The views were excellent, and the dogs were very well trained. We'd never been on a dog sled before much less driven one, but it was very manageable even for novices like us. We had a great time, and I would definitely recommend Alpine Adventures. Only point of caution I would mention here is the remoteness of the location. We drove down from Vail on Route 24, and it was a challenging drive over a mountain pass with it having snowed just an inch or two the night before. If there's any snow on the road, I'd be sure to give yourself extra time to get here. Afterwards, we drove up Route 91 back towards Denver and that route was much easier of a drive.

So for me to take time to write this already says a lot. Our guide was amazing. He was sweet as pie and I wish him well. He's the only reason why we enjoyed our morning. He interacted with my son wonderfully and hearing my son laugh and squeal with joy is the best. There's 100+ dogs. You pull up and the facilities are horrific! Should be torn down or put into some Freddy Kruger Nightmare on Elm Street movie, It's a safety hazard for humans and animals. We paid almost $800 for 3 people + a $200 tip to our guide (the tip part was fine), had to use the most disgusting, dirty, lopsided and FULL outhouses I've ever seen, front desk lady was extremely rude and the list goes on and on. Overall, you ride around in an open field. We've been on many other sledding tours and those were worth every penny! We saw others with a larger group be separated, 1-2 in the dog sled and the rest being pulled in a some sort of wagon/cart. They had to alternate in the dog sled. Typically parties are all in sleds following each other. I've never seen anything like this. I do not recommend this dog sledding business.

Paddleboarding on Twin Lakes is not for the faint of heart! I would call myself an intermediate…read morepaddle boarder, and this was both a physically and mentally demanding experience for me. The owners were very friendly. We had booked an afternoon session, but it was pouring rain, so they told us we could wait it out and start later. They also do not charge a late fee if you go for over two hours, which we were grateful for because we got lost amongst the islands, and it was a difficult journey to find our way back and paddle against the currents. I was grateful they provided us dry bags and recommended that we bring extra layers. The weather changed really quickly as it was sunny when we started and later became overcast, rainy, and cold. It was very windy, and the currents were strong (at least for me). I also fell in the lake, so it was nice to have dry clothes to change into. Something that did throw us off was that the Google maps location takes you to the office, while the launch site where they actually have the rentals out is a completely different place about a 15 minute drive away, so we had to backtrack after we got to the office and read the sign with the correct address.

He was so nice that we decided to turn back after setting up camp to try their paddle boards. I've been paddling for years in FL. These are some of the best paddleboards I've come across. Excellent condition, stable and super comfy. The young lady that worked there (didn't capture any names sadly) was just as helpful and sweet. They pointed us to an excellent location with incredible views and we ended up there most of the day. These guys seriously made our trip! Can't thank y'all enough! Keep up the great work :-)

We were in a small group of four, plus our awesome wrangler Stephanie, and had a solid three + hours on horseback all the way to the top of the Rockies to an amazing panoramic view. The horses were healthy, sturdy, and well trained with only minimal snacking on grass when allowed by the novice riders. The tack was in good shape and not shoddy or worn at all. Our wrangler was personable and kept conversation going. Best of luck to you and your travels, Stephanie! The ride had many breathtaking moments, from the Aspen forests to the pines, to fields with wildflowers and old abandoned log cabins, and of course the views of the mountains. Be prepared to get a few scrapes and cuts from unkind branches of pine trees that will get in your way no matter how hard you try to out-maneuver them! I was a bit dismayed to learn that it was to be a walking tour only, and this is the only reason why I docked a star as this info wasn't entirely clear to me before I booked the tour. Although there isn't much space that is horizontal enough to go running (most of the ride is steep up or downward pitch), I was really hoping to get a good ride in. However, I learned that this is normal for riding in this area - apparently a different license is needed for ranches that allow anything more than a steady walk. So, if you are an experienced rider hoping to use those skills, please be aware of this.

We trailered the horses and headed to a trailhead nearby for the full day - stopping for lunch in a beautiful meadow. I believe they provided a couple bottles of water, sandwich, Capri-suns and some trail mix, as well as rain ponchos. Being late September, I was hoping for more color and Aspen groves, but this ride was mostly through pine forest - the guide mentioned that the 1/2 day ride may actually have better scenery, but I was very happy with the full day. A lot of our ride followed the Colorado Trail and we saw one hiker the entire day. I think it would be really cool if they took you to some old ghost towns or abandoned mining areas, which are pretty abundant in the area.

We found the Head Age Class Coach Alice Black to be simply wonderful to work with and her individual coaches were all outstanding. Without exception they all showed enormous hospitality and welcomed us as one of their on into their fold of young athletes. One coach in particular, Willy, went far above and beyond what one would normally expect to ensure that my daughter's experience with AVSC was positive and memorable. When we return to the area again this year we will be very excitedly renewing connections and looking forward to yet another terrific experience.
