    Pineapple fried rice (shrimp)
    Arrianna R.

I've been here multiple times and the food is consistently great! This past visit i tried the crab rangoon which was one of the best I've ever had! There were actual chunks of meat that I could see which is not always the case everywhere. I also got the pineapple fried rice with shrimp and it was delicious! I ordered a spice of 5 which was perfect for me but definitely on the spicy side.

I was in Charlotte for a night & in the mood for Thai. Fellow Yeppers, thanks for persuading me to give Bonzai a try! We kicked things off with some fried wings, and they were super fresh and piping hot--seriously, right out of the fryer! For my main dish, I went with the shrimp pineapple fried rice, while my husband chose the seafood pad Thai. Both dishes were fresh, flavorful and had a little bit of a kick (even at spice levels 2 & 3). Our waitress was super friendly and on top of things. The restaurant itself is small and cozy yet lively. If you're after some authentic Thai, this place is a must-visit!

Drunken noodles with chicken and pineapple rice with seafood

Finally an authentic Thai place in Charlotte. Not taking away from the other spots but this place food wise, beats them all. I came on a Saturday and place was not busy, but unfortunately, had only one chef, so it was a bit of a wait but again, food made up for it. The drunken noodles were cooked to perfection! You got the hint of the wine and brandy, with the sweetness of the sauce, and that bite of salt that real thai food has. Perfect spice and you can ask to go up or down Best pineapple rice I've had in a long time. Every ingredient is layered and incorporated beautifully. Crab Rangoon was yummy, nuff said Ambiance no frills, like any cafeteria in Bangkok, minus the street dogs and noise this strip mall Thai has sold me and will be back.

Didn't have expectations for any authentic ghai flavors in clt but it turned out alright. The drunken noodle Was pretty good but the beef is very chewy and stale tasting. Mango sticky rice is pretty standard, wish they use sweeter mangos. Overall the dishes a bit too sweet and can use less sugar.

Travel through Clt, was in the mood for Thai and found this gem. Food was fantastic, very flavorful! Service was friendly and quick, the restaurant ambiance was good and very clean. We had the red chicken curry and the Yum salad. The curry sauce was thick and flavorful with just the right amount of spices with vegetables and chicken. The Yum salad with beef had the perfect balance of vegetables with beef in every bite and dressing that offered a ton of flavor without making it soggy.

Order: vegetable pad lad na, chicken pad kra prow, chicken red curry, chicken crispy fried noodles and tofu pineapple fried rice. All their entrees come with a side of eggroll, soup or salad and portion size is generous. Vegetables pad lad na comes with Chinese broccoli, carrots, green beans, zucchini, Napa cabbage and mushroom served with their gravy sauce. Flavor was amazing but a little too much sauce. The chicken pad kra prow has a similar taste profile but unique in its own. I preferred the ground chicken instead of the strips they used here. Red curry is spicy. If you like spice then this is for you. Pineapple fried rice may not be for everyone if you are the same type of person who doesn't like pineapple on pizza lol. I personally loved it; just wished it had more pineapple. And lastly, the crispy noodles. This isn't a dish you'll want to take to-go. The noodles have to be eaten there otherwise it'll be soggy. But it's so yummy and I think it's served with the same gravy sauce. If they can put the sauce on the side for to-go then sogginess wouldn't be an issue. Overall the food is good! Only improvement would be service time. Last few times, they weren't busy but each time it took over 40 minutes to get our food. Think business is picking up for them because it was definitely a full house today. Glad we came before the rush.

Good food. Very good service and the ambiance was very fitting for the food. I left very content.

Came around 5pm on a Thursday and had the place to ourselves for a good bit of the visit but there was steady business for to go orders. It picked up around 6. Our waitress and rest of the staff was friendly and present. We started with pork potstickers and bonzai wings. The dumplings were fried 3.5/5 nothing special but they were fresh. Wings were huge but flavor and hot, I'd prefer smaller wings 4/5. Also had the pineapple sake 3.5/5 sweeter than I expected but I enjoyed it. For entrees we had the volcano salmon 5/5 and pad see ew 4/5 both spice level of 3. I wouldn't go higher than 4. The 3 was plenty heat but not too much to compromise the enjoyment of the meal. Nice spot I would recommend.

