Check-in service was superb and we were greeted with a mini tour of the inn and given a map with popular spots around the city. There was also a fresh batch blueberry muffins waiting for us that were to die for! The room we got was good and a bit dated, but given that we were only there to sleep it did it's job! Breakfast the next morning was a lovely plated meal with a yogurt parfait, quiche, and fresh fruit. We didn't know what quite to expect when booking here, but wished we added another day to our stay. Maybe next time!

My wife quickly reviewed some bed and breakfasts in Prince Edward Island and managed to find the very accommodating Colonial Charm Inn. We were to leave Sunday morning, but were still undecided Friday night. Colonial Charm Inn agreed to hold our room until noon the next day when we would know better whether we could go. Luckily, we were able, and that was the beginning of a very memorable and pleasant 3-day stay at Colonial Charm Inn. At the moment of arriving, we were greeted by Jeff, who immediately made us feel at home. He was very friendly and helpful with any requests or advice that we needed during our stay. The Inn is an older home adorned with antiques, prints, and even a suit of armour or two! The decorating may not appeal to everyone, but we like the historic atmosphere. There was parking in the front or rear of the building. And because, we had expensive bicycles on the rack of our car, they allowed us to store them inside, so we need not strap and lock them on the car every night. Very convenient and safe. We were booked in The Charles Henry Foster Room. An en suite and balcony! The room was perfect. The antique 4-poster bed may not be the perfect comfort for some, but we were fine with it. Let's face it, it's not a high-end hotel. It's the high-end hospitality and charm that was worth every penny. The following morning we met Shelly, Melanie, Hannah, Reg ... and the friendliness and special attention continued. Everyone was very cordial and relaxed. They prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning during our stay. All very fresh and homemade. During our cycling excursions, sight-seeing, and dining out experiences, Reg and Shelly were equipped us with all the maps, brochures, as well as, great advice and recommendations. They could not have made it any easier for us, especially our 25th anniversary dinner arranged and booked for us at The Delta. That was one of (maybe the top two!) culinary experiences we had in our well-travelled lives. (Maybe another review for them) Thank you everyone at Colonial Charm Inn! We can not thank you enough.

Once we were settled we inquired about dining options and he marked them on a map of the area. In the morning the manager, Rod, was able to help us narrow down some places we could visit during our stay in Charlottetown and on our last morning he suggested a route for us to take getting to Cape Breton. He even told us to call the hotel if we had any issues in finding our way there. Our room was located on the top floor, same side as the front of the hotel. It was a decently sized room with a desk, tv, armchair and closet. The bathroom was a decent size but the shower stall was quite small and the water took a long time to warm up. Our on last morning we let the manager know that we enjoyed our stay but that the mattress was way too soft for our liking and he let us know that he's heard the same comment from other guests and that the mattress is actually new. In our section of the hotel there were a few rooms with a (small) common kitchen, dining table and a sitting area. Within the whole hotel there were a few common sitting areas both indoor and outdoors. By the front entrance there were coffee and ice machines along with filtered water. Breakfast was served in two dining rooms. There was all the makings of a continental breakfast (toast, juice, coffee, tea, yogurt, cereal) and servers would come by periodically to take orders from their menu and remove plates. There was a selection of six items to choose from and most came with locally grown potatoes (omelette, scrambled eggs or tofu, eggs benedict, oatmeal, waffles). Portions aren't big but if it's not enough then it's easy to grab some toast or yogurt to go along with it.

Our room was so big, had a kitchenette and a balcony. The bathroom worked great, the shower pressure was wonderful and the whole facility was clean, quaint and just beautiful! What an amazing place to stay!…read more I'm so so happy we booked a three day package here because we had such a lovely time! This bed and breakfast is owned by Judy and her family and they are the sweetest people ever. We arrived quite early on Tuesday morning because our flight from Montreal left at 7 AM. Thankfully the room was ready for us before noon which was a pleasant surprise! Judy took the time to explain everything to us in the sitting room and she gave us a bunch of info pamphlets on restaurants and activities on the island. Our room was on the top floor so we had to carry all our stuff up two flights of stairs which was good exercise. The room had two beds, one queen and one single. The single was in the room with the desk, couch, chair, and TV. The bathroom was small but definitely functional and we were provided with dove shampoos and body wash. Our room was cleaned daily and towels were changed out. There was an AC unit in our room but we only had to use it once one afternoon when it was quite hot and muggy. We preferred to open the windows and get a nice cross breeze through the room. Parking is super easy right outside on the lawn. Breakfast is communal downstairs from 8-9 and you have your choice of eggs & bacon, French toast, oatmeal, or cereal. They definitely know how to cook eggs here so shout out to the chef in the kitchen! My mom ordered poached eggs and they were done perfectly, and I definitely enjoyed my over hard eggs. The jams were super yummy as well; not sure if they are made in PEI but they were perfect on the buttered toast. Prior to receiving your main meal you get to start off with fresh fruit, tea or coffee, and orange juice. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Judy, her two daughters, and her husband. They are so sweet and hospitable and willing to take the time to talk to you and see how your day went. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to PEI who wants to stay in an old style Victorian house with a lovely family :)

Staying at the Barachois Inn made my dream trip to Prince Edward Island absolutely perfect. Judy,…read morethe proprietor, made us feel like VIPs the entire time we were there. She is chock-full of Island history and has all of the insider tips any visitor could desire. She made sure we got the full Anne of Green Gables experience (my wish) and the best seafood meals (my husband's) while we were there. We had such a lovely, relaxing visit as a result of her advice and help. I think staying at the Barachois enhanced our feeling of returning to Anne's childhood home, too. Returning to quaint North Rustico each evening and retiring to our cozy b&b helped immerse us in that feeling of coming home, as Anne often referenced in the book. Thank you, Judy and Andrea, for keeping our spacious room tidy and clean, and for the delicious breakfasts and equally tantalizing stories about the island.
