Boomers is a great place to take kids for family fun or birthday parties. There are so many activities, but be prepared to spend some money! I was able to find great deals on mini golf and arcade credits through Groupon, which definitely helped. There are tons of fun games, and the kids loved the arcade. They even managed to win prizes from the giant claw machine, which never happens, so that was a big highlight! They also have batting cages and water bumper cars, though the bumper cars were out of commission when we visited. I'd recommend eating beforehand and bringing your own drinks. The food is overpriced and not great quality. That said, the service was very friendly both at the food counter and in the arcade/ticket area. read more

We almost didn't make it here -- and I'm really glad we did. Quick heads up for anyone planning ahead: the hours can be a little misleading. The website will say "open," but weekday hours don't actually start until 2 PM, and that detail is buried further down. We found that out the hard way after finishing up at the pier around 11 and having to completely pivot our plans (including grabbing food elsewhere to hold the kids over). Not a dealbreaker, but definitely something to be aware of if you're visiting from out of town. Once they did open though? Completely different story. We were greeted by Robert -- and honestly, he set the tone for the entire visit. He was the only one up front at first, but you wouldn't have known it based on how smoothly everything went. Friendly, attentive, and actually present. He helped us get set up, handled food, and still managed to keep an eye on everything else going on. And yes -- he made our pizzas fast, gave us a buzzer, and sent us on our way to enjoy the games instead of waiting around. That alone? Huge. We ended up doing the arcade route first, and this is where Boomer's really surprised me. I used a Groupon deal and paid $25 for 100 points, and it just so happened to be one of their half-off arcade days. So instead of games costing 3 points, they were 1.5 -- and the machines actually show you the discount clearly. That's smart business. The card system is also way better than old-school arcades. No paper tickets flying everywhere -- everything loads directly onto the card. And for once, we actually had enough points to get decent prizes. We walked out with a bunch of toys and plushies instead of the usual "you can afford a sticker and a piece of candy" situation. At one point, my son joked that a game was "rigged," and Robert immediately stepped in -- not in a defensive way, but in a "let me make sure this kid is having a good time" way. He showed him how the game worked, pointed out that he had already won multiple times, and turned it into a funny, reassuring moment instead of letting frustration build. That kind of attentiveness stands out. We also tried the go-karts (paid separately), and I'll say this: if you're even considering it, just go for the unlimited option. One round was enough to realize we wanted to get right back in line. The kids had a blast, and even with one riding with me, it was still a great experience. We ended up spending about 2.5 to 3 hours here between food, games, and rides -- and overall spent around $100. For everything we did, that's actually a really solid value. Especially compared to places like Scandia, where you can easily drop $200 without blinking. There was also a giant claw machine with oversized bouncy balls -- both of my boys won on their first try, which felt like a miracle in itself. Staff was GREAT! However, a LOT of TLC should be taken with the grounds. Only 6 of the water bumper boats were available on a Sunday, July 5. There were 7 earlier. The golf courses could use a power blower at the start of the day to remove all the debris. A few of the tee markers could use some repairs. The Arcade was fun. Didn't try the food, but it seemed pretty standard. The male restrooms was a MESS and smelled like a urinal. My niece said the women's restroom wasn't as bad, but could use some attention. Unfortunately, our experience at Boomers today was very disappointing. My boys went to ride the go-karts and were measured and cleared to drive on their first race with no issues. When they returned for a second race, the attendant suddenly told one of my sons he was "too short" and couldn't ride even though he had just finished racing as a solo driver with no problems. My husband asked for clarification, and instead of a reasonable explanation, we were told bluntly that he couldn't ride. We asked for a refund because this was unfair and inconsistent with the rules they had just applied. When the manager came over, things only got worse. He handled the situation very unprofessionally raising his voice, blaming his employee, and making a scene instead of apologizing or simply correcting the issue. After all his yelling, he eventually refunded my husband. We've been coming here for years, even back when it was Camelot and $10 Buck Tuesdays were a thing. But after today's experience, the poor customer service, and the unprofessional management, it's honestly not worth the price anymore. We'd rather drive to Oxnard for Golf N' Stuff, where the staff actually treats guests with respect and consistency. read more

