a bowl of chips and guacamole
    Doreen M.

They were in Culver City & I got a chicken, pork, and beef taco, guac/chips, and a boxed water. Each taco was very good! I was worried about how spicy the salsas would be, but it was good! On the mild/medium side. Guac was fire! $6.50 and a lot of guac. Each taco was about $3-$4. Boxed water was $2.50. They also had battered fried shrimp tacos and sweet potato tacos. Food came out fast. Was limited menu because it was a food truck event/long lines so no other dishes except bowls. Would have tried quesadilla or burritos if they had it. Would eat again! Def the steak, chicken tacos & guac/chips. The pork taco was kinda bland/not as flavorful as the rest.

Carnitas tacos with chips and guac

I tried Border Grill for the first time for lunch today. They are so quick getting your food, everyone was surprised. You order your food and a minute later, your order is ready! I got two carnitas tacos with chips and guac for $10.50. It was so good! I'm full but I don't have that heavy feeling. They didn't skimp on the meat, which I appreciated. They bring chips and guac to a whole other level. When you try this, you HAVE to buy the chips and guac!!!!!!!!!! . Also, all of the employees in the food truck were handsome ;)

We had one of these trucks at work for lunch courtesy of our Vendor HP we didn't have a menu choice it was all prepared a ready to pick up we got 3 tacos ( Carnitas, Carne Asada and chicken) rice beans and chopped salad. It was ok the rice was kinda hard but tasty the tacos were ok I think the carnitas one was the best the carne asada one was a bit too spicy for me and the chicken was a bit too lemony. The salad was good had a little kick to it as well. Lastly the beans were ok. Knowing we had a limited menu since it was catered to us I can't say how the other stuff are. Overall an average taco truck maybe if I was able to have the tacos the way I wanted may have been better I'm very picky on what I like in my tacos.

3.5 stars 5 stars for the churro tots and the outstanding friendly service 3.5 stars for the remaining food I tried 2 stars for pricing The best thing at the Border Grill Truck are the churro tots! They are more of a cinnamon donut than a churro but who cares cuz they are absolutely tasty little morsels of goodness! Five star quality those tots! They are served like donut holes and you get 5 of them with a runny whip cream sauce. Or maybe the whip cream melted because the tots were served super warm! I can't be sure because I stole a tot from a friend who ordered them. I ordered one Potato Rajas Taco $2, one Carne Asada Quesadilla $5, and one Green Corn Tamal $4 with tax added my total order for 3 items was $12 and change which I thought was a little on the high end for the amount of food I ended with. I found the Green Corn Tamal and the potato taco to be the best items out of the 3 things I ordered. I would rank them both as 3 and 1/2 stars as they were not the best versions I had of either item nor where they the worst. I liked how the tamal was served. It came in a cone cup with a spoon so it basically was the innards of a tamale. The mixture was very tasty but LuLa's in Santa Monica still serve the best green corn tamales in LA (in my opinion). The Carne Asada Quesadilla was too greasy for my taste. The carne was good but I wasn't a fan of the cheese they used to mold the quesadilla together so ultimately I didn't really end up enjoying this particular quesadilla. The service was spectacular in that the people working the truck were very friendly. The wait like any other truck was a tad long but that is the nature of food truck chasing. A true chaser waits! One more thing about the service....I love it when people smile cuz you know they care about what they are serving. Overall a good experience.

Where's the Meat?! Ordered the burrito with carnitas and cilantro garlic fries. Very disappointed with the amount of meat in my burrito! I cut off a 1/4 of my burrito to share with my coworker, took 3 bites in and got my first piece of meat. With each bite I was hoping to catch a piece of meat. By 5-6 bites in, I was done before I could finish it. Fries were good though. That was their saving grace, but when they come back to my work building, never again. I'll let the people in my office know too.

    churro tots!

Churro tots needs a photo! I kept seeing churro tots highlighted on the reviews but no photos (prior to trying)! So I fulfilled my duty to take one before I devoured these delightful treats! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/VKBkOIhv8yc1rqBOebYs0A?selected=sXZ8gzd6Oyt3F4R8ZsbbCg They were warm, soft and chewy with yummy cinnamon, filled with dulce de leche and perfect with the whipped cream. 5 pieces for $3.00 was not bad. I had seen in westways magazine months back a note to get the churro tots and avocado tacos here. Dude was hesitant about getting a no meat taco but agreed to try something different. And different it was in a yummy way!!! The avocado was covered in black sesame, quinoa and amarantha, and was topped with a corn mayo-relish, chipotle salsa and pickled onions.http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/VKBkOIhv8yc1rqBOebYs0A?select=7FuhvN_4x-J24BmshSSxVg I have to say we both agreed it was fabulous! I wanted more. The carne asada taco with lotsa guac looked good too tho!

I came across the Border Grill Truck today in Woodland Hills by dumb luck and with only a few people in line, figured I'd give them a try. It was shortly before 1:30 when I got up to the window and was told I was the last customer for the day (that good karma came back!). At that point there were only tacos left which was fine with me. My order was as follows: Carne Asada Taco (x2) - with caramelized onion, salsa fresca and guacamole Cilantro Chicken Taco - with tomatillo and creamy salsa fresca Yucatan Pork Taco - with pickled onions and orange salsa I first went with the carne asada which was cooked perfectly; the salsa and guacamole were both fresh and really added to the taco. Up next was the cilantro chicken taco and really liked the creamy salsa. I wasn't sure what to think when I first saw it but enjoyed it more and more with each bite. However, the star of the day was the yucatan pork taco. The pork had amazing flavors and the orange salsa added a flavor explosion. By far their best of the three tacos that I tried. As much as I liked the quality of the food, and as friendly as they were, and as quick as the service was I wonder how much is being charged for the name? I find $14.50 for four "mini tacos" and a soda to be a bit steep considering I could have walked a few blocks to Canoga Park and got a lot more for a lot less.

