Whatever you do stay FAR, FAR AWAY from this woman and her company. She and her associate Courtney…read morehave consistently lied and harassed our family. She was the listing agent on a home we attempted to purchase (we ultimately purchased a similar home at a similar price point). During the buying process her associate Bonnie was demeaning to our military service and income, and refused to show us homes that would've been a better fit, instead pushing us to this home so Laura could get the sale. During the buying process we rented the home we intended to purchase, but when it fell through the problems started. As an aside, the home was poorly built. For being nearly brand new, it had numerous problems from shoddy construction. Laura was not the property manager, but certainly threatened us as if she were. She and her associate Courtney showed up at the home unannounced repeatedly (per security camera footage), and would knock on the door at length. While trying to recover from surgery, her company disturbed me repeatedly. After the home sold to another unsuspecting family, she has continued her harassment. The home was sold and closed BEFORE we moved out of the home, so per the lease the security deposit and move out inspection was to transfer to and occur with the new owners, yet Laura DID NOT follow what was clearly written in a signed legal document. Furthermore the lease said the home was to be "broom clean" on move out. Despite this, we hired professional cleaners who professionally cleaned the entire house top to bottom, including the carpets, which was very expensive and took hours. Laura had to audacity to say the home hadn't been cleaned (the proof is in the receipt). Additionally she is trying to claim that ordinary wear and tear (ie nail holes from the normal hanging of artwork) is excessive so she can keep more of our deposit. She also threatened to hold our security deposit is we did not return gifts from the owners. When we moved into the home the previous owners had left abandoned property (an old, outdated TV and treadmill), and asked if we wanted it. We said sure, and these items were left in the home for us. It was not part of the purchase agreement that these items conveyed, they were just left behind/gifts and was in a written email that the items were being given to us with no strings, yet now this woman is harassing us saying we must return these items. She has on several occasions threatened to withhold our security deposit (which actually should have been transferred to the new owners). A month later we still have not received our security deposit ($4400) back, but since she is NOT the property manager she should have nothing to do with the security deposit. She has broken numerous codes per Title 8, but it doesn't seem to matter that she usually unscrupulous means to accomplish her goals for the sellers. In fact, her associate Courtney put in writing that they are NOT the property managers and have nothing to do with the security deposit, yet Laura continues to threaten to withhold it from us. She has also on multiple occasions lied and made up things/demands that have to legal or written backing. Thank goodness for massive help from the Maryland Office of the Attorney General and 2010 Maryland Code REAL PROPERTY TITLE 8 - LANDLORD AND TENANT. Otherwise we would not know which rights and rules had been broken by her and her company. She is predatory. Think long and hard about hiring her, because if she would treat a military family with two young children like this, is she really the kind of woman you want selling your home or helping you find a new one? After dealing with the poor ethics and web of lies from Remax and this woman, I wouldn't recommended her to my worst enemy. If you are on her side, I think everything is fine and dandy, but if you are not, watch out. Thank goodness there are good people with strong morals who uphold the principles of ethics out there (Like Exit 1 Stop Realty), but sadly Laura is not one of them.
