On our way through Van Horn, TX we found this little sandwich spot. We ordered a turkey sandwich and a turkey wrap. The sandwiches were okay. The stars of this stop were the Matcha latte and Coffee latte. They use coffee from Big Bend roaster. I ordered it with whole milk and no sweetener and it was rich, smooth and perfect. For the matcha latte they use Matcha Love powder. This latte was exceptional! Silky smooth, dreamy consistency and perfect. Definitely stop for the drinks! This spot was popping when when came by for some desert after getting steaks next door. Great ice cream flavors in fresh made waffle cones. what more could you want? Well I think they have a whole lunch menu too, but I didn't try it. Maybe next time I roll through town. My husband and I stopped in Van Horn for a late lunch as we were driving from New Mexico to San Antonio, TX. Boot's and Scoops Cafe had good review, albeit, only by 2 people. On the plus side, they advertise ice cream and shakes. With the crazy hot weather, it was very enticing. We were in the middle of nowhere and good eateries are slim pickings. We arrived 10 minutes prior to the cafe's scheduled closing. We were greeted upon entry and offered menus. You place your order and sit down in the dining room and the food are brought out to you. There is a station for you to help yourself to plastic ware, napkins, lids, and straws. We ordered the Today's Special: Hot Roast Beef Sandwich on Ciabatta, lettuce, tomato and Mayo. One side is included with the order. We selected kettle chips. My husband ordered sweet tea and I stuck with water for our drinks. Surprisingly, it took a longer than I had expected for our sandwiches to arrive. However, the sandwiches were delicious. Very tasty roast beef on toasted Ciabatta bread that is slightly crusty on the outside but soft on the inside. The kettle chips was basic chips from a bag. A small 1/2 wedge of cantaloupe was include which added a little color and freshness to the order. A small wedge of pickle was also included but neither my husband nor I touched it. We were actually full from the Sandwich and chips. The sweet tea was fresh and my husband enjoyed it. I had originally planning to have some coconut ice cream as a dessert but I was actually full and the ice cream containers looked like they have been there for a while so I was not tempted. I decided to skip the ice cream. Lastly, we used the restroom prior to departing since we still had quite a drive ahead of us. My husband said his experience was okay but mine was less appealing since the toilet seat was wet and I had to clean/dry it prior to using it. read more

I have eaten here several times and I have never been disappointed. I have not ever had ice cream here, but I hear it's good also. I have had a few sandwiches and a beef brisket taco salad, which was awesome. I suggest that if you want a light lunch, try this little place. You will not be disappointed! read more

I came in purely for the ice cream, but I'll definitely have to check out the actual food next time I come in. It's in all the other reviews but they' really are super nice and hospitable. Lots of interesting ice cream flavors, that you get to test try. I decided to try the banana pudding as well as the Bailey's peanut butter one. The banana pudding had great banana flavor, but I was promised that I'd want the Bailey's once I tried it. It absolutely did not disappoint. Great complex flavor as soon as I tried it, so I caved in on the spot and immediately asked for a waffle cone full of it. The scoops are big and it's a great price. I planned to eat it on the way out of town, unfortunately I didn't make it out of the parking lot before I finished it all. Definitely a must stop location. read more

Our group of four all ordered something different but they brought out one wrong and I had to ask for my drink twice also. The food was all tasty and portions were good. This place is a hidden gem in practically the middle of nowhere! The restaurant is only open for lunch (opens at 11am) while their ice cream parlor is open longer. I had the veggie sandwich on ciabatta bread with pasta salad, as well as chipotle mayo on the side. It was delicious! Fresh veggies combined with that mayo= heaven! The combo meal was also served with a slice of tasty watermelon. I also loved the southwest decor. Staff was friendly. Clean restroom. read more

Stopped by this cute diner while passing through and so glad we did. It was clean, quiet and cozy. They had many options for meals. We went to have dessert after dinner. The door was locked spoke to the hostess in the restaurant said they were open and he Took us in the side door inside the restaurant. The teens inside had locked the outside door to keep people from coming in. They were out of birthday party and brownie bliss. When asked what was available we were told only ice cream. The ice cream was great however the service that daywas not as good! The girl at the counter told the teens inside to go and unlock the door. This is a hidden gem in a town where almost every restaurant is Mexican food. They have a wide variety of sandwiches and soup of the day. There also is an ice cream bar with many flavors, plus milkshakes and malts. A big plus is that this restaurant is clean! read more

My hubby and I are staying at the Hotel El Capitan and we were steered in the direction of this adorable and absolutely delicious cafe because we wanted delivery. I use the word "adorable" because they used their adorable label with the cutest boots on each of our styrofoam containers to let us know what deliciousness awaited our palates inside. Oh! My family and I walk here at least once a week. The staff is so kind to my daughter. I really appreciate them and am sure that any customer will have a great experience with the staff. The ice cream is good and well priced. The only question is they have glass dividers between the booths; one appears to show a suicidal Native American. I'd love to hear what it actually is. read more