I drive by Boomers in Santa Maria (visible from the 101) at least twice a day, yet it was just recently that I visited for the first time. Our objective was to play Mini-Golf although the establishment has seemingly quite a bit more to offer (Arcade, Batting Cages, Bumper Boats and Go-Karts). Purchase a pass or "pay as you go"...your choice. We payed for the Miniature Golf and spent time in the Arcade after. Overall the Miniature Golf was enjoyable...although it would have been nice to have employees out on the course to help "control" rambunctious teenagers from playing into other Golfers games. The Mini Golf Course(s) (they have 2, you play on one then play the other) look great from afar...but Boomers has been there for awhile and everything needs regular care, repainting and refurbishing...including the courses. In example Disneyland's after closing maintenance. So...dear Yelp Review Readers...enjoy the experience for what it is, but don't look too close. One of the "holes" on Course #1 was flooded with water...that should have been "taken care of" immediately by the Associates that opened, not left for Guests to see. The Arcade is also fine...yet some of the "machines" are old and not working properly or fully functioning (ie: Simpson's Pinball Machine next to the Centipede Arcade Game). Those machine should be refurbished or replaced. In total we spent several hours here and left experiencing a good/satisfactory family experience. Decent place if your kids actually enjoy mini golf. Mine were awful after about the 10th hole but that's on them. The place is decently clean but the mini golf course could use an update as many parts of the course are messed up and don't work right. The food tastes all right but the prices are outrageous. A small soda (and there is only one size in a "souvenir" cup nobody wants) is $7.29 and no refills. A refill is another $3. The Mac b cheese tastes good but it was slammed for $10 and the chicken and fries was also small for $15. Don't come for the food and expect to pay $15.99 per attraction even things they end quickly like go carts and bumper cars. Overall, overpriced and not the great. My grandson had one of the best parties at Boomers! They do so much for you, and they provide so much that you really don't need to buy extra decor.. The one thing is if you book and want to decorate the walls, the tape does not really stick to the wall because it comes right off (water base paint). So a lot of the decorations were a throw away. I suggest putting decor on the table for the theme to your liking. The foods expensive for extra guests. We got the ultimate package and found that to be the best deal. Jessica was our host, and she was great! So, if you are thinking of having a party, I'd say it's definitely worth it for what people buy now a days. The establishment is ok, nothing too exciting but a fun place to get away and do something different in Santa Maria. Go-carts, mini golf, and bumper boats are the main attractions. Unfortunately the low rating is due to false advertising on their hrs of operation. Visiting from out of town I decided to take the family for some afternoon fun at Boomers, look on their website, open until 8pm "new summer hrs". (See pics) Proceed to buy the all day attraction passes at 4:30ish and expect to get 3hrs plus worth of rides and attractions. Nope. Everything closed by 7pm. I ask the employee at the snack bar why is everything closing when we still have until 8pm and she states "no that's when we leave by". Ok, that would of been nice to know before purchasing the pricey passes. Kids were bummed and me not wanting to go all "Karen" in the place decided to reluctantly leave (after having the lights in the arcade turned off on us at 7:20) and the supervisor/manager guy saying that "oh the website just hasn't been updated". Frustrating, but I'll go the high road and just leave this review so at least others won't feel ripped off. Won't be visiting this establishment again anytime soon. read more

I am a simple person. When the gyms are too crowded, all I need is some Dance Dance Revolution to get a good workout in. I live in Grover Beach but I happen to know the two closest DDR machines are in Fresno and here at Boomers in Santa Maria. Usually when I come here, a good number of the machines are out of order. Not gon a lie, going out to Boomers is usually a disappointing excursion unless you go when there is an actual crowd. (I figure it's because they are forced to pay attention to customers when there are so many of them there.) But huzzah, today it looked like the DDR machine and Initial D were working just fine! But then came to actually trying to play... Only one of the card machines was working (or so it appeared) and it was cash only. No big deal, I will just use the ATM right next to it...but then I keep getting an ATM error notice when it tries to process the transaction. This wouldnt have been so bad if the people working at the time weren't so disinterested. They were tucked away in a corner, all talking to each other, most of them had their backs turned to the floor. Like a mentioned earlier, this seems to be a consistent issue unless there is a crowd. Today it was just me and one other family. These people just do not seem interested in my money, so I am