This branch of Boots is a huge store, so large in fact it stretches between the Eldon Square bus station part, which includes a Poundland, Waitrose, Starbucks, John Lewis and Pizza Express and the main part of the shopping centre, you can get between the two via steps.
I called in here on two occasions, once to each end of the store mainly to pick up drinks, overall the drink selection was good however at the other end of the store, down the escalators away from the main shop floor, the drink selection was highly poor with only Coca Cola and Diet Coca Cola stocked at £1.37 each or two for £2, this offer was unmarked yet it is the same offer from rival retailer Superdrug, who have a branch in Newcastle city centre, not really close by but within walking distance of course.
The confusing layout of the store also is frustrating and could also lead to forcing people to go in and out of the store while shopping, especially if one struggles with steps and escalators, such as wheelchair users and the elderly.
The staff didn't seem too friendly either, just average, a little robotic perhaps.
The overall layout of the store was a typical Boots, it is set out a little bit like a department store in ways with many stalls from designer and high-end brands in the main part of the store, however despite walking around that bit as well, I was not welcomed either which makes me wonder if Boots even greet or welcome their customers, this was a real shame. The size of the store and selection is good enough to warrant two stars, albeit not throughout the store and the confusing layout and poor service for me sadly makes it hard to give this branch anything more than two stars. read more
