When out with the grandkids, they love to visit escape rooms. Having visited over a dozen different escape rooms, we all felt like this was one of the best and most entertaining of all. We did the May Day room. The teenagers were highly engaged as were their parents. The scheme was very logical with several interesting twists. The group navigated the room with plenty of time to spare. We had booked on line and all went smoothly with the booking. They ask that you arrive about 15 minutes early to handle the check-in and paperwork, which all went smoothly. After our escape, we took the obligatory pictures. Then off for some celebratory snacks. read more

Took my older grand children. We choose Cell block E. It was fun. If you like puzzles, you will love it.

My group and I are seasoned escape room players, and we were at a loss with this room. We played cell block E, in which the only thing to rave about is the decor of this room, which we felt was very immersive. In terms of negatives, it's damning. This is a pricier escape room, and the value did not match the cost. The game master was either not responsive or provided unhelpful hints. This was especially bad given that there were several items in this room that were malfunctioning, and we lost a large amount of time as a result. For example, there is a phone you must dial a number on to progress forward. We had identified the correct number and dialed it several times, but it never went through. It wasn't until maybe 15 minutes later that the game master finally told us to redial, and it finally worked. The explanation provided? We should have dialed the entire phone number.... we OBVIOUSLY did that the first 5 times we tried it. The item was clearly malfunctioning and at some point it was their responsibility to step in to move it along. This also happened with a key lock, where you had a key in the cell, and a lock outside of the cell. You need to put your arm through the cell bars to unlock a box with the key. The angle was really difficult to work with, and we had trouble opening it. In fact, we had so much trouble that we assumed it was just the wrong key. It was only TWENTY minutes later that we decided to try again. Mind you, this was one of the first things you needed to do to move forward. We lost a third of our time because of poor game design. The game master should have at least suggested we try again after we sat for 15 minutes struggling to understand what else we could do. We even verbally called out for help several times In this 15 minutes, and we never got a response of any sort. At the end, we lost and had hoped to talk to the game master about how close we were to solving it. She was nowhere to be found, and the front desk did not help either. I suggest you don't burn your money on this game until they make a point of actually fixing the tech and design involved. Additionally, they NEED to be more attentive about problems occurring while playing. At least 25 minutes of our play through was spent on bad design, and while I understand that sometimes that just happens, they need to guide you through situations where you're doing the right thing but it just doesn't work. That's honestly the bare minimum. read more

Waste of time and $$. Whomever put mayday together did a bad job. The employee pointed out two things that were part of the game that were not. When we asked for clues we were given ones for what we had already found. There weren't clues in the game to help. Random letters were supposed to spell a clue but didn't. As if thrown together for $. We've done escape rooms and this made no sense. Place was clean though. read more

What a great time! This event was out of our comfort zone and well worth it. Talk about a different kind of experience for family quality time. I highly suggest you try it out. Its okay of you do not solve the puzzle, we didn't but we still has a superb time. The staff was great and helpful. The facility was clean and well orchestrated rooms. Have a great time! read more

Disappointing. Clue alignment was misleading/ineffective more than once. When they told us "unlimited clues" we should have known it would be bad. Very little sequence/flow. Save your money. read more

There's a lot of cool aspects about this escape room, but the price, as well as the malfunctioning items and the staff's subsequent reluctance to make up for those malfunctions earn it only a two star rating. I'll start out with the good. This was one of the more "advanced" escape rooms I've been to, with a lot of really unique puzzles. The theming of the rooms are also pretty great. Finally, the ability to buy and bring in beer and hard seltzer (and the cheap prices for those) was a huge plus. Now, for the (major) negatives. First, the price. I've been to a lot of escape rooms all over the world, including in large cities, and this is the most expensive escape room experience I've ever had. This is especially considering the cost requires "sharing": they won't let your group have exclusive use of a room unless you buy *all* spots, even at $30 apiece (most escape rooms I have been to won't add more people to a group of 4 or more at the $30 per person range, and will charge far less than that if requiring groups to share). To make matters worse, the whole room was forced to take the official photos together afterwards, even though our two groups didn't know each other. Secondly, and most concerning, two of the puzzles broke (malfunctioned) during our experience. Instead of fixing those parts of the room in a way that still allowed us to solve/experience them, someone just came in and, after fiddling with those items while we all just stood around and watched, basically handed us the answers to them. When we complained and asked to try another room to make up for being shortchanged, the worker replied "hey, I just work here, I can't." While the rooms/puzzles here are cool, the high prices, malfunctioning items, and refusal of staff to do anything to compensate groups for malfunctioning items means I cannot recommend it to others. read more

Lots of fun, good service, good escape room puzzles. Great for groups. We did a group of 4 in the Inventors Room.