probably going to avoid giving it to them for a while. I am glad to upgrade this review two more stars based on a clean and supportive birthday party experience here. There have been times when the Staff is not very friendly, hard to find, and too few to get the job done. Not the case today. Looks like they are improving. They need to work on how long you wait at the counter and offering apologies. Everyone has to wait sometime but it would be great to be acknowledged and to know what their standard is even when they can't measure up from time to time. A simple apology and a smile goes a long way, right? Looks like they have upgraded their putt putt golf courses. Games are still way overpriced and people go to Chuck E Cheese for 25cents a game. Your ball will undoubtedly roll to the edges no matter what you do, in some hole grounds. Maybe some may like the challenge. I get some places purposely bevel around the hole to make it more difficult, but I don't think balls should always be rolling back to the edges. It definitely needs maintenance, if not a "hole" renovation (get it? Instead of "whole"). There's also a lot of leaves on some hole grounds, so the ball will get stuck in the piles. I'll take my leaf blower next time. Some of the staff members could use a refresher on friendly customer service, but at the same time who know what kind of day they've had and what type of customers they've dealt with, so I can't completely blame them. If price and quality were in accordance, I'd give it 3-4 stars because it's a pretty looking place. Regardless, you'll still have fun when you go with friends and family. Arcade is nice. It looks pretty well maintained, and has variety. A mixture of old and new machines. Food court area is nicely maintained and clean. It's a nice place for those that don't want to play (but were forced to go and be social) to hangout there and watch tv while drinking and eating. I will most likely not be back. Brought my daughter here for her birthday, we got the elite passes and were excited to be able to go on everything! Everything was working and fine but unfortunately not one employee seemed happy to be there and had an attitude about everything. Seeming irritated to have to scan cards to have people get on the rides to yelling in an irritated tone "GO" to the people on the go carts that obviously couldn't hear the employee too well because the engines were running. Front desk workers were no where to be found for about 15-20 minutes. If you don't like your job maybe go find something else to do! To the point where I could even tell the children (my own and others around me) could notice how rude and disrespectful the employees were to everyone. Made the experience way less enjoyable and would not recommend coming here expecting your children to feel safe due to employees poor verbal actions and attitudes. Low staffed, so it's disappointing when you buy a 4 hour pass and it takes awhile to be able to ride any attractions because you have one person to 2 rides. What's also disappointing is that half of the go carts and bumpers are down so this increases the wait. Even more disappointing is they have no staff over 21, so parents cannot purchase a beer. Bumper cars are amazingly fun. Recommend getting the year pass $50= unlimited bumper cars + unlimited bumper boats + unlimited golf + unlimited go carts + unlimited rockclimbing. Otherwise it's too expensive to pay for each individually. Mini golf does show somewhere and tear but still fun for the family. Sometimes workers there are a little bit rude - some even punk kids. Some do make an effort to help though. Games inside are very overpriced very easy to blow all your money. I used to love coming to Boomers, I grew up with this place. Every year I'd purchase a seasonal pass for $50 and come here with my friends, family, and boyfriend on special occasions. This place was magical. After the pandemic, it's not the same. There is no more annual pass, but the same price you paid will give you what it gave you, but only for the day. Many of the machines don't work in the arcade and wasted a lot of money on this. It's sad to see how run-down this place has become since the last time I came pre-pandemic. After my experience here today, I can no longer recommend this place to anyone. I hope those in charge find financial relief if the pandemic has caused these unreasonable price changes. Boomers is much better than I remember from 6-10 years ago. The redone mini golf course is beautiful, attractions are great, and arcade is amazing. The only downfall is the lack of employees, but that is the issue at Disneyland, Knotts, and Universal. So we had to wait for a few minutes, but never more than 10. The employees they do have are kind, knowledgeable, and so patient with all the kids running around. Go to boomers instead of the overpriced theme parks. read more

I paid $150 for three kids passes to have unlimited rides and 50 arcade tokens. What a rip off! Most of the rides were not working, only one grandson could ride alone on the go carts and the small go carts were a joke. Only two of those cars were barely working The worst part was teenagers at the go carts kept ramming other cars and the young workers would blow their whistle but not do anything about it.
