I've been a patron at Books and Crannies since I was a little girl. I remember my mom taking me there often and going there to get the final Harry Potter book. It was such a wonderful memory. The owner Gayle is extremely kind and helpful, she truly wants you to leave the store happier than when you came in. The store is large and accommodates a large variety of genres. There is something for everyone in this store. The prices are extremely affordable and they have a trade credit program for used books. In addition to all the amazing reads the Book Store also hosts free classic movies twice a month. Their theatre troupe the vagabond players also performs at the bookstore small stage several times a year with humorous and enjoyable plays.

Ron & Gayle and resident bookstore cat, Maddie (rescued from New Orleans) run not only this fantastic little used bookstore but also the ladies' consignment shop in another part of the store AND a theatre in the back where they show free classic movies every other week (free popcorn and soda too!) as well as quarterly plays they put on w. their own acting troupe. Oh, AND there is a studio upstairs that offers karate and ballroom lessons during the week What makes this place for me is totally the owners and the vibe of the place - you can just see their care for the community reflected in the way they've restored and cared for the building, how they interact with clients, what they offer etc

Just inside the store, nice area to read and sit

Love this Barnes and Nobles in Garland!!…read more They have a pretty darn good selection of magazines, especially crafting, cooking, lifestyle, and women focused titles. The womens book section is also excellent, lots of fiction, self-care, and inspirational reads at reasonable prices. The Starbucks inside B&N is a huge plus. Grabbing a coffee while browsing magazines or purchasing a new book makes the experience relaxing and enjoyable. The store is clean, well organized, and has a comfortable atmosphere that encourages you to stay awhile. Definitely a go-to spot for book lovers and anyone who enjoys a good magazine and coffee break! They do have restrooms here. However, people are real pigs, so the restrooms aren't very clean. Ugh. Love coming to this store! You will too!! January 2026

The real Starbucks could take and learn a lot from them, never a botched drink, their selection of pastries and food is far superior to the regular Starbucks, no music to get in the way I will go out of my way to have a coffee and relax there than any Starbucks. Bookstore and combination with the coffee shop is just outstanding. Can't go wrong with this place where you want a cup of coffee or a book, or a puzzle yeah the prices are a little high but then again where aren't they today. would have rated them five stores, but it's a big store and there is or was checkout space at both ends of the store but the last couple years they've really only ever staffed the one side so you have to walk all the way to one end of the store to pay and then walk all the way back out the other end if you parked in the main parking lot.

The perfect place to read a book or catch up with a friend!…read more I stopped by Wild Detectives for a midday pick-me-up. They have a lot of cozy seating options and a unique selection of books/vinyl records! I got the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Matcha and absolutely loved it! It wasn't too sweet and had just the right amount of cinnamon. Will absolutely be back!

The Wild Detectives had been on my Dallas bucket list for years, so I was quite excited to finally…read moremake my way to the Bishop Arts District and experience it for myself. First of all, the Bishop Arts District itself is incredibly charming. Block after block of unique shops ranging from bookstores and bakeries to candle shops, candy stores, coffee spots, and little boutiques. It's exactly the kind of neighborhood I loveeeee exploring while traveling and if I lived in Dallas, I'd probably frequent this area often. As for The Wild Detectives, the concept alone immediately appealed to me...bookstore meets cafe meets bar meets restaurant. That combination will pretty much always grab my attention. I love to read, I love to eat. The space has a pretty relaxed, community oriented vibe, and during my Saturday morning/early afternoon visit, there were plenty of people working, reading, chatting, and hanging out both inside and on the patio. My one slight disappointment was that the bookstore side itself was smaller than I expected and didn't have quite as extensive a selection as I had imagined. That said, I still managed to leave with a few great additions for my ever growing TBR pile. Overall, this was a worthwhile stop and one I may revisit the next time I'm in Dallas.
