The attached gift shop is full of Dino themed trinkets for the perfect souvenir. The staff were very friendly and were a joy to talk to. The mini golf was definitely built for kids, but still a nice way to pass the time. A heads up for folks with sensory issues, it's very loud in the building. A pair of ear plugs is a must to those sensitive to sounds or consider taking advantage of their designated sensory friendly hours. Absolutely would go again.

However, I later found the rink to be unsafe, understaffed and poorly managed. On Friday nights it can get crowded. There aren't enough staff or referees to manage the rink floor. People will loiter anywhere on the rink floor blocking the entrance and exit ways. Kids will sit on the floor with their legs sticking out for anyone to trip over. Teenagers loiter all over and mainly in the corning sitting area on the rink floor then all get up at once blocking all oncoming skaters. Kids skate the wrong way on the rink. If there is enough staff they will try to enforce the rules but the kids often ignore them. Or they will follow the direction once then go back to doing what they shouldn't be doing. I've found items on the rink floor that people can trip over such as large screws, candy, jewelry, and plastic containers of mints. The are usually no referees skating around looking out for these hazards. Unlike other rinks I've been to where kids with skate mates or people who would like to practice their tricks are directed to stay in the middle of the rink, there are young skaters at this rink who have no concept of rink etiquette and will speed by doing tricks around the rink not caring who is in the way and knock anyone down. I was knocked down and out one evening and didn't know what hit me. I was skating then the next second I was on my back passed out. Later that evening another person was knocked out and badly injured I'm guessing by the same young skater doing his tricks on the floor with no concern for others. Noticing some of these hazards earlier while skating there I had written to Skate on Grand/Bella's Bouncies with some suggestions before these accidents happened. I hope they will take some action to make this rink a safe and enjoyable place to skate again. It was really nice skating with the kids and families when it wasn't an unruly, madhouse full of middle schoolers who have care or concept of anyone else besides themselves. This rink is on the small side and should have a lower limited capacity instead of just letting as many people in as possible. However, the young people who work there I'm sure don't have any way of knowing or enforcing that.

Visiting the Chicago area from Southern California, where rollerskating rings are a few and far…read morebetween, we found sweet little rollerskating rink across the swamp (?) from our airbnb. I had so much fun. It was a true throwback 30+ years to my childhood. It was fun to get out on the rink and skate like I was eight years old again. The staff were super friendly. We went once on Saturday night and learned that they had a Sunday afternoon special for families, four people for $35 including skates, so we came back again the following day. Amazing time. Great fun. Highly recommend.

Proceeded to show up not even 20 minutes later, the place was packed. We walked to the front counter to ask what the wait times were, and a woman and man at the counter looked at me like I just told them I totaled their car in the parking lot. They proceed to say that there were no open lanes for the day in a spiteful manner. It amazes me how someone can work a job like this, act like a complete crude, treat people with disrespect, all while not even doing their simplistic job correctly. Like other spots there are 5 machines. We played for a little while and did OK. Only issue was we wanted to try a machine that had been empty, though with a sign posted, for at least 15-20 minutes. The player had left, wasn't outside for a smoke or in the potty, just left. She had mentioned she was there on her break from work. Kind of odd there was no access to the machine, despite the place being pretty busy. We asked about it and were told, she is out getting cash from her car. Not likely, she was clearly not on or near the premises. While saving machines for a few minutes is perfectly fine, but holding a machine for someone that clearly wasn't anywhere around while others were forced to wait for a machine just doesn't seem right. This has not happened at the other gaming places we have tried. Maybe need to re-think the "save" strategy. Otherwise, with a little patience we did pretty good with the gaming.

I came to the location for an American Society of Quality meeting, a professional organization I…read morebelong to. The meeting was one of the rare in-person ones for this particular chapter and I assume that because most of the members live out this way, they decided to have the meeting here. The first part of the meeting was an hour of bowling, which I don't do as a rule. The bowling alley itself was clean, but very dated. Not sure why but I felt like I was in an 80s episode of a TV show or in Stranger Things, just a very dated vide. Based on bowling alleys I have gone to in Chicago, the equipment used to record our scores was very dated, but it worked. Sort of reminded me of the arcade games like Pac Man, with the limited graphics. There is a bar, but can't say it is a full bar because of the limitations of the available mixers and other items: no wine at all (I didn't even think of asking for bubbles because it is definitely not that kind of place). I ordered a Maker's Mark and lemonade that the bartender had on hand. The bartender was nice and took care of me. I tipped him and he seemed surprised and mentioned I didn't have to do it, but he really made my drinks nicely, so he earned it. Something to note: while they do run tabs and do tap/pay, you should open a tab, even if you think you might only get one drink. Each transaction is charged a fee and the bartender let me know that and it was greatly appreciated. It was nice that the venue allowed us to use the space for our meeting as well as bring in food for us to eat, so that was nice. There were quite a few families that showed up doing our time there and they were having a great time. If you are looking for a no frills night out without spending a lot of money, this is your jam.
