When you're on your way to Missouri especially to St. Louis or back you can't help but to stop at this place called BloomLand... this place I believe he has fireworks for sale year round...the corner store has a McDonald's ...gas...a huge, gigantic souvenir shop with anything imaginable inside... also a snack bar that serves burgers, hotdogs, popcorn, ice cream, drinks and anything in between... this is kind of a one stop shop for everything right off the road you want...a place to go sit, relax, catch your breath and buy some things. My husband (then boyfriend) and I went on a mini roadtrip from STL down to NOLA in 2018. We stayed with friends in STL who told us on our way to our next stop in Memphis, we should definitely stop at Boomland. We shrugged it off, as we were on a bit of a time constraint. That was, until we were on the highway and every few miles there were billboards that said "X MILES UNTIL BOOMLAND!" By the time we got to the actual exit, we were SO curious, we just HAD to stop, lol! Being from NJ, the concept of a fireworks store attached to a gas station attached to a McDonald's was almost too much to handle, but to be honest, it was pretty amazing, and definitely not something you see everyday. What a fun little pit stop. We loved it so much, we even got hats! 10/10 would recommend stopping here. So glad we did! read more

Such a neat place to walk around and look at an array of merchandise. To actually buy any of it is another story. The prices are ridiculous. I'm not sure who actually buys anything or how much they sell, but it's nice to walk around and look at the stuff. The Blue Bunny ice cream is good. read more

Boomland is such a fun place to get lost in the shopping zone. They have tons of unique items. Prices are reasonable. Whether you are looking for jewelry, t shirts, gadgets, toys, or fantastic and unusual food items (pickled quail eggs, what?), this place will not disappoint. And if you are in the mood for hot dogs, chili or something along those lines, belly up to the food bar. If you haven't been to a Boomland, I totally recommend you give it a try! read more

This store has a ton of choices of food and clothing. I like that the fountain sodas are just one dollar. That is very convenient for me, so I can just pay with a dollar and get no change back They also have very nice employees. Stopped here on a recent road trip twice. Going and on the return trip. This is a huge complex - convenience store - fuel stop and McDonald's. The restrooms were impeccably clean. The woman working and mopping the floors had a smile on her face and was engaging to speak to and she had a smile on her face. Getting service at the McDonald's was quick and consistent. What I found most entertaining and interesting was the group of community woman playing BINGO in the McDonald's at 9:30 in the morning on a Thursday. Definitely not seen everyday. As for Boomland, it had a huge selection of items. On my second trip I picked up the last package of Dolly Madison crumb covered mini donuts. The clerks working the counter give the experience a local flavor. If you are into regional trinkets - you could get yourself a coffee mug or thimble or other touristy gift. Also it's a place to buy fireworks. I enjoyed my two stops at Boomland, for its clean restrooms, ease of purchasing fuel, and road trip food. In the travel wasteland that is the Bootheel of Missouri this is one of my favorite stopping places for gas on the way south to NOLA (or on the way home FROM NOLA). It reminds me of the old Stuckies that had all manner of road snacks and crap. I don't know what happened in Boomland, but something is not as right as it used to be. On a cross country road trip a few years ago, I drove through Boomland and found it to be a nice diverse land, with yes Fireworks, and odd cheap gifts, a shelves and shelves stocked with weird road snacks, "gourmet" foods, and lotto tickets. I passed through this past holiday and Boomland has really slipped. The shelves were barren, the magnet wall was barely magnetic, and they didn't even have all the years in the those country almanac booklets. The gits were all either cheap but not inexpensive plastic figurines of Native American Scnenery or Black Mammie Cooks, and weird 3D Obama posters. All the irony and fun of Boomland has now left, probably for Love's. They need a new major! read more

The store is good for fireworks and seasonings that you can't find anywhere else but when it comes to eating their food don't! The food is horrible the food look like it been sitting there all day mind you it was only 10 am so I order a fresh order of 6 breakfasts from the back and still the food was not good! Every since I first came to BOOMLAND, it has been a favorite place to visit. I can be two hours behind on a road trip and I will still stop by. First things first- this place isn't just fireworks! They have an array of things to distract you from getting back on i55: ice cream, hot sauces, snacks, clothing, cheap jewelry, knives, pickled vegetables & fruits, jams and so many other random items. The "firework store" and the "general store" do not connect. You must choose which one to visit (I vote the firework emporium) first. There are SO many fireworks to choose from! The place seems a bit under-staffed (but hey, what do I know?) so finding a sales associate might be hard if they're already helping another customer. The prices are great, the selection is abundant and they serve jam & hot sauces. What more could one ask for? read more

You plan on filling your vehicle and grabbing a quick snack before getting back on the road then you realize you've been there for almost 2 hours. Every year my brother in law picks up the fireworks for his community to shoot off for the Fourth of July. When I come home from Hawaii we also stop in to shoot fireworks with the family. Boomland is a large store with quite the selection. It does look like there is a lot of wasted space. There could be a ton more inventory. They do not get a ton of customers in the off months. I normally love stopping here at the one in Charleston when we road trip to Michigan. The bathrooms are clean and there are lots of souvenirs and knick-knacks to check out. However, this last time we decided to try the restaurant because we were hungry. We were looking for something quick because we needed to make good time. The signs were very confusing. After a lot of asking around, we realized there was buffet counter where you could serve yourself, a snack counter, and a counter to order something not offered in the buffet. We decided we didn't want the buffet line which was very small and basically fried chicken and mashed potatoes. There were 3 of us and we placed an order for 2 sandwiches and a steak fajita. I asked they could add pickle and onion. It took over 30 minutes to make those 3 things and we had 2 other families that ordered after us get their meals ahead of ours. They charge for refills as well so after 30 minutes we had finished our drinks and had to pay for more. When we finally got ours, we had to hit the road, figuring it probably would have been faster to just get fast food. We hoped the food was worth the wait. It was not. My son's fajitas were chicken and not steak, and he said it tasted gross. My sandwich did not come with the pickle and either the bacon was really chewy or there was some sort of mystery meat on my sandwich. It was supposed to be a turkey club and I couldn't decide what the extra meat was, but if it was the bacon, it was nasty. I was really disappointed with both the service and the poor quality of the food. I ended up just trying to eat it and drive at the same time while also trying to pick the mystery meat out of it. We will be back to browse the gift shop again but never again to eat at the restaurant. read more

Ok so we road tripped from St. Louis to Nola and stopped in Memphis. Our friends in St. Louis said we had to stop at Boomland on our way to Memphis. We thought it sounded silly..... a fireworks place attached to a gas station. What could go wrong?!? As we drove south from STL we passed sign after sign for Boomland by the time we reached the exit the marketing alone could no longer contain my anticipated excitement. I'm from NJ, we have nothing like this. Here's all you need to know about Boomland, I bought every person I ever loved gifts from Boomland (if you're curious that would be myself and my friend Gary and sometimes my fiancé) all said I spent less than $30 on hats and shot glasses and all the things. If there's one regret I didn't actually by anything that went boom! I wasn't sure of missouri firework laws but then as we entered the state of Arkansas on our road trip I realized that Boomland was a fireworks place attached to gas station so Missouri must not have any actual laws. 10/10 would recommend. read more