We did the mayday room and it was definitly tricky. Apparently it has a 75% success rate and the cell block E has a 10% success rate. The clues didn't really follow each other which is why it was a little hard. It's more like things can be done in any order. I've done more fun rooms and I left unsatisfied sadly. We had to use hints, but we're by no means experts. read more

We had a great experience here. It was me, my wife, and my in-laws. For reference, my wife and have done 53 or so escape rooms all over the country and got our folks hooked over the weekend. This is a brand new escape room, still somewhat under construction actually. As such, it's a generation 3 escape room. That means it doesn't have locks and such. Instead it's all electronic. Put something on a shelf and something opens rather than unlock a drawer that is closed by a four digit combo lock, for example. The puzzles were all superb, the game master did a great job (Austin), and the room was fantastic aesthetically. Many times you have rooms that just don't make sense. But this one, all the puzzles were perfectly aligned. They have more rooms opening too. If you have to pick an escape room company to check out while you're in the Dells, this is the place to go! read more

This place was awful, the amount of money paid to experience an escape room was definitely not worth it . We attempted to escape the cell block E escape room and as my second time attempted to escape this room I was well aware of what to expect. There was MULTIPLE malfunctioning pieces and parts which was insanely frustrating. We worked almost the whole time trying to figure out a puzzle that DID NOT WORK. There was missing parts that was needed to escape and so there was absolutely no way to escape considering how many broken and missing things there was. Even at the end the guy who told us what we needed to do to escape attempted to use the phone which we needed to use to escape and it DID NOT WORK. We should have been refunded for this awful experience but we got nothing. This placed sucked and will not be coming again. If they would have refunded our tickets it would have been fair but it was a total waste of money. read more

I love escape rooms. And while the escape rooms here didn't add anything new to the genre or have some sort of twist that set them apart, they took the tried-and-true escape room and did a great job with it. I found them to be a little more expensive than I would've liked, but I'm sure they have deals that I wasn't aware of. So I would certainly look for discounts and coupons. This is the Dells after all. The whole family loved it newbies and experienced people alike. read more

This is not for people who are experienced with escape rooms. The four of us have done about twenty escape rooms in the past and were able to complete the two rooms within 26 minutes. Definitely not worth the $140. Part of the reason we were able to escape so easily was the puzzles were not set up properly or reset from previous uses. For example, there was one puzzle that required four statues to unlock a final piece, but the final piece was unlocked with only three of the statues. Another part of the lackluster was the puzzles were pretty obvious. We really didn't need any of the hints to figure out what goes where. Another part that put us off was right before we started our session we asked about a $5 off code for each player that we saw after we booked the session. The male representative we talked to was borderline rude and unyielding. He said, "Sorry you already booked it and paid" then walked away without even letting us continue the conversation. It was pretty much a "too bad so sad" mentality he was shooting towards us. Needless to say we will not be returning. There are other options out there that are more bang for the buck and challenging. Places like Wizard Quest (we did the same day) where, for about the same price per person, you get 2+ hours of challenges and a very immersive theme. We even had a better time doing some good ol' fashioned bowling. Again, find another indoor activity to entertain yourself and your family instead of going to Booby Trap Escape Rooms. read more

If you have never tried an escape room, I recommend it. We escaped with five minutes left in and Egyptian theme room in the Dells. Very fun and very creative. A lot goes into the story, clues, puzzles, and trick gadgets that you need to navigate in order to escape. Great family fun! read more

Highly Recommend. Gets kinda warm in the rooms, but it adds to the excitement. We did the Inventors Workshop & Mayday, both in one day. They try to have a group do the room together, up to 8 or 10 people. The inventors workshop in my opinion was more difficult, though we did have a wide variety in our group. Ranging from 10 to 70 years old, so it was a bit difficult to get everyone focused. The room Mayday was a lot more interesting, the story was more relatable and made you think of checking everything more thoroughly. Lots of neat sliding doors, hidden hatches and parts you didn't think would move. Would definitely do more of these at this place. read more

Our family of four did the Mayday room today and had a blast. We all were able to participate equally (2 adults, 14 year old and 7 year old). This was our 4th escape room and it lived up to our expectations. The room was clean and we really liked how they gave clues here (only when we asked them to and they typed it on the screen instead over a fuzzy walkie talkie). We received a coupon to come back and we definitely plan to come back the next time we are in the Dells. read more

The Game Master gave terrible clues and didn't give good direction. Once we figured out a clue, she didn't say that it was also needed later on to help unlock another clue. Even tho we already figured out the clue, she wouldn't help us to get it back. Quite unhappy with how this place handled the "help" during the game. They could see that we were frustrated and were struggling and didn't offer any help. Save your money, don't go here. read more

Taylor was great and didn't give us any clues We still escaped and had a blast! Beware the curse of Pharoah.