    Citrus Chicken Burrito
    Toni L.

Something is wrong when your burrito is 90% beans. Food: Came here with a bunch of people from work who love, love, love Border Grill. I was pretty psyched to try it out since I'd never been and everything on the menu sounded amazing. I ordered the citrus chicken burrito (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/border-grill-truck-los-angeles?select=sXZ8gzd6Oyt3F4R8ZsbbCg#q7Xvw8JATMrbcM_0p95bWQ) hoping that the portion size would be larger than the tacos. While I was correct in my assumption, I didn't anticipate that the burrito would contain the amount of chicken usually found in one taco. I think I ate through two thirds of the burrito before I encountered my first piece of chicken. It was also one of the last pieces of chicken. Even worse, the rice and beans were largely unseasoned. Atmosphere: It's a truck. Props to them for picking one of the swankier locations in Pasadena to hang out. Service: I think they must've forgotten about my order or did everything with citrus chicken last because I waited for my burrito for an eternity. I think at least 5 people who had ordered after me got their food before mine came out. Everyone who I came with had finished eating by the time I got my burrito. Synopsis: Maybe my experience was a fluke, but it was bad enough to be rather memorable. I'd pretty much never try this truck again. It was a total rip off.

Second course from this year's OC Foodie Fest was the "Master's Meal" combo from the Border Grill truck. If you watched this year's past Top Chef Masters, they were Chef Mary Sue Milliken's winning dishes from the show. I thought everything was delicious, and packed some great flavors. Here's the breakdown: Quinoa fritters (4 stars) - I love to cook quinoa, as it serves as a good alternative to the heavier, starchier carbs like rice and pasta. Deep frying it into fritters with cotija cheese and aji amarillo aioli (mustard-like)? I'm all there. The crunchy exterior (aztec grain) complimented the soft interior. It may look dry, but it's surprisingly moist on the inside. Carne asada quesadilla (3 stars) - executed well, good flavors from the lime marinated steak. Nothing terribly exciting or original, the tortilla was a bit limp and could've been grilled longer for more crisp -- overall, just a solid quesadilla that I found myself finishing up rather quickly. Churro tots (5 stars) - my favorite from the truck and dessert overall from the OC Foodie Fest. Forget all the shave ice, ice cream concoctions, fancy drinks, etc. Imagine if a churro and a tater tot got busy in a wild and crazy night. The end result would be these churro tots. The dulce de leche flavor just pops, and the cinnamon sugar gives it a subtle sweetness. Dip into some homemade whipped cream, and I'm in churro tot heaven.

found them on Hollywood blvd at a Kaiser Permanente Farmers Market and as you can see with NO waiting!
    Pancho V.

So after I went to the Doctor today I cruised around the block and headed back down Hollywood blvd, then I notice some signs Kaiser Permanente Farmers Market at the Barnsdall Gallery, so I glance over as I'm driving right by it and see a Black truck that says Border Grill, Hmmmm I turn around and park to check things out. Ahhh NO lines, NO waiting I'll check it out.......http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/VKBkOIhv8yc1rqBOebYs0A?select=mEtqBQIbq0zMpBJIUbAYDw So I order 1-Yucatan Pork Taco $2.50, Rosted achiote pork, Pickled onion, ORANGE salsa (Si Naranja) 1-Carne Asada Taco $3.00, Carmelized onion, Salsa fresca, Guacamole......http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/VKBkOIhv8yc1rqBOebYs0A?select=H0QWA6dX2IBLrSAnZV6phg The tortillas were slightly hard not that big of a deal, the Carne Asada taco was pretty good but nowhere near worth the $3.00 price tag for street food!, the Yucatan Pork taco to me was a mess.....with the pickled onion (that red stuff) and actual BIG chunks of ORANGE their version of a salsa, I honestly could NOT get any flavor from the pork!. And their LARGE beverage selection of Lemonade, Ice Coffee or Bottled Water........... I'm sure these guys do OK with all the trendy hipsters that find it fun to twitter and chase a truck around (FAIL).........but it's just way overpriced and only 1 of 2 tacos were worth eating. SORRY, Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger Border Grill Truck 2.5-Stars

Convenient food truck, tried their burrito, which actaully tasted good, organic red rice, chopped romaine, mexican cheeses, grilled corn relish, salsa fresca, add guacamole, organic black beans, skirt steak, expect around $10 per order.

    Peruvian Ceviche
    Lauren B.

I came here during the OC Fairground food truck event, which I love! So many good trucks, great space, and beer. weee! :) The Peruvian ceviche is really good, great spice and flavor. I love the cone idea and it is easy to eat.The potato raja tacos yummy too. I also enjoyed that the prices on this truck are not super expensive and the dishes are smaller in size. I want to try ALOT of things when I am at a food truck event. After all, this is suppose to be street food. Easy and portable. I feel a lot of food trucks are loosing sight of that idea. Having items $10-12 dollars and not being able to eat without a knife and fork and a butt load of napkins, what's that point? I might as well go to a sit down restaurant. Loved it, I hope they come around to OC more.

Raw fish and tamales in a cone....churros in ball form? Sure, why not? Yum, tasty gimmicks.
