Boots is owned by Walgreens Boots Alliance WBA. So employees under WBA get discounts at stores under that umbrella. However I did not get my employee discount when I shopped here for some everyday essentials. I was very disappointed but also nerdy excited about seeing a Boots in person. read more

Was staying in a terrible Covent Garden hotel which had no toiletries at all and needed to buy some shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. They had a decent section of travel sized toiletries to choose from. For an American this store is like Sephora downstairs and CVS upstairs - pretty great! Went inside the Oxford Street store to purchase some Motrin (ibuprofen). The pharmacy was up on the second floor. I connected with the pharmacist who asked me what medication I was taking. I told her but also explained I was a cardiologist and routinely take Motrin. She felt the need to consult with the head pharmacist and returned to tell me she cannot s any because of an increased risk. This was rather absurd since the drug is OTC. I went next-door to a souvenir shop and got what I needed. It's one thing for a pharmacist or pharmacy technician to ensure that you're not embarking on a potentially dangerous drug-drug interaction, but it's entirely another to tell a customer that the drugstore is not willing to sell you an over-the-counter medication without any reason at all. read more

I love Boots! The displays always look very nice, the lighting is good, and the fonts they use at Boots is quite appealing. There's something about UK drugstores that I really like. This one is not that big (as are most drugstores in London) but it has a lot of the basic supplies that you'd want. There are even some self checkouts in the front, which I don't see too often in the American drugstores. I got a cool box of bandages for about 3 pounds. read more

I forgot my alcohol pads for my injectable medication. Went here to buy some. No alcohol pads available as they ran out. Surprised that a pharmacy doesn't keep a steady stock of alcohol pads for those that need them. Boots is good for other things, but for medical supplies, this branch is lacking. read more

Skin cream... deodorant... cough medicine... AND THE BEST SANDWICH DEAL ON THE HIGH STREET!!!!! Yup, that's right, I hereby award innocuous chain chemist Boots as trumper of all high street sandwich shops for the best sandwich deal - comprising sarnie, drink and snack - on the grounds of health, value, and choice. Let's start with the sandwich itself. Well, I say sandwich, but in fact you can have a salad or pasta salad instead. But sticking with the sandwiches, what I like so much about the Boots sandwiches is that it's clear that a lot of thought has gone into making them as healthy as possible, or as least unhealthy as possible. I'm talking here of saturated fat, sugar and above all salt content. Forgive the nutritional nerd in me when I say that your average sarnie has 2 grams of salt in it, i.e. a third of the maximum recommended intake of salt per day. Quite a few sarnies from other vendors - you know, the ones with red banners claiming 'all natural' ingredients and implying their food is 'ready to eat', or those trumpeting their adherence to a 'Plan A' - have more salt than that. Not so Boots, where it's possible to find sarnies with less than a gram of salt in them. Very impressive. It's the same story on saturated fats and sugar, which are also a good idea to limit. Sure, one could make the criticism that Boots' sandwiches are relatively limited in range, but when they're as healthy as they are, I'm happy to work with that. Next, the drink, which can be selected from a wide range of water, juices and milkshakes. Most significant is these include 250 ml bottles of Innocent smoothies - yum yum yum. Last, the snack, which can be picked from a whole aisle of sweet and savoury items: yogurts, chocolate, fruit, fruit/snack bars, nuts and raisins... And finally, value. The price charged for a decent, healthy sandwich, a £2 Innocent smoothie and your choice of snack? A scarcely believable £3.79! Just... incredible, particularly when you consider you'd be charged almost double that at one of the more recognisable sandwich chains. Need lunch but don't want to break the bank or eat unhealthily? I've visited boots during a recent stay over the holidays and london. It's a chain pharmacy/convenience store with larger and smaller stores all over the city. Some of the smaller stores don't carry nearly as many items so you can call before you go in to make sure they have the product that you want. For example, I was looking for enemas, and that was difficult to find in all of london , i don't know exactly why. The staff member who assisted me was quite friendly and took effort in locating the product, even going behind the front desk to look in the back, and he was able to procure a single bottle of the enema formulation much to my great relief, as I was expecting A gentleman caller later in the day, and always follow the boys got code of, "be prepared."Well now I have the preparation for it! One small note though staff doesn't always seem to know their own inventory because the gentleman could not locate something and claimed it was not in their inventory and I was able to find it. Think of that! But his determination to locate this said critical bottle for personal hygiene more than made up for this over site. Cheers! read more
