This is a cute little bookstore. It's a local favorite for sure! The customer service, however, is a little lacking and they definitely are not very knowledgeable about current authors and books. Their prices are much higher than comparable stores (almost every paperback is $16.00 no matter the size nor suggested retail price). However, some of their books are signed. Their fiction section is sorely lacking but they do have events featuring local authors, which is nice. It seems like they have become more of a gift shop than a bookstore lately. They have quite a large selection of book related gift items like socks and mugs, which are pretty cool! I will definitely be back around Christmas to purchase some of those! Next time I come in hopefully there will be a better selection of fiction novels for the typical retail prices.

Had a great time tonight with Bob odenkirk. His book a load of hooey. He was doing a autograph signing for his book. Rhea seehorn was there also, and Michael Mando. All three actors we're reading things that they liked from their favorite books. After the book signing they were signing photos for a donation for a charity. Had a great time how could do this again soon.

If you like books and you do not mind clutter you will be at home here. This is one of the last remaining independent bookshops left in Albuquerque. They sell new books for adults and children along with other odds and ends such as calendars, toys, cards, music CD's. The variety of books covers a bit of everything, but there is not enough depth to be very helpful. They charge full price for the books, rarely a discount here. While other places put there calendars on sale right after New Year's day, not here, not until February. You are far better off to shop someplace else with greater selection and greater discounts. The store is pretty small and there are way too many books. There are piles of books everywhere. This place defines the word clutter. This place is a fire trap and a lawyers dream with potential accidents lurking around every corner. They have so many books that they drag them out every morning and take them in every night from the front porch. I feel sorry for the poor minimum wage staff that have to do this insane task. They really need to have a deep discount sale and just get rid of the old stock cluttering up everything. Maybe donate what they can't peddle to the Friends of the Library Charity. That would be nice. The staff experience varies from kinda friendly and helpful to rude and snooty. Most of the staff are not helpful and generally just ignore you. If you ask them a question they are very vague and the majority of the time the book you want is not in stock and they have to order it. Sometimes there is hardly any staff around, while at other times they are on top of you like a cat on a rat. They often have visiting authors do book signings which can be fun, but the place is just way too small for it to be enjoyable. People get packed in like sardines and you cannot even see the author. Refreshments are sometimes served and consist of whatever is cheap like cookies in a tin and a beverage of water. This place either needs to close up shop or move to a larger space where things can spread out and patrons can free themselves from bumping into shelves and having piles of books fall on them. Ok, but I have seen far better book shops. Do yourself a big favor and skip it.

Best bookstore in town and a nice little alternative to the big box stores. A gem that deserves our support.

This is a great bookshop, among the best in Albuquerque. Definitely worth regular visits. I love…read moreit. I don't feel, however, that I can recommend that anyone sell books to them. They offer a pittance. It is really insulting, actually. A couple of years ago, I brought a couple of boxes of books to them (the kinds of books you routinely see on their shelves, so nothing strange) and accepted their offer out of what I later came to see as a misplaced sense of politeness: their offer had left me so stunned that I just went along with the whole thing and accepted it. Almost immediately I felt ripped off, taken advantage of. Later, I had to go through and clear out a dead relative's library. It took a long time to sort through, but at the end of the day I had around 40 boxes of books. I'd taken out the valuable things to sell online, I admit, as you should never sell the really valuable things to a used bookstore when it's easy enough to do so online. These were things like signed first editions and presentation copies and other rare books. There were a few boxes of those. There were also about 15 boxes of books that would have gone down well at Page 1, given what I know of what they have on their shelves. And the rest were rather more obscure. But I remembered how I had felt a couple of years ago when I had sold books to Page 1, and I decided simply to give all of the dead relative's books, minus the particularly valuable ones, to the public library. They always benefit from selling them, and I felt I'd done something good toward protecting one of the few remaining institutions that is still a purely public good. So, while technically I didn't get any money, I ended up feeling better, cleaner. Thank God for our public libraries! You should of course do what you want, but, when you take a box of books into Page 1 and inevitably feel horrified and sullied by the humiliating price they offer you--perhaps thinking you'd get more out of the books by burning them in your fireplace in winter to save on heating costs--, remember that you can just say "no" and instead donate them to the library and help make the world a better place for everyone.

I used to love bookstores. I Lurked in them all the time. But between digital books, storage issues…read moreand living on an Island I sort of got out of the habbit. I've been trying to do more bookstore lurking since I moveed here but there aren't that many good stores here. I love the Friends of the Library way up in Rio Rancho but that's a long drive. But I had a doctor appointment which happened to be a block from here so I checked it out. The first thing is that you know this is a book lovers book store with staff favorites right in the front. The main thing is how many stacks and categories they have. If you're looking for books about NM and the South West they have multiple shelves. But they also have tons of speciality shelves like Pulp Fiction and Romantasy. It's a great place to spend hours lurtking the stacks. I've been twice since I discovered it.

The staff at Barnes & Noble Booksellers was very helpful on November 26, 2025 when I inquired about…read morethe location of a new book. The first young person who helped me directed me upstairs. Perfect. I found one lone copy, but where are the other 39 that she mentioned? I needed 3 copies, 2 as gifts for Christmas and an upcoming birthday. I looked high and low. Nothing. So I approached the older man upstairs. He finally exclaimed, "Ohhhh, the rest of these are being retained for a class, so what I can do is order for pickup for you." I appreciated the kind service, but I had to head back home to the southeastern part of the state soon. It's two stories and quite spacious even with many others shopping. The cafe towards the back was super loud. This is a nice location in what is referred to as Uptown Albuquerque, NM, at the Coronado Center Mall.

This is a good place to come for books if you're near Coronado Mall. We are members of their…read moreloyalty scheme too, as we buy lots of books. If you are like us in that sense, the loyalty scheme is good value. There are two reasons we are not fans of their coffee shop: first, they have one of those "dark pattern" card payment devices. It makes it very hard when you are paying to leave no tip. You have to keep hitting the damn "no tip" part of the screen over and over for it to work. You should know that this is a deliberate choice on the part of the management. When they buy the card readers, they can choose ones that make it hard for someone NOT to leave a tip. It's a dark pattern you can investigate on YouTube. And it's a really evil thing to do. Shame on the sleazy manager who made that decision! It should be illegal and they should be punished. Second, and this is a problem going back YEARS, if you get a hot drink, it is very likely it will be super hot, like nuclear hot, practically burning through the cup. It will be at least twenty minutes before it's a safe temperature to drink. You think I'm kidding? I'm not, and you've been warned. PLUR, baby! Bonus complaint: My God in heaven, they interrupt with harsh and seemingly unnecessary messages for staff over the loudspeaker very, very often. I know it's not a library, but it is a bookstore. And people are trying to engage with books. Shhhhhut up, already!
