But don't let that put you off - they have everything your traveller or commuter could need. I've popped in here countless times for travel sickness tablets, panadol, nail polish, water, gaviscon (reflux is so sexy right now), snack - you name it, I've probably been here to buy it It's a small store but there's a pharmacy counter, makeup, food and lots of other travel essentials. They manage to fit a lot in to this shop, hence the 4-stars.

This in part may be because the manager hides in the little office with the door closed rather than watching out for thieves. I made the mistake of coming in today to buy a razor. I produced my University work pass to redeem the 10% discount. The assistant took the ID to the little office where they excitedly looked over it and returned to decline the discount (with glee i might add.) At which point I produced a valid Totum card (Valid to November 2024) and again it was declined. They had judged me solely based on my age as not being a student. The staffs time would be better served challenging the many shoplifters rather than challenging over a 50p discount. a dreadful lack of judgement and customer service.

I prefer this branch for said meal deal because it is super handy and the food area is all of three steps away when you step through the door. However, lately I have actually been in here to purchase other non-consumable (well, meal deal consumable) items such as tights, batteries, makeup remover wipes and travel sickness pills (I do realise these are consumable, hence the earlier brackets). Needless to say, I have not been as impressed as I had been on previous occasions. About two weekends before Christmas I was going down to Oxford with my friend for a secret weekend to escape Glasgow pre-Christmas madness. The day before heading off, I popped in here to quickly pick up travel sickness pills (we decided for some stupid reason to book the nine hour bus journey). It wasn't busy but it took me a good five minutes to attract the attention of a member of staff. She looked me up and down in a suspicious manner and informed me 'that medication' was kept behind the counter 'ONLY'. After following her and waiting till she was safely behind the counter, she then started asking questions about my 'usual brand'. I responded that this trip was a one off and I only needed a cheap packet. She seemed to visibly snort, shudder and give me another unpleasant look before finally finishing the transaction and leaving me to trot quickly to the nearest exit. Fair enough, this is the worst example but still the last few times haven't been entirely pleasant. So, the three stars are really only for grabbing a quick meal deal and getting toiletry supplies when need be. If you can, make a point of going elsewhere, even to another Boots branch.

We popped in here on our way to lunch and were immediately greeted by the most friendly man (possibly the pharmacist) who helped up choose what was needed. Not looking to make a quick buck, but seemingly more interested in our well being and how much we spent, he pulled down three options of salve and told us the price on all of them. We chose the one we wanted, paid and were on our way. Before leaving though, the cheery guy thanked us, wished us well and hoped for our return soon. Jeez, if all shop staff were this friendly, the world would be such a better place. This place is the best.

There's more available for sale too - vitamins and first aid items, as well as some cosmetics and toiletries. You're not going to find a Benefit counter here, but if you're just after some nail polish remover or something they can manage that. They do also have a few accessories and other bits and pieces.

They do have a really good variety of products, and this store in particular is a good size. Given its location though, near a Semi Chem (cheap), Lush (pricy but EPIC) and a Boots (expensive and reliable) I'm not sure what sort of place there is for this store, though I suspect it is most popular with females. Pricewise though, this place is really good and at the end of the day, that's what it will come down to for most people, myself included, which is why I would rather go to Semi-Chem.

Painted deep green, it's reminiscent of traditional pharmacies - somehow this is a selling point for me. Always very friendly, I sometimes get the impression that they're really pleased you've chosen to go to them and not the Boots two doors up. The pharmacists are really helpful - and happy to talk to you about bee stings (I know that one from experience, but I assume they're happy to talk to you about other ailments as well!). They even have a tiny little room that you can go in to talk to them if you'd like a bit of privacy. It has a good selection of lotions and potions, and they've always had my prescription in. They also have all sorts of shampoos and hair products, including women's and men's hair colourant. They have quite a lot of things on sale to distract you while you're waiting for your prescription - including displays of Maxfactor and Rimmel make-up. They usually have a basket of reduced or even half price make-up items - and I can never resist a rummage. This is precisely why I am wearing bright red lipstick as I type - £3.99 for Maxfactor lipstick. Ladies, it doesn't get much better than that.

I would normally pick up painkillers from the nearby Tesco or Co-Op but was in need of something a bit more substantial last week and picked up some over the counter medicine in here that sorted me out. They also do prescriptions and are open on Sundays which is decent. Friendly wee place.

Located not 100 yards away from Herr Tesco, the Maryhill pharmacy looks to be doing a fine trade in all things pharmaceutical in nature.....ok, they may have the edge on Tesco in being able to actually hand out prescriptions, and given that there is a drug addiction drop in centre just up the road, but hey, you can only play to your strengths! Anyway, if you don't fancy blustering your way through the silly big tesco with its cues, dogs and resident nutters, then this my friend is your place.

I was able to ask the pharmacist a bunch or questions and they recommended something for the member of my group that would work perfectly. They were patient, friendly, and made sure I had the answers and medicine that was needed. I find this kind of hospitality seriously lacking in retail in general. People could learn from the folks at this Boots pharmacy. Aside from the excellent pharmacy, this Boots is enormous, well stocked and unlike a lot other Boots I have been to, it is all on one floor, so finding things does not require trips up and down escalators.

During the Christmas period a large section of the store is given over to selling gifts and toys. There's also a pharmacy and a photo-lab. The only problem is that I find the store quite tricky to navigate. I'm not sure if they mvoe things around a lot, or if I just have a poor sense of direction, but it always takes me ages to find what I want. They'll definitely have it in stock, I just won't know where to look for it. Perhaps the different sections could be better sign posted.
