Bathroom

Outdated hotel with room in need of upkeep/maintenance. Bathroom ceiling tile had water damage (simple fix), but obviously management doesn't care enough. Hall carpet is worn and dirty. The view is the only star booster.

Picture from footbridge

We did a wades tour that stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Building & rooms were kinda old, BUT the location right by the footbridge & the dinners each night were AMAZING!!!! Warm, huge chocolate chip cookies waiting for us when we arrived, bags taken to your room by the staff. We didn't get this, but other tour members got a room facing the bay w Adirondack chairs. So pretty & relaxing!

The hotel is truly waterfront.

Impeccably clean hotel. It is not fancy, but it is really clean. I have to commend the lady I said good morning to who is in charge of the cleaning the rooms. The views are pretty but note that it is on the other side of the harbor, so you see the main drag. However, the hotel is right next to the old famous footbridge, just a short walk to everything. The rooms are very reasonably priced and the people who worked there were very polite. Skip the free continental breakfast. Seemed a bit day old plus no protein that you usually see at these types of meals (e.g. boiled eggs, yogurt, peanut butter, etc.)

Food was great a bit over priced compared to other restaurants in the area. Great service.

Meh. It's was just ok in my opinion…read more My wife kind of wanted it to be more than it was, but it was pretty lackluster if you ask me. I do not care to know what she spent for our nights accommodation. There is nothing that bad about the place, it's just a bit old. I just prefer newer hotels. The room was freaking huge! Not sure why it would be so big. The amenities were fine, just older. I was also in a funky ass mood while we were here. Even dinner was a shit show. Probably fucked that up due to my mood, but she is cool with my weird ass after all these years. It was terribly windy, like cut through you windy, and about 45 degrees, C wants to explore so guess what we did? LOL. I had such a nice windy stroll around the grounds. There are lots of places to explore around the place though. Don't let my cynicism ruin it for you. They have an activity center with video games, board games, and some TV's with kids videos and stuff like that. They have a fire pit that you can use and I think they do a dinner or something out there. They have a pool that is pretty nice. Sunrises are pretty rad here. I will admit that. Like really rad! I guess it wasn't that bad. It's just A-Ok! '26 - 38

I never saw anyone who worked at the resort at either of the pools for the three days we were there. Cabins are in sad shape, our toilet seat was broken, hair on the bathroom floor, and the thing that made us check out in the middle of our second night- Mice That was an instant we are out of here. I get that the cabins are old but nope. I would stay again but in one of the new townhome buildings.

Nostalgic...what a cute "retro" motel! Simply charming!…read more Built, owned and operated by the Lewis family. When the family opened the motel in 1955 it was the region's first! Tim Lewis (the current owner) is the sweetest man. He is wonderful, down to earth, kind, honest, welcoming, helpful and very informative. From the time you show up he makes you feel like you've known each other forever and treats you like you're an old friend visiting. He sets the tone for you to have the most wonderful and comfortable stay you can possibly have. We simply loved the retro décor with the knotty pine paneling and handmade wooden furniture from the 50's. He has updated with TV's, cable, and Wi-Fi, but aside from that most décor and the bathrooms remain the same...it's pretty cool actually. I really liked having a screen door on our room too...how cool is that? Moreover, the motel is clean and he keeps the grounds immaculate. Since this is an older motel, you may notice some of "accessories" missing from a more modern motel. The rooms are smaller, so they can't accommodate some of those "things". If there is something you need or desire...just ask. I think you'd be surprised at what he has on hand. The motel is located in the perfect area/location. You are a short walk from the downtown area, yet far enough away not to have a lot of noise. You can absolutely walk everywhere once you are there. The motel is very reasonably priced for the area and does not include breakfast. Tim can make some great suggestions, but please don't worry...restaurants are literally a 5 minute walk away or less. Speaking of suggestions...if you need ideas or information on anything in the area or Maine in general ask Tim...he is simply a wealth of information and ideas. We actually altered our personal itinerary to add a few things after chatting with him. He travels a lot, so he has information on a lot more too, but that's another story. If you are looking for luxury accommodations, a more modernized place with all the bells & whistles, etc....this isn't it. If you are looking for something different, out of the norm, or maybe a trip down memory lane and/or just want an overall great stay with a good night's rest in a comfortable room...this is your place! I would recommend staying here 110%! End Note: When we left I/we felt sad and we only stayed a few days. Tim was so kind that it was like leaving a dear friend or family behind. I hope we get a chance to visit again one day, but in the meantime all I can do is recommend it to you... {17 - pictures & video clip posted}
