Only because I can not give a 0 star. Having recently undergone a multilevel lumbar fusion and about to undergo additional neck surgery due to a automobile accident, I was prescribed Percoset. After travelling to several pharmacies in and around Baton Rouge and not having any success filling my prescription for pain medication (due to the fact that it is backordered in every other pharmacy), I was given this pharmacy's name as one to contact. I called the pharmacy and spoke with the pharmacist and he refused to fill this prescription even though he had the medication in stock and verified the prescription online. The pharmacist told me that he would not fill just one prescription unless I filled others there as well. I explained that I did not have any other prescriptions to fill and that I had just undergone major surgery and had another impending neck surgery. He was more concerned about his profit and the fact that I regularly use Walgreens and not his pharmacy than he was about my medical health. Ultimately he told me that if I could not bring other prescription business to him that he would not fill this prescription, as there was not enough profit in just one prescription and his job was not to provide prescriptions for just one time, but to provide prescriptions for regular customers. I understand that this is a business, however a pharmacist is supposed to look out of the well being of his patients before his profit. Clearly this greedy individual is more concerned with profit than patients. I would run from this place as I would question what other shady activities this pharmacist could potentially be involved with if he is demanding patients bring all their prescriptions to him just to fill this one. Clearly this pharmacist does not care about the oath that he took to become a pharmacist as set by the American Pharmacists Association (see attached below):
"I promise to devote myself to a lifetime of service to others through the profession of pharmacy. In fulfilling this vow:
*I will consider the welfare of humanity and relief of suffering my primary concerns.
*I will apply my knowledge, experience, and skills to the best of my ability to assure optimal outcomes for my patients.
*I will respect and protect all personal and health information entrusted to me.
*I will accept the lifelong obligation to improve my professional knowledge and competence.
*I will hold myself and my colleagues to the highest principles of our profession's moral, ethical and legal conduct.
*I will embrace and advocate changes that improve patient care.
*I will utilize my knowledge, skills, experiences, and values to prepare the next generation of pharmacists.
I take these vows voluntarily with the full realization of the responsibility with which I am entrusted by the public."
I will never set foot in this pharmacy and intend to report these actions to the American Pharmacy Association and the State of Louisiana. Maybe these actions will help this pharmacist will remember why he became a pharmacist in the first place.
Fortunately for me, after calling about 15 other pharmacies, I was able to locate my needed pain medication at another pharmacy and will continue to use them in the future for all of my prescriptions. I would suggest if you are considering using this pharmacy, that you choose another. If you email me, I will share who I used and was so helpful in my painful situation, or you can look for my other reviews and read the positive pharmacy review that I will be typing as soon as I finish this one...
I wish you all a Happly Holiday season and hope that the pharmacist at Bordelon Pharmacy will learn the meaning of Christmas this year. read more