We LOVED it! We did Mayday, not easy, harder then we thought. Hunter was great & the owner as well. Clean & new, well worth it! We will be back next time we come to the Dells. read more

Production values are very high, but unfortunately the rest can't really maintain the same level. We've gone twice now, puzzles are pretty linear and not particularly intuitive, some solutions are more easily brute forced. One puzzle in one of the rooms was broken, there was nothing in its place to make up for it despite it seemingly having been broken for some time. Our game master the second time clearly didn't want to be there, was texting during intro video, gave way too many hints unprompted, and came in midway through and showed us three quarters of a puzzle, clearly wanted us out of there. Really unsatisfying successful completion. read more

We had an excellent experience in the Inventor's Workshop. Would come back next trip to the Dells. JC was a great escape master.

Enjoyed this place and the staff was super friendly I would highly recommend this place warm up that brain

I've done 3 out of the 4 current rooms here so far and they were all very fun and challenging! Ayziah was particularly accommodating and friendly. read more

Fun time. We were in the Dells for a basketball tournament. After a long day, decided on a team building activity for the boys. They "escaped" with 5 minutes left. Not to rain on their parade, but the group of parents escaped with 13 minutes left. Not as complicated as another one I had been to, but challenging and enjoyable. read more

I would give this Escape Room zero stars if it allowed me! We have done about 30 escape rooms at all different difficulties and have escaped EVERY ONE of them! This was our first ever terrible experience with a room! Some rooms we have done were super difficult, we have done escape rooms that were an hour an a half long and meant for 12 people one of the most difficult rooms and completed it in almost record time! We did Mayday! This room however was so chaotic, out of order and things did not make sense! There is a reason they allow unlimited hints. I have probably used more hints in this room than I have in every other room I've ever done put together! We finished a puzzle very fast, nothing happened. We were trying to proceed and move on to something different! NOOO our game master comes in probably 20 minutes later and goes "Oh it isn't working, it was supposed to lift this up" It lifted up a code to open a door! We couldn't get into another room because this b**** waited 20 minutes to tell us it wasn't working and she didn't put more time on our clock or stop the clock once! Then to finish the puzzle there were random objects throughout the room, no hidden pictures, nothing it matched no clues... and you had to randomly know that these 3 items went on a shelf in the very last room. You had to know these 3 items went on this shelf in a certain order and you had to play around with the exact spot to set them in! The game master could not even figure out where exactly to put it when she was showing us! There was no way without using clues and pretty much being told how to put them. Nothing in the room hinted for anything like what they showed us! Also to find one of the objects (which was a teapot- how weird why was there a teapot on a submarine) you had to feel inside a DARK cubby on the CEILING of one of the rooms! You couldn't see anything in this room and you had to know it was on the ceiling in a pitch black room without any clues to needing a teapot or anything about the ceiling. Lastly there was another clue. You needed to know off the eastern coast of some island (which is hidden so you don't know what it is) you need to find a blood thirsty beast! There are 2 animals that are blood thirsty beasts in the map given and NOTHING anywhere in the room again leads you to what island you need to look for. We only got this with clues asked because nothing directs you to what animal you need, nor then do you even have a clue what you need to do with that animal! This room and company is so unorganized. It was honestly horrible and frustrating. Typically escape rooms are fun! This one just pissed me off. And also makes me mad that for 20 minutes of our game we were stuck because our idiot game master didn't come in to tell us it wasn't working and never stopped our clock or gave us time for an issue we had no control over!!!! Will never recommend and will never go back! I will stick with companies I know and trust! Looking for an AMAZING company that is throughout the US look up The Escape Game! They are amazing and we have done every game they have offered! read more

Not accommodating at all for people with a disability who is incapable of participating. we were on vacation and didn't want to leave him behind. The is place either forced us to pay for our disabled family member to be in the room and not play or not reimburse for one person in a party of 7 to sit with him because he couldn't come in. Don't waste your time we've been to better escape rooms elsewhere that had better puzzles and were much more accommodating to those with disabilities . read more

The clue master was not very responsive and clues were not adequate. The staff including the manager were rude and defiant. The rules of the room were not enforced. We were on vacation with our 14 year old grandson and have done at least 10 other Escape rooms around the country and this was the only and worst experience ever. We did 2 other escapes in another Wisconsin city and they were excellent. Before you spend your hard earned money, check carefully on the experience level of an establishment. read more
