I am a licensed family attorney and a clinical psychologist, so my standards for a child-centered, qualified preschool for my 2 kids were admittedly very high. Boostan Kids has met and exceeded everything I ever wanted for my children. I have one child who is very precocious and one child who has special needs. They have worked with me in an extraordinarily sensitive way to make sure their needs for socialization, emotional development, executive function, play, and nutrition are met in every way.
The staff is warm, nurturing, and highly qualified and it shows! One day, at pickup, I saw a 3 year old girl running with a sharp stick. A teacher asked her to slow down and hand over the stick. But it didn't stop there. The teacher got down to her level, and in a calm and loving pace, asked the girl to consider *why* she was being asked not to run with the stick. Together they examined the shape and hardness of the stick to determine that it is dangerous to run with a sharp item.
My kids have *scary* levels of critical thinking for their ages. Seriously. While I'd love to take all the credit and say it's because of my perfect parenting, I know it's because of the thoughtful approaches of prioritizing thinking that Boostan embodies.
Even more so, the teachers are genuinely loving human beings. When our entire family was out with covid, one of actually dove to our house to bring over gourmet homemade food! Which is the other incredible thing about this school: the kids enjoy homemade, organic, global cuisines every day, served family-style. My kids have learned table manners and sharing and are not picky eaters at all. I can take them to restaurants and they know how to behave and eat cleanly. I know they learned this at Boostan because I am too burnt out to practice it at home.
Finally, I looked into the 1-star review, below by NN and got the backstory. I encourage any mother who is curious about it to contact the school directly. In this current climate, ANY exceptional school is still likely to get one crackpot, vindictive parent who is disgruntled and chooses to try to take the school down. It's such a shame that these tactics can be so powerful. (I also believe the other 1-star review was "farmed" by her. It's one thing to have an unhappy experience, it's another to try to ruin a wonderful small business.)
Our persian community in the peninsula is not strong in numbers but it is strong in heart and sophistication. Boostan Kids is part of the beating heart of the persian parent community in the peninsula. My partner and I are beyond thrilled to have been able to give our 2 kids the gift of being there every day during their most formative years. We have no doubt that the benefits of their experiences will follow them through their childhoods and beyond. read more
