Awful branch & even more appaling service. Unique staff Culture & micro-environment, unique to this specific branch. The staff are for the most part pretentious and stuck up (unwarranted as they are for the most part clearly working class Glaswegians) & completely forgetful to boot (no pun intended).
On two occasions I have ordered a prescription & on both those occasions this branch had had problems getting my prescription on the grounds it is regarded a "Special" cream (not immediately available in store).
On one occasion they could not even spell my very plain sounding name on the system correctly (which lead to them suggesting perhaps I had somehow absent mindedly placed my order with a different branch, no I had not.
It took them over an hour to find my script due to them incorrectly placing it on their internal system due to them mis-spelling my name.
On the second occasion I had to wait 9 days (chasing up what had happened to my script on the 7th day) & was told that they had simply given up on the process of ordering the script in the very day I had first walked in the branch with that exact script, due to the Hospital it was requested to come from being out of stock of the item - well bloody well have some internal system to try again & NOT leave a patient hanging on for a week believing the script was being authorised whilst in effect doing exactly nothing about it five minutes after the patient/ customer leaves the store & then admittedly waiting 7 days for the customer to chase up what has happened to the prescription, before finally finding the impetus to have a second try on there internal prescription ordering system) & in the process letting the customers existing supply of the requested medication run out causing a break in treatment.
Add to that, that when I went in on the seventh day which resulted in them finally following the correct procedure to fulfil the order cycle they then refused to leave me a voicemail to let me know my order had finally arrived (which I found out when I went back in the 10th day) as I had given them my mobile number & they only THEN expressed shop policy prevented them from being able to leave a message on an 07 mobile number to due concerns they might leave confidential medical information on the voicemail system of a mobile device which has the potential to be stolen.
Funny how any other branch of Boots never has any problem with doing something so basic.
The clearly nouveau riche Male in charge of (at least) the Pharmacy aspect of the store clearly has a severe speech impediment & whilst I partially sympathise with that I don't necessarily believe such a condition easily lends itself to being in a key customer service role in a fast paced retail environment
However, sympathy with a staff members health condition in no way negates from his (and other staff members) pretentiousness or their apparent lack of ability in identifying & engaging the correct order chain mechanism, pertaining to fulfilment of an out of stock prescription item or collective staff ability to engage appropriately with a customer in the basis of the customer having a social housing address.
I also fail to see how it is even possible for a another member of staff to blatantly walk around with a bubble perm (in a seemingly totally un-ironic manner) and apparently be totally oblivious to the fact it is not 1987! Surely someone like that (if not restricted to backroom duties), should be 'hidden away' in a more provincial branch (well away from the West End), where such a unique choice of [cough] 'fashion' aesthetic would be more appreciated in 2016 (such as Boots, in Paisley or an environment more appropriate like that).
Since when did we in Scotland prescribe to judging someone using the cultural judgements of the English based class system in a professional setting, merely because a well spoken customer has a social housing address? Overall absolutely farcical & appalling levels of (non existent) customer service from the staff at this store.
I won't risk ordering a third prescription from this store as I have now lost all confidence in the staff's ability to correctly manage whatever internal prescription order chain system they are officially supposed to follow.
The staff at Byres Road and Broomhill are so much more eloquent & nicer to deal with despite those branches being located in much more aspirational & desirous parts of the west end than Dumbarton Road. read more
