The same can be said for the room; we had the John Calvin room. Liz, the owner, is excellent at making you feel welcomed from the moment you arrive. She provides recommendations for the area and her recommendation for "Crazy Horse" for dinner did not disappoint! It is a quiet setting, and a great place to get away. The only caveat is if you are on the first floor and there are people above you in a room, you will likely hear every time they walk. The floors, adding to the character, creak easily. Breakfast, was very good. We had a southwest frittata, fruit and a pumpkin donut (October). Coffee is ready before 8am. I love that it is Christian themed and the rooms are named for Christian Theologians. If you're looking for a quaint, special getaway, give Cottonwood Inn a go! Liz will take good care of you!

Although this was a little farther from downtown than we're used to from previous years, having a B&B be slightly out of town wasn't exactly a bad thing since we're truly removed from all the busyness of the downtown area. Liz was such a lovely lady who can cook a mean breakfast. My husband isn't the biggest fan of a quiche, but he even he ate the whole giant slice. Although our room wasn't the biggest, it was still very cozy and quaint, especially with the blue and white decor. Although the bathroom wasn't en suite, it was about 10 steps away and we didn't have to share. I loved having the natural lighting from the skylight in the bathroom. There was a reading area, a sun room, and other parts of the house we didn't even check out because we were so busy enjoying the town. Because of the location, you can't beat the price. I do hope to get to stay there again someday.

Betsy is one of the friendliest people I've ever met -- she came jauntily out of the house even while we were still getting out of the car. She showed us around with great enthusiasm. We stayed in the Rose room, decorated in pink and dollies and stuffed animals, so that's something. The property is located on one of the prettiest roads in town, S. Shore Drive. It's a really nice area, about 8 minutes from downtown. Breakfast was a baked egg pie sort of thing, along with a bran muffin, a fruit tart, orange juice -- delicious and filling. Betsy has been in the area for decades and can very entertainingly orient her guests to the surroundings. Being from the upper peninsula, she can also tell a good tale about the yooper. Looking forward to spending a little time out in the backyard, on the patio and gazebo. Oh, there's also an incredible wind chime out back, big and rich in tone.

My husband has never done a real B&B so this was a great experience for him. We ate a personal egg omelette bake the first day with fresh fruit, a muffin and filled us up for the bike ride we went on. Betsy was generous to accommodate my gluten free sensitivity. I am fortunate that it doesn't have to be completely prepared in a gluten free kitchen that is separate from other flours. She was so nice to help us with things in the area that maybe were new to us but we have become veterans of Holland trips. Our goal was kayak on Lake Macatawa with our kayaks. We got to do that and had a blast. Other breakfast meals were so good, from a Dutch pancake to a rhubarb crisp. We never were hungry! The price for the stay is a steal and we had the green room that was nice and had space. Only bummer was one seat for a chair that perhaps a couple furniture changes could be done to accommodate two chairs? And we did have some rainy times so with the other review the bummer is not having a common space for people indoors besides the rooms or super small spot up at the top landing of the stairway. No other issues, bathrooms are stocked with what you need and coffee in the morning is ready when you get up. The place is clean and homey. Just almost can't get any better. I only hold back the 5 stars because of the common area thing too. Summertime this is the place to be!

Anna and Vic are not just great innkeepers but they make you feel like family. The moment we pulled up to the gorgeous home surrounded by lush green grass, roses, hanging baskets and planters overflowing with a variety of colorful flowers we knew this would be a 3 night stay we'd never forget. Anna greeted us with a hug like we were one of her family and made us feel so welcomed. Our room was beautifully decorated with plenty of furniture for comfortable seating and sleeping. Clean towels and wash cloths were provided each day. The refrigerator contained water and soda which in previous B and B's were additional costs. Also we enjoyed delicious homemade candy, popcorn, peanuts and mints that were left in our room. Each night a homemade dessert was placed in our room to enjoy after a busy day touring various nearby cities. The wonderful homemade breakfasts each morning included fresh fruit, muffins, omelets, quiche, juice, coffee, and tea. The servings were plentiful and presented on the plate with flowers that could be pictured on the cover of a magazine. We could not attend the 9am breakfast the day we checked out and Anna was so kind to pack yogurt, fruit, juice and a muffin for us to eat in the car. Coffee and tea are always available not just with breakfast. We had excellent communication before we arrived and once we checked in, Anna made certain all of our needs and questions were taken care of. She and Vic are warm, personable and excellent hosts. We highly recommend Baert Baron Manor and certainly would stay with them again. On a scale of 1 to 5 , we'd give them a 10!