    Pad Met Ma Muang

Stopped in for a late lunch, at 1 pm (they close at 2 pm)... Wanted to try something new, so I ordered this Pad Met Ma Muang (Cashew Nut), a stir-fry dish, with a Veggie Spring Roll (a choice side). The waitress actually recommended this dish over the Volcanic Salmon dish I thought about trying. Well, I liked how there were plenty of juicy Shrimp in this dish, and a good mix of veggies, but the flavor of the dish was too heavy on Soy Sauce...not much in terms of having the typically amazing Thai flavors. With Cashew Nuts in the mix, I expected it to taste WAY better. Sadly, it was barely good. I seriously regretted not ordering the Salmon dish. Even the Spring Roll was sub par...as it was way too saturated with oil. On my very first time here, I thought the foods were really good, but on every visit after that, the foods have not been that great. Just barely good. Service was OK, though a bit absent. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, the service staff acted so busy and preoccupied...maybe just eager to quickly close up shop? The best thing about this restaurant is that the pricing is quite friendly. Unlike other restaurants that have jacked up the prices since Covid, this place is still relatively cheap. Plus, this place is conveniently located next to one of my fave, new tea (and dessert) joints. For these reasons, I may return regardless (of my disappointments!).

The host greeted us and was super nice, she did mention the kitchen closes at 10:50 but that we were more than welcome to come inside just that we should order soon. I really appreciated that!! Our server was nice and attentive and I made sure to order quickly. I was starving anyway so this was all perfect, honestly lol. I tried the sora roll which is: spicy yellowtail and cucumber, topped with yellowtail and avocado, crispy shallots, masago, spring onions, and yuzu miso reduction. THIS WAS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! I probably could've eaten two. I will 100% be back very soon to have this again lol. I also tried their brussel sprouts and really loved those too! They were cooked and flavored perfectly. I also really love the ambiance of this place. It was perfectly dime lit and it just looks soooooooo nice inside. The decor, the bar, everything was super nice. The only access problem was the parking as the parking lane is very narrow. I don't know if there's additional parking for Yama but I drive a truck so I had to back out of the parking entrance. Just drove around the corner onto a Main Street, not South Blvd, n viola there was street parking on the side, no signs for time limits. All good. It was for a late lunch with visiting friends. Atmosphere for this meetup made us stay later than we should have bc I think we stayed til around 4:30pm? Lunch service finished maybe around 2:30-2:45? Felt badly for the person at the reception but he said it was no problem. I hv bn to Yama in Waverly a couple of times n now Yama Loso. Both serve a modern twist to Asian dishes. I love traditional Japanese meals but I also enjoy twists in recipes once in a while. Spicy edamame for starters. Looked great but I can't eat spice at the moment so I can't rate it tho my friends did eat it all up. Ate the sushi rice bowl but w/o the spicy aioli sauce n asked for something else which was on the sweet side. Comforting meal, not overwhelming, just right. Edamame, cucumbers, yellow pickled daikon, tuna, salmon, avocado. A simple lunch was all I needed. Then, the hamachi neck part came grilled, not on the menu but if they hv it they'll serve it tender n juicy. Only reason I left a star out was bc of the parking. Other than that, I'd probably go there again if I'm on that side of Charlotte but for me Waverly is closest.

We arrived around 5:30-6:00 PM and were told the next available table wouldn't be until 8:30, so we ended up sitting at the bar instead. Luckily, the barstools were comfortable, so I didn't mind at all. The service was great--fast, attentive, and the bartenders were really friendly. The drinks were also really good. I had a lychee martini that was strong but delicious. We also tried a few of their shots--they had a unique, acquired taste. The only one I didn't enjoy was the Hierba shot because the aftertaste reminded me of licorice, which I'm not a fan of. But if you like licorice, you'd probably enjoy it. As for the food, everything was amazing. The yuca balls were a 10/10. We also had the "Pulpo Anticuchero", which was a Spanish style octopus that came with roasted potatoes that were cooked perfectly--crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, very fresh and flavorful. I ordered the arroz con mariscos (seafood rice), which included calamari, octopus, squid, and more. It was really good, and the portion size was huge--definitely enough to feed 3-4 people, so keep that in mind when ordering. The ambiance was really nice as well. The music was good and not too loud, which made it easy to enjoy the overall vibe. Overall, I'd give this place a 10/10.
