The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable . He has helped us to repot our bonsai baby. We also bout a couple new ones we couldn't resist on our last visit. His collection of bonsais are very beautiful. He has many options and experience levels to choose from and as far as quality bonsai's go, His pricing is fair. read more

This place is amazing, you have to check it out. This is my first experience with bonsai trees and Dave, the owner, was so friendly and helpful. You can tell he lives and breathes these trees and that made the experience so much more enjoyable. You don't just buy a tree and walk out, he's there for you to call with any questions and even does video calls if needed. Please go see what's going on at Bonsai House, we really need to support small businesses. Prices were good too. read more

One of the reasons why I use Yelp is to discover places like this. Bonsai House is run by a friendly elderly Asian couple in Westland. It's very easy to miss. I was looking for an actual storefront but this is a tiny house on N. Inkster Road with a tiny parking lot in the back. There are bonsai plants big and small as well as Asian pots and decorative figurines. The day I was there the shop was in a bit of disarray. I wonder how long this couple will be able to manage things on their own. It would be so sad to see a gem like this go. I highly recommended supporting this small business if you are looking to buy bonsai plants. read more

This is one of those hidden gems where you should go even if you are not interested in bonsai trees. It is a truly authentic and "old world" type feel when you walk inside. Leave all your expectations at the door and you will be pleasantly surprised by the charm of the owners. They offer a wide variety of bonsai trees but offer even more in wisdom. It was a pleasure talking and purchasing a bonsai tree from here. read more

We love Bonsai House! The owners were really helpful in training up some bonsai newbies. They have plants from $10 to $1000 so lots of options. Indoor and outdoor plants. Very beautiful ceramic pots. This place is a little authentically messy but it's to be expected when you're growing this many plants! read more

Add me to the list of 5 star reviews. If you don't expect a meticulous and manicured setting, you are going to leave with a happy heart and greater respect for this art form and the time and dedication it requires. They have plenty of "finished" specimens that are awaiting your care as well as "unfinished" but equally beautiful plants that are awaiting your personal touch and detail. I left with one of each and a gorgeous platform to display them on. Small business at its best and they truly love what they do. What more can you ask for? read more

To get here you might have to go through some sketchy territory but once you get there it is well worth it. The Chinese lady that works there is not always there because she has grand kids so you should still call but the hours are 11-6 Wednesday-Friday and 11-5 on Saturday. They are closed the other days. The very nice lady that works there will give you tons of advice and help and tips to help you pick the tree for you. When you buy a tree you get instructions on how to take care of it so no worries there. Awesome place. Lots of wicked looking trees. Definitely a hole in the wall. read more

Ever since I was a kid, my folks have always been cool about taking me places that are not only culturally diverse, but off the beaten path as well. I didn't spend alot of time in front of the tv or at mcdonalds and I'm better for it. One of the places I did spend alot of time is the bonsai house. This place is amazing. For those of you that get a kick out of seeing what kind of buisness people can conduct out of a shoebox sized house add this to your circuit. A very charming and sweet ol Chinese lady chills and clips trees all day( jealous?) and is happy to teach you of bonsai. From the history of it being Chinese not japanese, to what tree my dumbass no green thumb having self won't kill this time, she's more than willing to tell you all about anything she can. You can spend 5 bucks on a baby and bring it up yourself, or drop 5 stacks on a hundred year old tree that will make your peeps ooh and ahh more than a pile of bacon wrapped bacon at your dinner party. PLEASE check this spot out it's one of those indie type deals that we all know and love and could use a little more love. Call first to make sure she's open- one day during the week is for sure closed. I think Tuesday but not positive. Also in the summer there are more trees outside! read more

GREAT place to visit and not only purchase bonsai, but learn as well. The owners are so nice and helpful as well. This is an old residence/house turned into a bonsai store-don't you love America? I've been buying here for quite a few years. If one of your trees dies, you can bring it back in for a discount on a new one. I have yet to need to do it, but totally trust the owners. The soil they use is perfect for home/indoors. A mix of multiple substrates-rock, soil, additives. Prices are the best I have seen in Michigan. They have anything from 25-1000 dollars. All sizes/ages. They will also assist with repotting when necessary for a very nominal fee. I have yet to do this either. My favorite bonsai place! A must visit. read more

Had a very pleasant visit to Bonsai House. I was looking for a plant to liven up my livingroom and thought a Bonsai tree would be the perfect thing. I went to several other places before coming here, but if you are looking for a bonsai tree this place is it. The older husband and wife who owns this place was very friendly and helpful. I left this place with two trees and felt very confident and knowledgeable on how to take care of them. I'll definitely be stopping by again soon! read more

Drove 45 minutes to come to this bonsai house. It was definitely worth it! They had a pretty good selection of young and old trees. Huge selection of different bonsai pots. The woman working was extremely helpful and friendly. She gave good advice about taking care of my tree. My boyfriend and I will be going back. If you take in your bonsai tree she will give you advice on what could improve the overall look and health of the tree. Definitely check it out!! read more

I think the other reviewers have already done a great job extolling the store's virtues. I just wanted to reaffirm them. The owner is lovely - she is willing to tell you anything you need to know about Bonsai. When you buy a plant from her, she gives you a care guide. Also, if you buy a bonsai that she has already potted - she will guarantee it. If you kill it - take it back and your next bonsai will be half price. I think that is more than generous. Definitely recommend a visit to support this local treasure. read more

What an adorable little place! The woman who runs the shop is knowledgeable and very helpful. You can tell she has a passion for her craft. She helped my son pick out the perfect little tree. She took time to teach him the difference between each type of tree as well as how to care for each type of tree. If you are interested in starting this hobby, take a look at this little shop. read more

I bought my first bonsai trees here in May and love them. As others have already said the couple that owns the store were super nice and very helpful on helping me choose some trees. They gave care instructions and my trees are still thriving 4 months later :) Reasonable prices and great customer service. I love this place and plan to go back this week! read more

Bonsai House rocks it! Old world charm and expert advice. Hundreds of bonsai plants to choose from for others or oneself.

I was looking for a local bonsai supply store and was very pleasantly surprised by Bonsai House. The owners are very knowledgeable and helpful. They have given me very good advice on how to create my own mini-landscapes. They deserve all 5 stars. Do visit this little gem in Westland, you won't regret it. read more

I like this place! It is small, so does not have as large a selection as some others in this area, but does have a good selection of pre and finished bonsai with both indoor and outdoor plants. They do most of the work there themselves, and are friendly, fun, and knowledgeable to talk to. They now have a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/bonsaihousemi?fref=nf. If you've purchased anything there, why not post a photo on FB and get the word out? read more

Phenomenal service, fantastic quality, beautiful souls helping people select and take home lovely bonsai. Repeat customer right here.

Definitely this is a unique nursery in Michigan. I have very pleasant visit there. I was told they have more than 20 years. It's amazing.