For personal security reasons (as in, I prefer to leave reviews of places that I temporarily reside…read morein much later than my stay), this review is very delayed. I stayed here over memorial day weekend 2025, and though I was a bit late for Holland's famous Tulip Time, there were still a few tulips sprinkled around the property. This place was like a big gorgeous house, which makes sense for a bed and breakfast. It was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast, and I'd recommend this experience entirely and would like to stay again if I have the chance. There's a couple spacious sitting areas that encourage mingling with other guests but you also have some privacy if you prefer to keep to yourself. The owners are a family, with main ownership from a mother and son, and it feels like there is a great sense of pride with ownership and operation of the inn. They help the space like you're staying with extended family in a way. There are maybe 7-8 different rooms on the property of different sizes. I believe they have a couple larger rooms in a guest house that's just across from the house main entrance. My partner and I had a smaller room in the main house called "The Audrey"with one queen bed on the second floor. It was just the right amount of space for the two of us. The rooms are seemingly spaced out enough so that you only hear others when they pass by your door. All the doors have a lock with a key. Each room has a bathroom attached to it that comes with towels and shampoo/conditioner in pump bottles in the shower. Our room also had a nicely sized TV, where we watched the Indy 500 (this is ironic considering that we were visiting from Indy!) For a bed and breakfast, you have access to some foodstuffs throughout the entire day. They have large fridges that have jams, meats, cheeses, and breads that are kept up to stock throughout the day, so the owners said that folks will often have lunch at the inn. They also have fruit, yogurt, and homemade granola. Coffee and tea can be readily made throughout the day as well. Overall, the inn common areas are kept very clean. Like I said before, I would absolutely jump at the chance to stay here again, especially during Tulip Time. You are just steps away from a beautiful park and a couple blocks away from restaurants on one of the main avenues. I hope that the next time I make my way up to Holland, a room will be available for Tulip Time. I'd even book it years in advance if I had to. Disclaimer: some of the hallways are a little narrow, but that's just part of the older house experience. This location also pretty much requires the use of some steps to move about. I would not consider this inn to be disability friendly, but that's also just older building experience. This is a truly neutral point from me that does not impact the status of this review.

I'm ex-military and it felt so wrong at first when we got there as it was above my pay-grade to stay at a great location. Walking distance to main street of Holland, room had a claw foot tub (who has that now days?!?!) and was a real relaxing feel after running all day. Hats off.

From the moment we entered, we received the kindest of hospitality. Scott, the innkeeper, provided us with so much wonderful information on things to do, where to eat and was kind in addressing any of our needs. We had a "romance" package which included wine, $50 credit to a restaurant and chocolate. The room was cozy with a faux fire place and a room overlooking some trees and down to the water. As for the breakfast (ALSO INCLUDED), it was amazing. Scott outdid himself with the quality of breakfast and service. I cannot recommend this place enough. We will be going back. T

The best. THE BEST!…read more Love Beechwood Manor! Stayed here a few weeks ago for my birthday weekend when I found a special online for 2 nights plus one one hour free in-room massage, gift certificate to a restaurant in downtown Saugatuck, and of course the two complimentary brekkies (being that it's a B&B, of course) for $388. Such a steal! The house itself is lovely. Built in the 1870s and renovated a bit but still keeping that Victorian charm. A comfy downstairs sitting area, and cozy dining room and another kitchenette area with a fridge (stocked with complimentary sodas and water), water pot for tea, hot chocolate, etc, and coffee. Oh yay! We stayed in Enid, the largest of the rooms. Very spacious with a sitting area of two chairs and a table, a couple of nightstands, a chest of drawers, a queen sized bed (very comfy and cozy), a fireplace, a small cable tv and dvd player, and cd/radio. It was actually really nice to unplug a bit so we didn't really watch any tv but it was there if you need it. Instead we mostly just lounged around listening to classical music on the radio and Prairie Home Companion. Fit the feel of the room nicely! The adjoining bathroom is a good size too with a lovely and deep clawfoot bathtub (that I definitely took a soak in. AHHH so nice!) and a separate shower. Complimentary bathrobes added to the cozy feeling and the windows had a lovely view for just perching and looking outside. Add that to the most amazing massage ever (seriously, one of the best I've ever had and I'm hard to please) and I walked out of there feeling completely rested and rejuvenated. The hosts/owners, Sal and Gregg are just lovely. Really friendly and chatty, I felt like an honored guest. And they are no slouches in the kitchen, either! Our breakfasts were DELICIOUS. The first day I had the eggs benedict (although the smell of the waffles sure were intoxicating!) and the next morning I had the sweet potato pancakes which I had to force myself to stop eating because they were so tasty but oh so filling! The grounds are lovely and I can't wait to come back in warmer weather for a sit on the porch looking at the trees and Kalamazoo river peaking through (while their super friendly kitty Oscar rubs against your ankles--but don't worry cat allergy folks, kitty does not come into the guest quarters. We only saw him chillin' outside). If you've never been to a B&B I highly recommend starting with Beechwood Manor. Although it's likely any others you visit may not live up!
