments that cost under $10 and worked with a few days. Sadly this seems to be characteristic in the companion animal veterinarian industry so good luck finding somewhere better.

Absolutely appalling treatment from a long-trusted clinic…read more I've been a loyal client at Oxford Vet for over 7 years and never imagined I'd be writing a review like this. We brought our dog in for a laceration repair, paid nearly $1000 for the procedure, and followed their instructions to the letter--including returning a week later for stitch removal. Within an hour of leaving the clinic, the wound reopened. We brought our dog back immediately, worried and looking for help. Instead, the male veterinarian came out with an aggressive, condescending attitude. He instantly blamed us, accusing us of not properly monitoring our dog and insisting we must have let him lick the wound--despite the fact that our dog had his cone on at all times and was closely supervised. When I expressed concern, he snapped that he "won't tolerate me taking it personally" and told me I was welcome to take my dog elsewhere. This was after I had just paid him $1000 and my dog was now in pain again. Only after insisting he take responsibility did he agree to re-sedate and re-stitch the wound--then told me I would not be welcome back to the clinic. There was no empathy, no reassurance--only arrogance, defensiveness, and blatant disrespect. He even said I was "making a big deal out of nothing," as if my pet's ongoing pain was irrelevant. His tone was hostile, and his body language was confrontational, as though daring me to challenge his "20 years of experience." Sadly, after this experience, I read other reviews and realized I'm far from the first person to be treated this way. Multiple customers have reported this same vet's aggressive, rude behavior and complete lack of bedside manner. The front desk staff at Oxford have always been wonderful, and my past experiences were positive--but this incident was deeply upsetting and unacceptable. I won't ever return, and I strongly urge others to read the negative reviews and think twice before trusting this clinic with their beloved pets
