It's a nice walk around, right in the town of Aspen. Kid friendly dog friendly but not wheelchair accessible, it was a rocky path with some stones crossing little streams. I could've sat and admired the landscape of this place forever. Wildflowers, and natives, gentle water and little animals about. 10/10 explore if you visit. Fantastic hike to the lake: Roughly 2.8 miles with about 2000 feet of elevation gain. Lovely vistas and streams the whole way. Wildflowers abound aplenty all along the trail if you hit it right. Great campsites ( please pack out everything and no wood fires). Great hike to Electric Pass with slight exposure. Dogs are allowed on the trail. Smallish parking lot Last mile is on bad road and a small car might have problems....just saying

Amazing views of cathedral peak and other mountains. At the lake there were backpackers that camped out over night to hike cathedral peak. Definitely a climb only for experienced people especially with all the snow. The parking lot is small and up a dirt road that low clearance cars can reach. The path is hard to find in the snow at the top but we just followed footprints and the sound of the water. There is no service on the road and ok the hike. Highly recommend this hike, especially when the lake isn't iced over.

There's a gazebo. No restrooms. --------------------------------------------------­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­----------------------- Complete review: The park sits on an one block parcel on Main Street in between Aspen and Garmisch streets. It features an iconic gazebo, a bust of a Nobel Prize laureate, and notably has no restrooms at all (except during special events: porta-johns and janes). The grass is green and the people are friendly. There is a good coffee shop -- if you're into that -- a few steps away; there is a church -- if you're in need of that -- a block away; and, nice people everywhere. Everywhere. In terms of my specific first-hand experiences here, we were here for a special event. There were plenty of well-serviced porta-johns and janes and hand-washing stations. I found the water fountains (or bubblers, if you're from Boston) and made use of them. It rained a lil', I think. My first time in Aspen last week…read more Probably one of the nicest ski towns I have seen. Takes a bit of work to drive there. Vail is just off the 70, Aspen is 40+ miles off the 70. They have hiking, parks, food stores, and some very good restaurants and resorts. Population base is smart and sharp. You have to in order to survive in such a privileged expensive community. Downtown has flagship stores for a few of the high end designers and outdoor companies. There are Bears, but we were told that they don't bother you unless you are dining outside and don't invite them to dinner. I would return again.

Presently, social distancing and masks on is mandated, with most following the rule. Love to start my hikes early in the mornings for it does often rains or gets very hot in the afternoons. CHEERS!

The John Denver Sanctuary and the surrounding Park area are must for a 1st time visitor to Aspen…read morewhether you are a fan of John or not. if you are a fan, many of his songs are enshrined on large stones. (See my photos.) It is such a beautiful, soothing, relaxing area, with trails, and running brooks, and streams. Great place to meditate. Locals also walk their dogs and hike/run through this area daily. It just takes an hour to explore and is a break from the business district a few blocks away. We parked in front of the stores in the business area and walked it over. Make sure to put enough money in the meter--Aspen is agressive on issuing parking tickets. There are other trails that connect to here you can hike of you have more time than we did. Check it out!

The showers had a good water pressure but it was disappointing to only see mystery soap on the wall. For someone who only comes through once in a while paying almost $29 to not have the basic soap/shampoo/conditioner on the wall is kinda sad. I expected more for it being in Aspen. The staff is really friendly and there is plenty of parking.
